I live in Australia and I'm sick of waiting around for Contra Rebirth to be released on the Wii Shop Channel here, it's been seven months. I was thinking about temporarily changing my Wii country settings to The UK since it's still PAL so I could go on the UK Wii Shop, buy some Wii Points with a credit card, download Contra Rebirth (and maybe some Commodore 64 games) and then switch my country back to Australia like normal and enjoy some Contra and C64 awesomeness.
I was just wondering for anyone who has done this before.....is it safe? I have a decent collection of WiiWare and VC games that I have bought from the Australian shop channel over the years and I want to make sure that I can still play those games and/or re-download them from the Australian shop channel if my SD card fails and I need to in the future. Basically, I'm not gonna worry about doing this and getting Contra if it means wiping out my whole Aussie Wii shop account and losing shop access to the many games I have already bought.
I would really appreciate any advice you guys can give me about this.
The account is tied to the Wii as far as I know; not a standalone thing.
I'm thinking of switching my NA Wii to USA because for god knows what reason you cannot gift people in a different country even if your Wii is the same region!
I know, it's very silly that in order for people to gift things to me here in Canada, either myself or the gifter has to change their Country Settings so the two match...
