@NinjaWaddleDee: My comment was saying that if the NX is disappointing then E3 2016 will be disappointing because I imagine that will be the main focus if not the only focus. But as for current things that already provide disappointment are:
. Abandonment - Wii U should have a 5 year lifespan like the other consoles.
. Not much else is talked about - Here's a new Wii U game out, oh wait lets create 6 billion more NX articles/videos based on rumours.
. Announcement of existence too early - Used to think it was wise to prevent people thinking Nintendo was replacing consoles with mobile but the "hype train" will likely cause more damage than if NX wasn't mentioned at all.
. PS4K and XB1.5 - Former is real while latter is just a rumour, NX releasing around the same time could be damaging meanwhile releasing late 2017 could work in Nintendo's favour as they could be seen as "the company that doesn't abandon their fans even if the console sells terribly".
@Grumblevolcano: Yeah, all these new consoles are kind of ticking me off. As an early adopter of the Wii U, I won't be getting the NX until it releases with a real AAA Metroid or Fire Emblem game. That's all I ask. The Wii U didn't deliver in that regard. Anyway back on topic, Star Fox Zero looks like a lot of fun. Does the amount of content in it make it worth $60?
Check out my YouTube channel if you love gaming, and Nintendo (especially Metroid) I think you'll enjoy my videos. :)

I'm having some real trouble with the controls. Just my luck the NX will have a 'remaster' with normal controls. Should I wait to play longer for a hopeful pro controller update or should I keep trying to get used to it? I did the first training mission twice and played the first level once. It was brutal.
I'm going to post this again.
"Can anyone confirm the level called "Out of this dimension" is in Star Fox Zero?" Especially since its based off the original Star Fox?

I'm not what to post, but something should pop up here eventually.
I've been seeing more negative reviews on this, specifically by news sites that aren't game related. Associated Press popped up and for some reason they also decided to say it was terrible and that Nintendo and the WiiU are doomed and things have never been worse. I thought the article was a whine from 2013 the way they cried.
I actually love the controls after some training. To fly above a spider robot, look down on the gamepad and fire! That makes the game a unique experience that can only be had on the Wii U.
Some people compared the controls to Splatoon, so I expected most of the complaints to be BS, but man, the controls are awful. I didn't expect them to be this bad..
@Freeon-Leon: Controls should be intuitive; this feels like a tacked on excuse to sell the GamePad. I hope they get better soon, but I completely understand why some people asked for regular controls.
@Freeon-Leon: I'll definitely try some more. I'll be heartbroken if I can get used to it and/or there isn't an alternative made available. Starfox was one of my favorite games on the 64.
My main piece of advice to anyone struggling with the controls would be to stop viewing the game like a broken up version of Star Fox 64, and get past any potential phobias of the GamePad. I think it's most people's initial reaction to stare resolutely at the TV, because that's the screen that looks most like what Star Fox is supposed to look like. Only now the nice line that used to define both your flight path and your target reticle has been broken in two and you don't seem to be able to hit anything and AAAAH!
I short, I think it's a bit like this:
Okay, so that wasn't particularly short. And I should also note that I don't actually AGREE with all the conclusions that the chap in the video comes to; I think it's misleading to say he's 'unlearned' how to ride a bike, and he seems to believe it's impossible to learn how to ride both a normal bike and the inverted bike - as though one must outright replace the other in one's mental library. I've digressed enough, but based on my experience with similar things, I reckon it IS possible to be comfortable and competent with both, but it may take almost at long to learn how to be able to happily ride either as it took to learn how to ride the the inverted bike and 'forget' the normal one. I also find it slightly preachy, but I think the main point still holds. You want to play it one way but the game won't behave the way you want it to, and that's uncomfortable and awkward and frustrating.
The main thing that I found helped me get across the hump (and it didn't take that long at all) was just making myself use the Gamepad (as Peppy would keep telling me). As time went on, I'd get more comfortable with extended periods looking at the top screen, and aiming without the Gamepad. However, when starting of I'd really recommend forcing yourself to use the Gamepad primarily, with occasional glances up at the main screen, rather than vice-versa. The battle unfolding on the smaller screen just seems to be a lot less hectic and disorientating.
You'll probably get hit more than you would using the main screen, but at least you'll be able to actually hit things, and there are enough rings in the early levels to make dying actually quite hard.

What aiming method are you using? Sounds like you need to try the ZR aiming method. Or try co-op first as a pilot if it's too difficult for you to handle everything at first.
@jariw: I'm just tilting the gamepad? I keep sending off bombs because I press the wrong stick to realign on accident and I keep running into things when I'm trying to aim.
I truly hate to say it, folks, but I'm currently in the same camp as @Dreamliner and @Octane.
In this very thread, I ragged on critics for their hardheadedness in regards to accepting alternative controls schemes — so let me be clear that I actually like well-done motion controls. I'm a huge proponent of IR aiming, and I love Splatoon's controls so much so that playing similar shooters without a gyro feels like wading through molasses these days.
I also love Star Fox. I was as open and excited to learn and enjoy as can be.
Last night, I played up through the last planet before Venom in one setting. I got silver medals on every level, but I honestly feel like I'm just stumbling through and tripping out on the other side of victory, and there's been a whole lot of frustration along the way. I won't get too deeply into it, as I'm still willing to give it more time, but my chief issue is in agreement with @Octane — the controls don't feel remotely intuitive. And that feels like a very non-Nintendo design choice.
A control system like this requires my brain to take a micro-pause before nearly every action, to say "this is the input I need to make here." Now, that sort of system has worked before in games such as Steel Battalion, Steel Diver: Sub Wars, or even Octodad. And for me, I've found it actually works on the slower paced Gyrowing levels. But for a fast-paced shooter that requires on-the-fly multitasking, it has — so far — just ended in frustration and very sore hands. Layer that on top of the baffling lock-on system (inverted on-screen controls paired with non-inverted off-screen controls feels downright awful), constant vehicle switching, and other weird design choices (again, I won't yet get into them for the possibility of some sort of "click" happening), and I'm feeling pretty let down.
I'm giving it another go today, but I have to say that — at least in the moment — it sucks to be disappointed by Star Fox.
Star Fox Zero's controls are really unlike any other game that's ever been released, as far as I know.
For those of you who are struggling to understand the controls in this game, I have a piece of advice for you that might help: Give the gamepad screen as much attention as you give the TV, or maybe even more. The cockpit view is integral to successful play, so give up on the idea that you only need to focus on the TV. Remember, you can still steer your vehicle while looking at the gamepad screen.

Yes, but there are 2 different modes. Try the mode where it only uses the gyro when pressing ZR.
