Can someone give me a (good) reason why i cant change weapons in the lobby ? or even know the stage before going in ?
Nintendo just didn't place that feature in,and there really is no good reason. Hopefully they patch that up, considering how much people complain about it.

I had a thought, don't like your load out for a stage let us pick up weapons from fallen players. You want a weapon from someone in the opposing team go out there and splat them and take it. Not sure if that would even work but it was just a thought.

@MasterWario So your saying pass ahead of the splat zone and get some kills in while your team focuses on the splat zone?
Yes. It's not always the best move but it helps a lot imo.
If you can hold off 2 or more players past the splat zone (and even 1 is ok), you're in a much better position to win since it should be a 3v2 at the splat zone. You don't necessarily need to win the skirmish. The longer they are away from the splat zones the better off your team should have a hold over the splat zone.
You should be getting a feel for how the game is going before charging over the battle lines, but the distinction that's important is if you're playing too defensive, the enemy can better orient themselves to take back the splat zone. The more of a disarray the other team is, the better chance you have to win. You can carry your teammates because, say you have a sniper that can't 1v1? Well now he can get into his favorite position and snipe players from a distance while you're distracting them.
I once had a game that was well-matched, but the enemy got a hold of the splat zone and just pushed ahead even more. We couldn't do a thing since they were hiding in places we didn't expect; None of us could get to the splat zone, and if we somehow managed it, they were in total control and just popped us real quick.
I hope I'm making sense. It makes sense while I'm playing the game but it's hard for me to explain in text without throwing too many ideas around; that's why I try to give examples because that's concrete.
I would have never guessed Weezing was so useful until I played a HeartGold Nuzlocke! My YouTube Channel! Video game related, of course! My Pushmo Levels
The problem is that some weapons just dont work in some maps and you are there feeling somewhat worthless :/
You have to equip yourself based on the Callie Marie show. You are right that sometimes your equipment seems rubbish on a map, but it's balanced out in the games where it is more effective. It deters people from changing gear every stage, otherwise there is a good chance everyone has the same items of best fit and the game would lose it's variety. It's not a problem that some gear is better suited to some levels....it's a challenge. Get with the game design You cannot choose which levels you play either. That's random too. So there is less chance someone can exploit the game and keep it fun.

It's a design choice and Nintendo gave the reason for it in the Splatoon Direct. Or what @GrailUK said above.

Oh, so Nintendo did that on purpose. I just assumed that Nintendo didn't have a real reason, and I didn't recall them explaining it (although I haven't watched the Direct in a long time, so that may be why). My mistake.
how do you upgrade weapons? what are the orange balls you collect for in the single player campaign?
The orange balls are currency for upgrading the singleplayer gear/weapons in Octo Valley. Press the button on the Gamepad to upgrade when you are in Octo Valley.
Weapon upgrades for multiplayer are bought in the weapon shop in the Plaza. You get currency for that by playing online.
I'm a big fan of the N-Zap '85. Splash-o-matic is pretty usefull as well, and despite the overuse of the Aerospray RG - I tried it today and - I quite liked it.

The orange balls in the Single Player Campaign let you upgrade your defence, ink storage and things like that when you press '+' in Octo Valley. This only upgrades things in the Single Player Campaign, I think.
Had some epic ranked battles yesterday. Was in a room for about an hour and a half were it was the same host and a good consistant6 of us stayed the whole time. At the end of the day I still finished where I started but the battles for the most part were back and fourth every match with someone different in the lead every time almost. Still at B- 60 though but I would never leave the good thing we had going last night.

The orange balls are currency which you can spend on upgrading your weapons. You do this by pressing + or - (I forget which) when you are not playing a level.

I tried all those but the N zap. I like those weapons but don't care for the range. I do better with the .52 deco and the .96 tbh. With those short range weapons I find myself getting splated because I can't reach the other players.

It's only the .96 that is long range. The N-Zap 85 goes slightly longer than the .52.

Thanks for that info. I didn't check the specs on the N Zap. It might be just the right fun for me then.

with the aerospray RG you dont even have to aim just get within range and hold the button XD and thanks to the mines i can even avoid combat entirely and still splat a few people that walk near me.

Yeah. That's like the greatest strength and weakness to the RG, but right now we really don't have a mode that requires accuracy or range (except ranked, which kind of does but not really) so the Aerospray RG excels. I can't wait for Tower Control, so we can have a more accurate, long range oriented mode.
To be honest, I don't find mines to be that great, since people can reveal them and cause them explode by covering them in the opposing ink. As far as I can tell, I don't think I've ever been caught by a mine, as I usually reveal them or can predict where they are.
