@Megapokepaul: Well personally I don't think it's fair to save scum in Splatoon and I'm still surprised why the rank isn't saved on some server. But the process itself is the same as doing a backup, you just copy files in the Wii U's data management in the settings. There shouldn't be any need of official Nintendo support because you can't break anything.
So morally I'd advise against save scumming in Splatoon, but technologically it's easy.
Makes me wonder if some players might even use it for rank purposes. When Splatoon was just out, I read that some people use save scumming to get the reroll they want, like 3x subs of the same ability that is also on the main slot. But I never would've thought that you could also manipulate the rank. In my opinion Nintendo should change that and tie the rank to the NNID, think I'll inform the support about this.
@Lzeon Nuh-uh. You still have to get to S+. Only then wil-- I mean, MIGHT I bow down to you.
Welcome to the S club, Lz... now watch that rank plummet back to A+ in less than a week...
I'm still in the A+ region, though I'm starting to give up on becoming the almighty S rank
Actually, it's the opposite for me. Before, I never thought I had what it takes, but now a lot has changed in the way I play. Everything "clicks" and it feels like I finally found the missing component in my playstyle (it was pretty obvious, I played too risky and died too often before, also didn't consider ink control). It almost seems like I get better the more my rank goes up. I often go into matches thinking that I might lose because of the higher player level but every time the opposite happens, even if it seems like we're losing for most parts of the match.
I feel slightly confident that I can make it. Currently at A+ 50.
Could someone give me the tldr of the latest update. I just got my wii u working again ^_^
Assuming you got the 2.6.0 update before (and know the fundamental changes in it), here comes a breakdown of the 2.7.0 update:
Sheldon's picks, 8 new weapons
by default, you can only throw 2 burst bombs, their ink consumption is higher, but their painting radius is bigger
several changes to almost all weapons, the most important for me personally was 50% faster run speed for the Jet Squelcher. You can find the detailed weapon changes here, it's really too much to quote.
new criterion "special reduction" is introduced and each weapon set (not weapon model!) is divided into three groups: Heavy reduction (75%), medium reduction (60%) and light reduction (40%). Previously all weapons had a special reduction of 50% after being splatted.
the effect of cold-blooded is reduced to only 50%, which effectively means Point Sensors are strengthened
Inkstrike fires a lot faster (33%), which makes it more of a viable tool
