Is the UK/EUR splatfest still going ahead this weekend what with the US one last week getting canned?

I think the NoE Splatfest will be moved as well. There are no trucks and no voting booths in the plaza.

Both the NA and EU Splatfests are delayed to July 4th.

That's the dumbest date they could possible do here in the states. They will not get the turn they're expecting and maybe that's what they want. I won't be able to play nor will my son since we will be away all day!

That's a interesting date to pick. Hard to tell if the turnout will be more, less, or the same compared to original date. Some people have a free day, some have plans, and others will cancel their plan to play in splatfest like some supposedly did last week. Well at least it 24 hours, should be easy to find a convenient time to play unless your away from home for the weekend.

Now I wonder if I side with the rulers of the internet meme, Cats or side back to the underdog of the web, Dogs. Guess I'll flip a coin like last time.

Can't decide who I'm more annoyed at, Ntinedo for this $%#@ of a move, or all the people who were telling me to stop over reacting about the last minute postponement. THIS is why I was upset about the postponement, we wanted to play in the splatfest, now we won't.

52 Saturdays in the year and the US gets this one, not nice. Reggie must still be upset about being embarassed during the NWC.

I think Reggie is more upset at the general reaction to Federation Force.

Well, yeah, there's that. But he had to know that was going to happen. He probably hates Iwata now - "oh sure Iwata, make that stupid game nobody wants then send me into the E3 lions den whie you stay at home in Japan".

I'm pretty sure Reggie has no say in game choices. Or really much of anything really.
Just all the bad things - no small New 3DS, Yoshi in Oct, and Spaltfest on July 4.

Lol, I just got done telling someone that Reggie is at the mercy of NoJ. He has the dubious job of putting a positive spin on whatever games they decide to make. Its not like NoA makes games. Then he could be held more accountable.

Us Europeans don't celebrate the 4th of July, so we can just play Splatfest all day. EUROPE WINS AGAIN.

I like Nintendo, but they've sure been stumbling over their own feet lately.

I have to admit, as much as I don't like Reggie - you may have picked up on that - I do feel bad for the guy sometimes. Like the NWC w/ that acting all Jersey Shore guy. But then I remember he gets paid a lot of money for doing nothing as far as I can tell, then it's just hate again. But I'd also correct somebody blaming him for stuff he has no control over. He's the PR guy, it's his job to be abused. I wonder if he ever daydreams of being revered at events like Steve Jobs? Or Miyamoto? Poor powerless Reggie.

On topic - whoever did pick July 4 for US Spaltfest needs a kick in the nads. SMM 9/11 was 1 thing, that's global, and I understand the simplistic argument - "if you don't release it 9/11 then the terrorists win" - but July 4 for US Spaltfest? Somebody not only suggested that but somebody else OK'd it? Just no.

What is so bad about a July 4th event for US in a game? Some people go out and celebrate but a lot of people will be home and people that may not normally have the day off might have it off. I think it is a great idea, I am sorry if you already made plans on that date but they aren't basing this around your personal schedule.

It's a holiday that involves heavy amounts of travel around the U.S.

This date is inconsiderate to the millions of Americans who travel and celebrate the fourth of July every year.

I understand people celebrate the holiday, even I do, but it isn't any different than an MMO holding a holiday event. If anything won't more people be able to play an event on July 4th than say an event on Christmas day?

It's even more inconsiderate to all the parents who will be taking their kids to a fun day at the beach, park, bbq, playground, amusement park, zoo, carnival whatever and listening to their kids whining - "but mooooom, Splatfest". And then mom will say - "you can play it tomorrow". And then the kid say - "no, I can't it's one day only". And then mom will say - "no, you must be mistaken, nobody is stupid enough to make a 1 day videogame event on the 4th of July".

It's the one holiday out of the whole year where millions of family and friends get togther to have cook outs and swim and play catch outside. Its the biggest outside holiday of the year for US. All states have warm weather. There is not a worse day they could pick period. Sure some people will stay home but now instead of getting hours upon hours of gaming I'll be lucky to get a few games in.

Christmas actually makes more sense as it's a cold inside holiday for much of the country.

I don't think anybody is suggesting Christmas day is better than July 4, but June 27, July 11, July 18, June 20, Aug 1 and many other Saturday's are better. If July 4th is the best day, why not schedule that day from the start? I think the postponement is part of the problem as well, people were already fearful back then that Ntinedo might do something like this. And all the people who didn't have anything to do on the 20th but do have something to do on the 4th are rightfully not happy b/c now they miss it. So it's a compounded disappointment. If it was announced as the 4th form the begining, maybe Nitneod would have a better leg to stand on defending it.
