If I recall, you need to be connected to a British internet provider to be able to use the BBC iPlayer anyway. Even if you bought a Wii in Britain, you wouldn't be able to access BBC iPlayer anywhere but Britain (I'm not sure about the protectorates like Jersey, Guernsey, Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands).
Additionally, you need a strong Internet connection. I assume that's not really an issue with most people in the US, but in the part of Britain I live in, the Internet speed is rubbish.
What edhe says seems to be correct because even online the BBC iPlayer checks your IP address to see if it's from somewhere authorised to view content. The other channels will work fine if you import one of those (I have all three).

Since you have a Japanese Wii could you send me the Mystery Dungeon demo and the other free channels you have there?

Not really since the channels are region-coded just like the Wii. If you had a machine that could run these channels you'd have a machine that could download them.

Really because this guy on Youtube made videos of the whole Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Wiiware game just because his friend with a Japanese Wii sent it too him.So you are saying you can't give me any of the games?

Pretty much. If you want to swap codes with my Japanese Wii I'm happy to register you, but I'm %99.999 certain it's not going to work: 8114-1782-2606-5308
If you read the video description, he mentions that he has the Homebrew Channel. I'd imagine this is what has allowed him to play a Japanese game on his (American, I think) Wii.
Wii Code: 7714 7295 2393 7107 Goldeneye: 1829 8377 3420 - playing as [NL] KelvinG Mario Kart Wii: 3093 9646 0225 Super Smash Brothers Brawl: 0388 0323 8824
Yeah, I was going to say he's probably hacked his machine. Frankly I expect that I won't be allowed to gift Melvin anything, much less that he'll be able to launch it.
I checked yesterday on both my machines and the registration still hasn't completed on my end melvin -- you register my machines yet or are you throwing in the towel?
If money's no object, buy/import a second Wii from the region you want the games from. I've heard that if you take a Europen Wii overseas you still have access to the European downloads. IPlayer still won't work though, unless you can mask your IP address (which is possible on PC's but I doubt it's possible on a console.) I managed to get an American equivalent of the IPlayer (Hulu.com) working on my PC's UK broadband connection by using software that changes the IP address.
