I think so. None of my friends had a Wii U when it launched and the ones that do now still don't have the game.

The best chance of getting gear with additional sub ability slots before you're level 20 is to order 3-slot gear you see in the Plaza through Spyke. It's expensive, though.
The Splatoon developers recently said that match making in Regular mode is based on playing style, not level. But try connecting to a new lobby if you don't feel that the current lobby isn't fair.

Personally, I love to play in random teams, with unknown players, as long as we're fairly eqal in skill level. The only thing that's really required for Splatoon is a good internet connection.

I'm level 14 and I've seen gear with three sub-abilities in the shop, can't remember if they were available at level 13 or not.

I'm now at level 10 and no new equipment (except weapons) is showing up, is there some kind of single player requirement? I haven't started it.

The clothing list changes daily like in Animal Crossing so the clothing you see now is what's available at the moment until tomorrow. You can get some clothing for clearing the single player, but you get them for free and you won't have to buy them unlike the weapons you can get from the single player mode.

Only a few hours now before Tower Control is live! I hope everyone is just as excited as I am.

Apparently the modes for ranked battle change every four hours along with the maps : so can't say I'm particularly excited I hope like tower control because there will be quite a few hours in the day where I won't want to play

@Datasun_7 May I ask where you found that?

It's pretty well known its every 4 hours now. Where I live it's 2pm 6 pm 10 pm 2 am and so fourth.

@Spoony_Tech I never really saw anything saying the mode changed with the stages. Oh well, i'd be lying if I didn't find that approach interesting!

Didn't see modes. Don't know what he's talking about then. I was just referring to the stages for both current modes.

@Spoony_Tech Saw some people talking about it on gamefaqs, think it was spotted in some footage? Kinda hope it isn't true, would stop splitting the player base more though which is definitely a good thing so kind of torn on this really.

It is a great game that is definitely worth you're time.

Though it's a bummer you can't choose, I gotta say, that's a pretty clever way of getting everyone to play the same mode and keeping the match-up process quick.
