@FX102A: XCX arrived late for me too, although I received Fatal Frame, Mario Maker and Rodea a day early (all from Nintendo Store). There's a main Royal Mail delivery office in my town and a regional distribution centre not far away, which probably explains why I usually receive parcels on time/early.

I've probably jinxed it now and will receive Star Fox next week...

Quick question, can I play the game off of the gamepad, or did they fix it where you have to have the tv screen too for Star Fox Zero?

I wonder if I should just buy the retail release that comes with both games or just pay $50 for the digital version and skip the FNAF-esque bonus game?

Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)

I don't know what there is to "fix", since SFX has always been designed as a dual-screen game just like Splatoon and Affordable Space Adventures. In theory, you can use one screen only and switch between views. In theory.

@FX102A: @Monkey_Balls: Judging by the tracking, I should be getting it tomorrow which is pretty typical as every preorder with them has appeared on the Thursday before/on launch (of course Hyrule Warriors Legends released on a Thursday so that's on launch rather than before).

Has it been conclusively established if the motion controls are optional, or unavoidable? I got a look at the box today, and it shows the icon for the pro controller, as well as the remote/nunchuk combo.

I'm confused that this is a question at this point. Playing single player is made using the Gamepad+TV. Pro Controller or Wiimote+nuchuck is for co-op.

There are several options on how the gyro should be controlled. From what I've read, the "Activate motion control when you push ZR" (or similar name) seems to be the best for old-time Star Fox players.

@Grumblevolcano: Past experiences are I am unlikely to be so lucky. Guess I'll have to make do with the original SNES Star Fox with the Normal route tonight and the Hard Route tomorrow.

Although that's just another excuse to listen to the Mission Complete music from Armada / Sector Z again.

@DarthNocturnal: Some people don't count it for some strange reason. They only count physical, I think it might be partly that Nintendo doesn't announce digital sales numbers.

They do announce digital sales numbers, just not separately from physical. For example Mario Kart 8's 7.24 million as of December 2015 include digital sales.

It's been conclusively established that the motion controls are unavoidable. The pro controller icon is for the co-op play where 1 person steers the ship and the other person shoots on the gamepad.

They made it fairly clear a while back that motion controls are necessary because they designed the game and levels in such a way that you often need to be able to shoot off at extreme angles (like being beneath a spider thing and shooting directly upwards), which you can't do with regular controls.

I'm surprised reviews aren't coming out already, possibly a sign Ninty put out a stricter emabrgo as they are worried about poor reviews?

@arronishere: I noticed the lack of SFZ reviews, too. I wanted to wake up to a review on NLife's homepage...
I think they're waiting until the Treehouse broadcast ends? Maybe some new information is coming up that would best be covered by the Treehouse and not in a review.

So how does everyone think this will review? Reviews go up tomorrow I believe. I'm guessing it'll average at about 7.5/10. I think the control issues will stop it getting higher than that. Like with Kid Iccarus, it sounds like some people just can't manage them.

They call me the prophet! Prophet with a small error margin.
Sadly I might end up giving this a miss though. Ratchet & Clank scored way higher.

I am glad Nintendo tried something new. After 25 years of gaming I really miss a learning curve for the controls. In SNES times it took me months to control Star Fox as I wished I could do it. Now, the controller in my hands feels like a third hand and everything is like breathing and walking. That really took the fun out of games. I am looking forward to play Star Fox in a new way

Pretty divisive across the board. Kinda expected that so it's not deterring me.

So Nintendo has integrated memes into yet another Nintendo game, eh?
