As we know, graphics isnt a huge factor and doesnt make a game, however if you actually believe they can't add to the game you may have an issue of some sort. They are a very welcome addition to games. And on wii its hard to find games bearing good graphics outside of nintendo and retro games.
Anyway, I have an idea. How about game makers make dual disc games. As in, games that span two discs instead of 1 (i think dual layered discs are like this too, but they dont work for everyone i hear). This may seem inconvenient, but doesnt using 2 discs mean u can put more data in total on the game, also meaning u can improve the quality of graphics, a i and other things u may otherwise struggle to manage with quality on 1 disc. Just an idea with no knowledge of how devs really make great graphics, so if you can help or correct this idea, much feedback is welcome.

Seriously, they should do that for the Wii. But actually, seeing the graphics for Metroid: Other M makes me think that Team Ninja might be doing that. Having the game on multiple discs.
Somebody set up us the bomb. Wii: 8703 7486 8875 3789 I love PWN3NG NintendoLife members on Tatsunoko :-)
I bet Retro's next game will blow every other Wii game out the water as far as graphics and level of detail are concerned. And they'll do it on one disc too.

I think we can def. see the return of multi disks starting with FF XIII for the 360 which I think is 3 disks? Of course that game will succeed and developers will be less reluctant to go that route in the future.
Halo-ish? not under Nintendo's ruling in term of gameplay
Okay lol, the way i was going with that was metroid prime hunters wii lol, online and offline multiplayer like the ds and the 8 diffferent characters from the DS with more additions. Makes most sense and it would be the bomb

Having two disks can help a little, but it doesn't go to the root of the problem which is that the Wii lags behind in processing power. Consider that the Xbox 360 uses the exact same DVD format for its games that the Wii does. It's not the disks causing the bottleneck, it's the hardware inside the console.
Download content would be great, like how you can update Forza 2 via XBL. I still wish I could find the Collector's Edition so I can trade the original in for the better one.

What Gabbo said. The media is not the bottleneck here, it's the old GPU/CPU and limited memory. Despite that the Wii does better than my iBook G4 which has many times the RAM and faster CPU/GPU combo -- having no operating system between the game code and the metal does have its advantages!
How much "downloadable content" do you think the Wii is actually capable of storing? Until they can get some sort of alternative storage solution (usb hard drives, etc) then I don't think this is a feasible solution.
I read a suggestion somewhere, on the web, that I think is brilliant: A pedestal could be designed that is similar to the one the Wii already sits in that could contain several slots for memory cards. With the price of memory being so low (especially for 8gb and lower cards), I think this is a super solution. The pedestal could then be connected to the Wii via a small usb cable or by some other connection (if the Wii supports an additional connection). The Wii would still maintain it's "footprint" and no additional pieces would need to be used outside of how the Wii already looks.

My thought was that when Nintendo release a new console in say 2012-2014 they give you a cable that plugs into the back of the Wii via USB so it can use the Wii as a drive for reading Wii games it then outputs these games at 720p/1080p or something. On top of that it has a proprietary memory card reader on the front that allows it to play new games (think DS but 8GB cards) that can take full advantage of the extra processing power.
But until then nope, not going to happen. Developers are going to squeeze all they can out of the Wii but it won't have anything to do with more storage. Nintendo might open up the SD card more but that's a different story....

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions
lol this is going back and forth, but i bet both of these things are equal factors in making the graphics better. I think i may side with the more discs argument though only because since the wii is already out, we cant be changing that hardware anymore, but we still have control over (or the devs do) how much content they can put on multiple discs to enrich their games,
