And the left side show some new maps. The one at the bottom left was not shown as an upcoming map in the Splatoon Direct.

There is no Voice Chat because Voice Chat has lead to disappointing experiences for many Players. There have been people that cancel their online subscriptions because of what has been said to them using Voice Chat. There could have been ways to mute and discourage this behavior but that doesn't stop it. Voice Chat isn't in the game to deliver a better experience. There have been many tales of harassment over Chat options in games and the developers have experienced this harassment. It is not missing because of ratings, internet quality, or laziness.

I know I am still going to get replies saying how "if it is optional than people could just turn it off," Most people won't take the time or effort to turn it off and instead just stop playing the game. Sad but true. So Nintendo decided to not have Voice Chat to take the power away from harassers and instead deliver a fun experience everyone can share. I know I would have liked party chat or something like that, but I think that feature should be a system feature (similar to what Xbox has) instead of only in this game

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Why not make it off by default? I mean, I don't really care that there's no voice chat with random strangers, but I I've no issues with Destiny because of that. If you keep turning it on, it's your own fault (to an extent) that you're having bad experiences. You're just being stupid.

I am not disagreeing with you but people are lazy and that laziness can negatively effect the experience and negatively effect sales. people will turn it on thinking "I want to be strategic and talk to my teammates" then start playing and get yelled at and made fun of then quit the game rather than turning off Voice Chat. Without Voice Chat (and some other things) the community won't appear toxic to players.

Nintendo decided not to add voice chat because they don't want another Swapnote/Letter-Box-esque fiasco happening. It has nothing to do with "harassment".

Wasn't the Swapnote/Letter-Box fiasco about harassment? People were sending/receiving images of inappropriate things? That counts as harassment, since the receiver didn't have a way to filter it out except not using the software.

Not sure about the dictionary definition of harassment, but with the current internet definition of "harassment", you might be right.
They shut down Swapnote because of child predators soliciting (and apparently, receiving) nude photographs of minors.

Although I changed my mind. It is probably because Nintendo doesn't want Splatoon to be known as that Nintendo game where people swear it up online.

That or they're lazy.

The developers have said, it is because of how they and others have been harassed in online games. They didn't want that to happen in their game, so they didn't put Voice Chat in.

August 2013. And if it was user error then why did Ntinedo send me a new one when I sent my broken one in for repairs? There's more, but like I said, no point going into it, it's history.

Because Nintendo was being nice to an early adopter they don't strike me as being as kitchen science company as long as you didn't outright destroy the unit with a hammer. And just because you said you purchased it in August 2013 doesn't make it true. All your comments come across like a troll who doesn't own the system and you are just mud slinging.

The troll is calling me a troll, oh thats just priceless.

Question!!!: If my wife wants to play online but I don't want her to mess up my ranking, can she have a different profile than me?

Don't quote me on this but I would imagine it's just a simple case of logging into a different NNID?

I've not been able to crack my disc in yet but my Wii U has a couple of NNID's tied to it so if nobody has answered your question I'll check it out tonight for you.

@luke17 so I did try it out on two accounts on my system and they both have their own profile/character/equipment/the job lot. You are totally fine letting your wife have a go, just set up a NNID for her if you haven't already and she can crack on with her own gear.

You can also set up an additional "party account".
I have prepared one extra NNID account for when we get the game tomorrow. That's where we will party play Turf War, one round each. We did that during the Testfire Demo, worked great since the matches are so short.

My own thoughts on the game so far as someone that didn't bother with the testfire.

I love it basically, I jumped straight into online after the tutorial and got mauled in the first game. In the second I did better but still came bottom of my team. After about 10 or so games I've got the hang of it enough that I know what I'm doing to be decent and I think persevering with the motion controls was definitely the right decision for me.

I also had a little crack of the single player and really enjoyed that too so far. Only done up to past the first boss but it's definitely not an afterthought in my opinion.

Looking forward to the proper release tomorrow which should hopefully bolster the players up a bit. I've always managed to find a game but sometimes I've had to wait a few minutes to get that illustrious 8th member in the lobby.

All in all I'm a happy squid

I enjoy your positive view on the single player campaign length. More could do with this attitude.

So has anyone figured out if you can turn off the motion control from the gamepad? I don't like!

Haha surely the internet definition of harassment is when you had the option to ignore or avoid the person but you deliberately sit there and get annoyed just so you can bitch about it and gain attention.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.
