PS: NSMBWii is overrated....I'm gonna make this short....It's uncreative, has a bland presentation, there's no intensity or real challenge because of the crazy amounts of 1-Ups that are thrown at you as if you're getting candy on Hallloween(that goes for the Power ups as well!), it makes going to the mushroom houses pointless, collecting coins even feels pointless....before in past mario games you'd try and srounge up EVERY coin you could just to get that extra 1-Up you so desperatly needed, Multiplayer modes sucks, where was the awesome Vs mode found in the DS version? As for the main games multiplayer it can be fun or frusturating, things get too crazy when there's more than 2 people playing. But really, nothing beats single player....

Finally, someone who agrees with me.

Ya. I mean everytime i think about NSMBWii i keep thinking maybe it's just me, but i cant help but feel dissapointed by it, yet so many people are eating it up like it's the best thing ever. Wario Land Shake it! blows NSMBWii away in every department yet it never got the recognition it desserved. that game had it all, creativity, imagination, gorgeouse graphics, fantastic music, amazing level design, when going for objectives the skill is ampred greatly to the extreme, fantastic boss battles ect. It would of been amazing if Nintendo gave NSMBWii 'wario land shake it-like' graphics...but they totaly played it safe.
Super Paper Mario on the other hand suprised me. it was a fresh of breath air in every way. yet too heavy in text, and some of the levels were barren and bland. Still i prefer it over NSMBWii because it's so different and creative. the ending was sad too ;p

NSMBWii to me is like a high 8/10...It doesn't quite make it to 9 imo.

PS: On another note, Super Mario Galaxy 2 better have a new story...If Princess Peach gets kidnapped again i'm going die. There needs to be a higher power. Why not have Wart escape Mario's Dream World with his minions and take over? And make Bowser take second stage, Have Princess Peach turned evil by Wart and make her a nemesis who you fight against. bring back Birdo and the amazing baddies like the Shy Guys, Ninjis, Fry Guy and Mouser from SMB2!

And i thought i was the only one
Wario land shake it is fantastic, in every aspect. I wish more games overloaded the collectible/achievment aspect like it did!

And mario doesnt need good boss fights. Thats why they have zelda
And the levels are the main point of mario, i mean the bosses are easy, but thats kind of nice. Firey dino piranah is really cool, and really enjoyed seeing him. Like last boss first boss sorta thing.
So i need to get de blob, boy and his blob, castlevania rebirth, and klonoa. Sonic has never really hooked me, maybe sonic 4 will change it.

EDIT: I was also really very pleased with the SMG camera. It was awesome.

If only Super Mario Galaxy were alittle more faster paced....Still a fantastic title, but the slowest Mario game to date ;p
Personally I'd love to see a '3D' Super Mario Bros 2. Back to the dream world I say! ;D

I thought the boss fights in SMG were good, but were so easy it almost hurt! Well, for the most part, there were a couple that through a little bit of challenge in, especially with those "special conditions" like not getting hit once. From the trailer, it looked like we might have a few more elements to the bosses other than spin to reflect this, or spin to...oh wait, that was about it.

I'm hoping Epic Mickey brings back the tradition of great Disney platformers.

What if Epic Mickey isn't as "epic" as we thought it would be?

Maybe it's just me, but when my character is constantly changing orientation, it's too hard to keep my orientation on where I'm going, which direction to press, and the platforming is very frustrating, not to mention that it looks too weird. It would've been much better if the camera kept Mario right-side-up at all times. The whole gravity and planet gameplay system would've still worked just as well that way, and you'd be able to tell just where the heck you're going and which direction to press to get there.

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

I would feel queasy if the camera spun that much.

ew, mini ninja's? I've only played the Demo on the PS3 and it bored me too tears...mind you I hate 3D Hack and slash/Beat em up's ;p Streets of Rage, Final Fight and No More heroes are where it's at....oh and i must play Murumasa hehe.

Mushroom Men on the other hand has me interested...but that's mainly because of it's cooky errie Oddworld-like Art style and atmosphere. it definitly looks like it shines in that regard, but i hear the platforming is pretty standard, the camera is wonky and the combat waggle is a bore. Somebody convince me otherwise ;p

The soundtrack in Mushroom Men is amazing. It's still one of my favorite platformers from 2008.

Good call. Definitely not for everyone because it's fairly easy and a bit too linear, but I think it's a decent game that got overlooked. "Hidden gem" might be a bit strong... but definitely a second tier game that is worth a second look.

Although I'm a big fan of the game and wouldn't trade/sell my copy, you might try renting if you aren't quite sure about it. Mushroom Men is a short enough game that you could push through in a weekend without much trouble.

(I also love the art design and atmosphere... you'd swear that the designers were tripping when they put artwork together for this game!)

Hey, so I've recently gotten back into platforming on my Wii (thank you NSMB!), went out and picked up Klonoa and Wario Land. I'm planning on snagging A Boy and his Blob and Muramasa as well, but is there anything I'm missing? I'd like to steer away from Virtual Console recommendations, butI've heard great things about Lostwinds, so I'd be open to some WiiWare title suggestions as well.

Thanks!

Great choices there mate.

Super Mario Galaxy is pretty much regarded as the best game on the Wii and one ofthe very best games of all time.

De Blob is excellent too, consider that. Unique, colouful and a general blast to play.

Lost Winds 1 and 2 are awesome too, Lost Winds 2 is in the top 3 of wiiware games and that's saying something as wiiware is brilliant overall.

Nyxquest is very good and highly competent. Give it a go. A solid top 10 game on wiiware and compareble in overall quality to Lost Winds.

New Play Control DK Jungle Beat is a Wii Classic with brilliant level design and a huge amount of fun. One of the very best platformers you'll play.

Super Paper Mario is a platform RPG and is one of the better games on the wii.

Other platfomers that are highly competent and a decent experience are Mini Ninjas and Rabbids Go Home.

I'm lucky enough to have played all of these games a huge amount of times amd loved them.

I'm interested in DK Jungle Beat...but I'm torn on weather I should get it for the GameCube with the Bongo's or just the Wii Version. Most people say it's better with the Bongo's...hmmmm what to do'

How does Jungle Beat compare to the Donkey Kong Country games? I was raised on those games and am afraid I might not appreciate Jungle Beat because of how awesome the DKC franchise was.

Boom.

They're very, very, very different. Don't go in expecting it to play like the DKC games, unless you want to be disappointed. Just try to enjoy it for what it is.
