Topic: Splatoon - OT

@Blue_Blur Unfortunately, if you made it so you only lose 1 point whenever anybody disconnects, you could start abusing the system by dc'ing intentionally, or encouraging undesirable behavior. People would be encouraged to dc when losing, making the game less enjoyable for the other team and preventing comebacks by theirs. It sounds silly, but trust me, people will do it.
Right now you lose only 1 point if they dc at the beginning of the match, I believe before it's even started.

The 1 point loss is when the player has disconnected before the match starts. If there should never be any score losses if there are disconnects, the losing team could just rage quit.

@MasterWario: @jariw: I didn't even think of that! The ranking system is good if you put it that way! I guess I just hate losing points... but then again, who doesn't hate losing points?

They still need to come up with a better solution for disconnects. I've lost at least 100 point because of it and most are from the first 30 seconds. Yes it would be abused but there has to be a better way.

How many points have you won on disconnects in the other team?

I've logged 206 hours on Splatoon with 71 hours so far in August.Man that's a lot! I've got a bad habit of leaving games on without playing them sometimes so I could maybe dock 10 hours of so from the total playtime but even still,with 1/3 of the month still to go ,a map coming tomorrow and a Splatfest coming next week I could well be over 100 hours logged for August alone.

Gamexplain featuring Flounder Heights. The Map looks very roomy and wide; it looks very fun.

It would be really cool if the game could tell if a person truly got disconnected or rage quit. If it was a true disconnect and not the player's fault, they shouldn't lose any points. However, if the person rage quit, the next time the player turned the game on, they should get some points deducted. It would be like Animal Crossing; if you quit without saving, the next time you play the game, Mr. Resetti talks to you. If that game can tell if you saved or not, Splatoon should be able to tell also.

@Blue_Blur: There is a difference between quit without save, and quitting after saving. Its an if statement basically.

How would the server be able to tell the difference between a connection dropping, and someone forcing the connection to drop? As far as the server is concerned, the connection dropped, so its less feasible to do an Animal Crossing.

AFAIK Splatoon uses peer-to-peer connections so there's no easy way to tell who has disconnected.

Is it possible for them to add in bots, so when a person disconnects they get replaced by a bot?

@Aromaiden: They have that feature in Rocket League and thats an indie game they certainty could i think.

Why do you have to do "math" when the Wii U tracks our time played? Did you get a 2nd Wii U or are the kids playing on your account? I played 4 hours last night, I think if it happens again my wife is breaking the disc in half. Cursing so loud I woke my kid up at midnight - it was a really bad night, losses, disconnects, OT losses, 3 players - probably didn't help. I need to chill.

@Aromaiden: Thanks for the vid. Looks like a cross between Bluefin Depot and Moray Towers without all the parts where I fall to my death. Is it up right now? Guess I should go check and do some recon.

@ELI-ASH: If it's possible then I think using bots would be a decent way of helping solve the player disconnection issues, at least so teams are more even matched (so there won't be matches of 3 v 4 or worse).

@rjejr: I was checking in the stats area and I couldn't figure out how to get my time other then by month so I added the last 4 months up. I think I remember a way to see it all in one go but forgot.

Oh and you need to take some Xanax before you next play session! 😜

@Spoony_Tech: Gonna have to change your name to Spoony_not_so_Tech. jk When you check the logs either in daily or monthly just touch the icon on the Game pad for the game and it tells you hours and times played. I'm at 100 hours, 81 times played. Glad to help.

oh man Flounder Heights is freakin huge! Takes forever just to get to the rainmaker. And it's sort of an off centered symmetrical maze. I highly recommend recon before playing any mode. It didn't seem very different in turf or rainmaker but I didn't play. After last night's session ran late into morning agony I felt nausea just being in the lobby, like A Clockwork Orange. B+ 89, A- so close, but I need a break. And flounder heights scared me. It really did.
