@Megumi: ugh, don't even mention shrek, what started as a joke has just exploded, I can see people asking for Goku (although he's more anime/manga than video game oriented) but Shrek doesnt even make sense

Yeah kinda bugs me that people actually think they're getting in just because they're popular on that ballot thing (I'm even hearing that Freddy is showing up on that list as well, ugh...). Sakurai ain't stupid, lol. If they wanna get hyped for Goku/Shrek/Freddy/one of those pony things, fine, they'll be severely disappointed. lol

Well, Sakurai DID say that it was fan-service from this point onwards, and a lot of people want him in, so...it's possible. At least more than Goku.

How? Shovel Knight is quite the popular gaming character, while requests such as Goku can't be taken seriously. Goku may have fighting moves, but I don't think he deserves to be in Smash. At least, not before Shovel Knight.
That said, I don't want Shovel Knight JUST YET. Gimme my Inklings and Professor Layton first.

How when Goku is infinitely more popular and recognisable compared to Shovel Knight who's featured in one game which achieved a decent amount of sales for an indie game.

OK, OK. I guess what I'm just saying is that a character who's gained an audience largely because of cartoons would be weird in Smash. And don't write off Shovel Knight's popularity just yet. Even popular Smash Bros. Miiverse posts involve the usual "Vote for Shovel Knight/Support Shovel Knight."

Okay then, remember in the previous page when @UGXwolf talked about the various hurdles they'd have to jump to get permission to use Goku? Shovel Knight would be easier to get, because Yacht Club have made it very clear that they want him to be in the game, so getting permission shouldn't be as difficult.

Sakurai got Sonic, Snake, Pac-man and Megaman in Smash I think they could handle getting Goku in if they wanted using his Namco connections.
@VeeFlamesNL Miiverse is a drop in the ocean and does little to represent the majority.

And to finish off I don't really want either Goku or Shovel Knight but again just find it funny people think Shovel Knight has more of a chance.

Can't tell if you're joking or not Jazzer...Sonic, Pac-Man, and Mega Man are in Smash because they had a history with Nintendo. Goku is an anime character, anime characters are NOT getting into Smash, deal with it. lol

Shovel Knight is a VIDEO GAME character, and one that shows up on Nintendo systems, he has a way better chance than Goku or Shrek.

Give me a direct quote from Sakurai where he says only video game characters will make it into Smash also Goku has a long history spanning decades on Nintendo systems just like the others I mentioned.

I don't want Goku or Shrek in the game. I want all the characters to have a video game origin, not a movie or anime.

That being said, I don't want Shovel Knight to be DLC either. I don't know much about the game but I have no connection to him at all and seems like such a bland character.
