@yokokazuo: Yeah, I knew I was mixing something up, but I couldn't go verify because I had an assignment. All in all, bombs that explode quickly after throwing them work really well with chargers.
EDIT: OK, so the Charger I was referring to is actually the Splatterscope with Splat Bombs as the subweapon. I've already said why this is great for practice: charges fast, has decent range and comes with a good subweapon for defense (although Splat Bombs do take up more ink than the Burst Bombs). Note to self: Don't make that stupid mistake of mixing up the weapons... XD
I had to be very careful there at the end haha. Took my time cause one person kept throwing splat bombs from my side and then there was the barrage from the front too
Uhh... Hopefully you guys didn't notice the embarrassing mistake I made haha. Thought I had just made it onto land and went into squid form causing me to fall through into the water right at the end...
Trying to practice with a charger. I'm pretty terrible at it. Any tips?
A couple weeks ago, I started taking a charger to Turf War for hours at a time, and force myself to use it the same way someone learns a language by going abroad. I played hundreds of awful games where I had the least number of splats, but eventually, a week later, I found myself using it sometimes in ranked battle and not doing half bad. It's like when you lose one of your senses, your other senses become more acute. No matter how bad you are at it, you have to become good at it eventually.
But yeah, don't start with the E-liter 3K, I learned that soon enough. I still haven't gotten around to using it yet.
Considering I was a rank B- this morning, looking at falling to C+, with about 20 points, I have had a magnificent run today!
I switched to Stealth Squid (Both Stealth Jump and Ninja Squid), and boy what a difference it has made. I reached B rank this morning, then had a 7 win streak this afternoon, getting me back to B+, so I thought, hey, lets see how long this lasts.
17 wins. (Including the Seven for B to B+). And I wasn't bottom of the leaderboard on any of them.
Of course, quite a few of you are S Rankers, so, A- seems an age away, but this is the furthest I've ever gone.
And considering I started multiplayer about 2 months ago, that ain't bad.
Anyone want to Private Battle at 6GMT? I'm going for a break, cause I really don't want to see how far my luck holds.
I'm off for the night, methinks.
Just wondered if anyone could comment on the viability of this set-up:
Krak-On/Splat Roller
Fake Contacts: Main: Special Up; Sub: Quick Respawn x3.
OR
Squid Stitch Hat: Main: Opening Gambit; Sub: Quick Respawn x2, Quick Super Jump x1.
Shrimp Pink Polo: Main: Ninja Squid; Sub: Ink Recovery Up x2 (Will probably be x3 when I unlock the last bar, knowing my luck)
(Or it'll hopefully be Ink Saver Main, which would make that a very good shirt for a Roller)
Red Hi-Tops: Main: Ink Resistance Up; Sub: Swim Speed Up x2, Strength Up x1.
OR
Squid Girl Shoes: Main: Swim Speed Up; Sub: Swim Speed Up x3.
OR
Cream Hi-Tops: Main: Stealth Jump; Sub: Swim Speed Up x3.
Just some things I've noticed.
I don't really need Ink Resistance Up now, as I'm very good at jumping through small patches one after another. It is still useful, just really situational. Stealth Jump took a bit of getting used to, but I'm much more comfortable with using it now, especially jumping to a dying teammate, as the squid who killed them probably isn't expecting it. I do have additional 'viable' tops, but everything seems to have Quick Respawn Subs... All my shoes seem to have Swim Speed Up, and my Tops Quick Respawn. It's really mad.
@TheXReturns: First of all, congrats on your 17 win streak! Quite impressive!
Now, about your abilities...
If it was my Inkling, I would choose the Fake Contacts, the Shrimp Pink Polo, and the Cream Hi-Tops. You seem to have liked the Stealth Jump, so you should stick with it; it does come in handy for those close combat situations!
The last two sentences in your last paragraph kinda confused me, though. You talk about your different articles of clothing have different sub abilities already. I want to make sure, you do know that Spyke can reroll those abilities for you, right? That way, you can choose which shirt, or hat, or shoe, you want with a main ability, and then reroll how many times you need to get the right combo. The brands of the clothing do effect the reroll randomness somewhat, but each combo is absolutely possible. So, say you don't like the look of the Cream Hi-Tops, you could use a different shoe with Stealth Jump and still get those same abilities. It might take a little while longer, but it's still possible. The same goes for the Shrimp Polo; if the last slot ends up not being ink saver main, you could reroll and still have a chance of getting two ink recovery ups and the ink saver main.
The set-up as a whole looks very nice; I don't see any flaws in it! Hope this helped!
I only mainly use Stealth Jump on tower control, otherwise it's pretty situational if it ends up being useful or not.
And it really depends on personal preference, although I could see inkling speed up to be good for the roller, and strength up is poor for everything but the charger although 1 in the sub should be ok, and defense is kinda useless too.
I'm curious how effective that respawn up actually is though, because I'm not sure.
I would have never guessed Weezing was so useful until I played a HeartGold Nuzlocke! My YouTube Channel! Video game related, of course! My Pushmo Levels
I'm curious how effective that respawn up actually is though, because I'm not sure.
One sub respawn won't do much... But each main respawn actually shaves about one second from your respawn time. Pretty good if you ask me, especially for ranked battles!
Quick Respawn imo is one of the better abilities especially if you play aggressively and as a result get splatted often. How effective is it? Well, during our private matches; I had 2 of them as main abilities. I remember them being helpful for Tower Control in particular.
Once a LuigiMan, now a Dreamy representation of the Goddess of Nature.
Retired Palutena Gem Provider. Mario Maker Levels
So I think it's safe to say I'm one of the only few who utilizes the Bomb Sniffer ability? I mostly used it to identify whether bombs or ink mines were on the tower (when Tower Control was apparently the main Ranked Battle mode), but now I see it as an added bonus (especially since it still works well for me). Plus those shoes look good on my Inkling. XD
Ever since my (or should I say our) disastrous string of losses on Saturday, I'm really thinking of digging deep into the mechanics of abilities... I guess I'm not sure the one I have on right now is the perfect one for me.
@Blue_Blur What it is is that most of my Clothing items have either Swim Speed up or Quick Respawn on them. I know about Spyke, and how Brands affect rerolls (And why the Shrimp Pink and the Cream Hi-tops are so very good in that regard.)
I'm just all cleaned outta money, considering I bought up all the weapons. I only have 2 Snails and 100,000 coins left, which is only 5 re-rolls. I've more than had my Snail's worth outta the stuff I've expanded slot-wise, as I have some fairly decent kit now.
Quick Respawn is very useful, especially for my playstyle, but I wouldn't have more than the equivalent of one main ability, as stacking it tends to have much the same effect after that.
Are 'A(+/-)' rank lobbies always so laggy? I went down from 12 kills for 6 deaths, to about 6 kills for 7 deaths, mostly because of lag...
Still won though, and I'm now a fair buffer into A- Rank.
Is anyone up for private battles in about 20 minutes possibly? I need to see whether the TV's being used.
