For those who have some bizarre sequel fear (seriously, if the sequel is bad, that doesn't somehow change the original. It's the exact same game), how about this? Again, this is HYPOTHETICAL. So if you're going to come in with "oh it will never happen" then shut your damned mouth.
Kid Icarus: Uprising HD
HD remake of Uprising with
-Updated graphics (obviously)
-More control options (Wiimote and Dual-analog in addition to touchscreen)
-More multiplayer maps (Like, seriously, a whole lot more then that paltry selection)
-More multiplayer modes (CTF, regular team battles, etc;) along with actual communities
-Bonus 3 chapters that were omitted from the game
-Co-op with Magnus/Dark Pit
-Some fixed mechanics (some examples being allowing you to quit within 10 seconds of starting the level, making the dodge less circular, making Magnus suck less, etc;)
-Balancing weapons and powers (Why do some awesome looking weapons suck so bad? Damn you Royal Blade)
-New weapons or something

Screw you.
Viridi would be a major antagonist next time, if not the main antagonist. She was still mad at the humans during the ending of Kid Icarus Uprising and probably still feels bitter enough to want to exterminate them again, which would prompt Pit to save the day
Hades could return with the help of Orcos, the demonic villain from Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters, but he would look and act diffrently because of it. Think of it like Gruntilda from Banjo-Kazooie returning as a skeleton in Banjo-Tooie
Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters could have some representation, such as the Minotaur, Orcos, and enemies exclusive to the game
Zeus, the Shopkeeper, and the Nurse could return, and I'm actually surprised they didn't in Uprising
1. Sakurai had some pretty clear intentions to ship Pit and Viridi (weird considering Viridi looks a hell of a lot less mature and is a few thousand years older). I don't think she'd end up a main antagonist (though it would be pretty funny to see what they'd come up with to piss her off and make her an antagonist again. Rapid-fire innuendo, hooray).
2. I don't think OMAM is canon anymore, sadly. Sakurai completely ignoring it is what makes me think that.

I found the whole "Piridi" (that's what the FanFiction community calls it) thing rather odd myself. One would think Pit would lean more towards Palutena considering the whole Mario/Peach relationship they sort of have, and the, er, interesting conversations that get tossed around (like one time where Palutena mentions how Pit is just so, "tiny" at which he blushes at. Yeah, take that however you want).
Also I'm pretty sure OMAM isn't canon too. It's never mentioned in Uprising in any way, shape, or form. And considering how after everyone talks about the first game, that's saying something.
Now for the original topic, I'd love for there to be a Wii U KI, but unless a different dev team picks it up, we won't see it for quite some time.
Not sure what you mean by that but the original Kid Icarus on NES doesn't resemble Smash Bros gameplay at all. I would just like an updated 2D Kid Icarus platformer game, like they did with the 2D Mario games.
Uprising is a sorry excuse for a Kid Icarus game, not that it's bad but some of us have been asking for a Kid Icarus game for years and Uprising is not an answer.
@SteveW Better then nothing. Besides, it's not terrible for a franchise to use a different gameplay mechanic, even if sometimes people still want the same old thing.
