It's also scary that, from an early poll, most of the people on this site are apparently fine with the minimal content on display. I suspect most of them haven't played many, if any team based online shooters in the past.
I think this is my downfall when it came to me voting "Poor, not enough maps and modes" for the content question, I look at the shooters I played on my Xbox 360 from 2009 onwards (all Halo games, most CoD, etc.) and the variety in Splatoon felt very bad in comparison. It kind of makes me wish I never got an Xbox 360 because then I'd probably have been happy with the minimal 5 maps and 1 mode for awhile.
QUESTION!: Do you have to constantly scan the Amiibo to get their content, or is it a one and done deal?
I got the three pack and haven't opened it... I don't really want the figures, but I want the content. If I can just scan them each once, then sell them at a reasonable used price (not looking for profit), then I will. But if you have to always scan them, I'll just return the unopened three pack, as I don't think the content is worth the asking price if you don't like the figures.
Fought the first boss and recorded it, though I'm not posting the link...so, you know...not my fault you don't save my channel. TwT lol
Anyways I'll go online from time to time in this game, but I noticed that almost all the players vanish sometimes during multiplayer. Is this a server issue or something? :/

Keep it PG-13-ish.
BTW, I got my copy, which I did not pre-order, I pre-ordered something else that I never picked up because the person at the register forgot I had more than one thing to pick up last time I was there, so I got the game somewhere else and transfered the $10 to Splatoon and Puzzle & Dragons Z + SMBE, and said the hell with that store...
So I finished the single player and the amiibo challenges all really fun! Will be going on online far more now (even though I'm level 10 now haha) if anyone wants to play online with me be sure to add me!

I haven't had any problems yet finding a match or getting disconnected, but I had a fun match last night. I went into enemy territory and shot ink around, and nothing changed. After about 15-20 seconds, suddenly everything burst into color. When I looked up to see the teams, only me and one of my team members were there. The other two on my team and the entire other team were gone, kicked out of the match I guess. It was just the two of us running around painting and then swimming and jumping for fun. At least I got an easy 300 points.
I've dodged them twice so far with carefully timed jumps. They're not unbeatable, you just have to watch where it's turning.

I wouldn't consider the Splatoon maps and weapons to be free DLC but rather removed content from the full game added to make it look like it's free DLC. Take the 4 newly revealed maps for example, they take place in the single player campaign and are even in the Prima guide. Surely that's enough to suggest Nintendo has a weak summer game lineup at E3 and hence doing everything they can to get DLC in as replacements?
I agree with you that this is removed content, but I don't agree with your conclusion. A lack of released games would be no better for a player that doesn't intend to buy Splatoon at all.
The design of Splatoon suggests that it's the Animal Crossing team that are indeed making this game, and that they want to make the user base to stay for a long time. Since when the online community dies in Splatoon, the game dies. You don't have all store content available at all time in Splatoon (since store content shifts daily), and content are added gradually. Just like Animal Crossing.
NoE has 4 retail games arriving in May+June. And NCL has a Nintendo Direct tomorrow, discussing the summer releases for 3DS and Wii U in Japan. The internal design of Splatoon is not related to the overall schedule of Wii U games.
Yeah, the fact that they're Single Player levels and already have previews in the guides, which most likely have to be written months in advance of the game releasing tells me they're probably already finished and will roll out on a set schedule. Which is understandable, they gotta keep the gamers interested. Since they're free I don't have any complaints. Though the 2 maps every for hours rotation thing is still strange to me. I'd want to be able to pick my level, but it's not a big deal.
By the way, I love what you did with your avatar!
Only two of those maps are single player levels. I don't know why everyone is saying all four are there.
