Am I the only one who thinks the camera in Super Mario Galaxy is terrible?
Yes.
I had zero problems with the camera. It was fine...If anything I wish Super Mario galaxy had faster controls like in Super Mario 64. That's my only beef with Galaxy, it's not the type of Mario where you can become pro and wiz through the levels since it's so slow paced. I've seen some insane stuff with Mario 64 where people just blaze through the levels with mad skill. Same with SMB 1,2,3 and World. If anything, SMB2 has the most zippity controls.
SMBWii had fantastic controls on the otherhand...Galaxy sticks them in 3D, but makes it all slower paced. The Boss battles were way too easy again. As much as I love Mario...Nintendo seriously needs to learn how to create better boss battles....they need to take cues from Mega Man...Capcom and Konami do it best. Although BoulderGeist was a blast to fight...And I liked that Web Spider as well. But again it's all too easy and not intense. Hopefully galaxy 2 ups the challenge and mario's speed. If anything Mario's Boss Fights for the most part are simplistic and bare bones...I still love the boss battles in 2,3 and even world...But Mario 64 had terrible boss fights, Galaxy was better...but more work needs to be done
PS: NSMBWii is overrated....I'm gonna make this short....It's uncreative, has a bland presentation, there's no intensity or real challenge because of the crazy amounts of 1-Ups that are thrown at you as if you're getting candy on Hallloween(that goes for the Power ups as well!), it makes going to the mushroom houses pointless, collecting coins even feels pointless....before in past mario games you'd try and srounge up EVERY coin you could just to get that extra 1-Up you so desperatly needed, Multiplayer modes sucks, where was the awesome Vs mode found in the DS version? As for the main games multiplayer it can be fun or frusturating, things get too crazy when there's more than 2 people playing. But really, nothing beats single player....
Finally, someone who agrees with me.
Ya. I mean everytime i think about NSMBWii i keep thinking maybe it's just me, but i cant help but feel dissapointed by it, yet so many people are eating it up like it's the best thing ever. Wario Land Shake it! blows NSMBWii away in every department yet it never got the recognition it desserved. that game had it all, creativity, imagination, gorgeouse graphics, fantastic music, amazing level design, when going for objectives the skill is ampred greatly to the extreme, fantastic boss battles ect. It would of been amazing if Nintendo gave NSMBWii 'wario land shake it-like' graphics...but they totaly played it safe. Super Paper Mario on the other hand suprised me. it was a fresh of breath air in every way. yet too heavy in text, and some of the levels were barren and bland. Still i prefer it over NSMBWii because it's so different and creative. the ending was sad too ;p
NSMBWii to me is like a high 8/10...It doesn't quite make it to 9 imo.
PS: On another note, Super Mario Galaxy 2 better have a new story...If Princess Peach gets kidnapped again i'm going die. There needs to be a higher power. Why not have Wart escape Mario's Dream World with his minions and take over? And make Bowser take second stage, Have Princess Peach turned evil by Wart and make her a nemesis who you fight against. bring back Birdo and the amazing baddies like the Shy Guys, Ninjis, Fry Guy and Mouser from SMB2!
bah, it doesn't deserv anything lower than an 8. Even if it is playing it safe, and is too easy. the level design is still top notch and so on. I really liked the Battles against Bowser Jr too because it had you using the Wii remote in different ways. but again, those fights were too easy! maybe i'm just too used to tougher bosses in Mega man ;p
Four solid platform games that I think deserve to be mentioned, along with the reason I liked them:
Deadly Creatures - interesting viewpoint and story; tries something different (even if it doesn't always succeed) Mushroom Men - tremendous art design and music; great way to relive old-school action/platforming de Blob - loved the music and thought the game was innovative and interesting; best in short bursts Tomb Raider: Anniversay - seems like a great way to revive the classic original, although I've barely started
They all have faults, and none are polished enough to compete with Nintendo's own games... but all are still worth playing if you can find them for under $20 or $25 (which should be possible).

How hard is it to get past Mushroom Men's waggle though?
How hard is it to get past Mushroom Men's waggle though?
The waggle is mildly annoying... but it's not a deal-breaker for me. Frankly, I don't find it that different than regular button mashing would have been. What I do sometime have issues with is the poor camera. You really have to "babysit" it by adjusting the camera position manually. Since I played a lot of platformers back in the PS1/N64 days this is something I can deal with though.
This game isn't a blockbuster and definitely has flaws. But if you can get it cheap, it's interesting and has tremendous style. It also appeals to my love of off-beat weirdness... think Oddworld, for example.
Awesome. One final thought/question. In my line of work I occasionally get free games and received the Ratatouille game for Wii a while back. I gave it a go and it had some FANTASTIC platforming levels, I was extremely impressed and reminded of the Lion King & Aladdin games. Does anyone have any games/experiences like this?
So you guys actually like playing sideways or upside-down half the time in SMG?
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
The camera in SMG was the most amazing thing I've ever seen. I was thinking all the time how they pulled it off, always when you want it. I hate having to change the camera yourself, and having a cool automatic one like that was just what I wanted.
I really liked the Lion King game. Played it on the PC. miss it.
So ends a saga older than time itself. The World's oldest and fiercest army has been led to victory, and a lost generation is delivered from its fear of extinction. As the sun sets over the field of conflict the dinosaurs disperse, hoping never to set foot in this place a...
