@rjejr haha it's fine. I was thinking of whether or not I should say grasshopper instead but decided to go with katydid. I'm not fluent in Japanese, but I know a decent amount. I don't know very many insects in Japanese so I used a Japanese dictionary and went with the direct translation since there is also a word specifically for grasshoppers.
Are they all better at Spaltoon than you? Yeah, my kids are 12 and 10 but I'd probably get a screen protector even w/o them, I'm like that. Guess I'll give it a go then w/o it and let you know how it goes. I'm guessing it won't matter, but I know I won't sleep it I don't at least try, the not knowing will bother me too much. I'll pick up a new one after the experiment, this one is 2 years old, it's lived a useful life. 1 I have now was $2.60 on Amazon, Amazon knows almost as much about me as Google.
Someday we'll find it
The rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me
Last night I had to take a break from ranked after I was starting to lose a fair amount as I didn't want to go down a rank after finally getting out of the C+ cesspool.
Rain maker seems fun so far. My only problem with it is that the travel speed with the rain maker seems to be too fast, causing good players to get to the goal really quickly in small areas. Plus, unlike splat zones or tower control, there doesn't appear to be anything that gives the losing team an advantage. Also, I was shocked when I first discovered that you can die from the rain maker shield.
Also, its name is misleading and I was slightly disappointed that getting an outright victory didn't cause any actual rain. I was expecting it to cause a huge rainstorm when brought to the goal killing all the enemy players.
Anyway, this new mode is still great fun, and it makes a nice change from the other modes, though it's also a little frustrating since I'm still really bad at this one.
Rainmaker, at least in my opinion as of now, is an amazing mode. The gameplay is, somehow, even more intense, frantic, and explosive than with the other ranked modes. I am enjoying this new mode even more than I had anticipated. I just played for 5+ hours straight because I couldn't escape the insanity. Lol.

Eagerly anticipating: Zelda U and the hopeful announcements of Animal Crossing U and Paper Mario U.
Sometimes, the Splatoon matchmaking hates me. I'm at B+ rank, and mostly everyone else I was playing rainmaker with were also B+, but there was one C rank and one S rank player. Naturally, it put me on the C rank team against the S rank player.
To be fair, that was a very close and fun game. Both teams almost got the rainmaker to the goal. No team won outright, though my team lost.
I actually won a few rainmaker matches. The Splash wall is so useful. You can shield your team as they push forward and also if the other team picks up the rainmaker shielding your self from the ink tornadoes XD
Woo, I got my first knockout victory in rainmaker. It was even more satisfying since I was the one who brought it to the enemy base. Most of the victory was due to a Krak-on Roller guy who rolled and krakened a path for me while I could stay hidden in the ink.
Just started to lose quite a lot on rainmaker, so I'd better give it a break before I get frustrated. Still, it's great fun, and I'll play some more another day.
