Ranked mode was being brutal to me today. It put me against the same insanely good Krak-on Roller player 4 times in a row, and each time I lost horrifically.
Since this seems to be a slow time for game-related news for Splatoon, how about some boring sales statistics?
Japanese sales statistics (retail only) for Splatoon, and accounting for the last week's statistics, gives the following results:
The weekly sales of Splatoon increases for the 3rd week in a row.
Except for the very first 2 weeks, Splatoon has outsold MK8 every week in Japan since release (compared to last year's MK8 weekly statistics)
If Splatoon continues the current trend, Splatoon will outsell the current lifetime Smash U sales figures within one month from now (in Japan, of course).
@Spoony_Tech: That's funny, I don't read or hear Piper's voice, it's more of a Fonzie "heeeey" thing. I don't even really imagine him talking, it's all just sentence fragments - "well lookie here", "now I'll tell ya", but he never does, just hits somebody, the man is all smirky attitude and sound bites, pure joy. Unlike Gen DX which helped kill wrestling for me.
Had a productive afternoon, went 6-6 but went up 19 points, my losses were mostly 8 or 5, wins were 12 and even a 14 when we beat a team w/ an S on it. I still really hate losing in OT though, man that makes me so mad. And once we rode the tower down to 23 but the other team was at 22. Partly my fault, I jumped off to clear the way and the guy Ieft on the tower got inked, had I stayed on we might have won, I felt so bad for letting my team down. Next match I raced onto the tower and got instantly killed. Man I played stupid today. Much harder playing w/ all B+ rather than C+ and B-, people are serious.

@Undead_terror: The completionist in me wants all that stuff quickly, but guess I need to start playing ranked more. I had all gear and weapons prior to the 2.0 update, but now there's so much more to get.
Does anyone have tips for having fun with ranked? Losses are so much more frustrating than in turf wars. I wish that level 21 and up used the old point system, but I understand why it's different.
I been watching a few tower strategy videos. I heard its good idea to have 1 team member fall back and ink the path the tower takes. Im gonna try that today see if my luck improves.

Guess that's bad timing for you, knowing Nintendo it will be a rotation of splat zone and rainmaker for the next few days.

@multicoloredyoshi: Not sure ranked was ever meant to be fun, it's for fanatics and statisticians. Here's how I have learned not to have a freakin heart attack every time I play though.
Since the update we get points even when we lose. Always being level 20 was lame, but I'm up to 26 now playing only ranked and losing probably 48% of my matches.
Take lots of breaks. I hit the lobby after almost every loss to calm down. Sometimes even after wins if it was close.
Find something you're good at and just focus on that. Even if that means just hiding in a corner and serving as a beacon, staying alive helps.
Find your place. I'm at B+ 49 but I know I'm a B- player, so losing against lots of A and A+ doesn't bother me as much, beating them is AWESOME.
Find your own victory. Losing sucks, but I take pride in knowing my teams almost never get KO'd. Probably only 20%.
I'm not sure any of that makes it "fun", but it is more enjoyable. Like chess on speed. Enjoy the victories, walk off the defeats, have fun in turf war.

I was trying to catch up w/ the 2 people that had a 3 page long convo the other day.
So if you have "fun" losing 5 in a row you must enter a mystical state of nirvana when you win 5 in a row. I just can't really have fun losing, I just hope for keeping my anger and rage in check at "aw shucks" levels when I lose so I can be happy when I win. I would have fun losing playing w/ friends, that's what friends are for, playing w/, but if I'm doing ranked battles w/ 7 strangers I'm really only playing to win. I guess goal determination at the start of play dictates my mood response. I can lose and have fun in turf war, that's what it's for, having fun.
