Bit late I think but I'm a bit annoyed at that Splatfest. Can anyone explain to me how they work it all out? I've not been regularly participating in them but I'm sure when it started they only multiplied the win % by 2 for the final results, but yesterday it was x 4. I did OK for Blue but I'm still sour that I spent 2-3 hours in that only to lose, particularly at a meaningful one to me personally. Hopefully the choose a good topic for the next Splatfest so I can avenge that lose but I'd like to know how they work out the winner in advance of the next one.
@VeeFlames That's why I favour suction bombs- they knock a splash wall completely out, leaving an opponent who thinks they're safe vulnerable to a nice splatting.
@Freeon-Leon I stand corrected! I guess it's good playing a weapon that no-one much uses, because no-one knows what you can do! Out of interest, how do you play Bamboozler? Roaming? Close-Quarters? I'll have to squad with you at some point, because I'm really interested to see how it works!
@TheXReturns: I usually go to the front at the beginning of the matches (you can ink straight lines really quickly) and then see what I can do from there. I'm not a guy of strategies, I just try to have as much fun as possible with it.
And sure, we should squad someday! Sometimes when my aim is bad, I change to the Splash-o-Matic and let the suction bombs do the work.
@pikminfan22: Lol it sure is. I forgot about it for years, then it got mentioned I think on this website in the online gaming forum and they talked about how it got ruined because it got sold off to another company again and there are no moderators or something so the chat boards went crazy and people posted a lot of bad pictures on their profiles, and I think a lot of accounts got compromised somehow as well. No idea how it is now, but that happened.
@Blue_Blur: I tried out some buckets but didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted. The N'Zap is still my go to weapon. I also am not good at the tower gamemode lol
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
@DefHalan: Everyone has their favorite weapon, sorry you didn't like the Sloshers too much. I'm glad you still like the N-Zap though!
I used to love Tower Control; it used to be my favorite mode... Until the Blasters came... I'm sure @DreamyViridi understands! (I noticed you don't like Blasters either in Tower from the multiplayer forum!) XD
Splat Zones is now my favorite. I feel like that is the only mode where you can still do pretty well without great teammates. Tower and Rainmaker require a lot of teamwork, and sometimes your team doesn't cooperate... at all. XD
Alright! Today's the first day that I've done well with an E-Liter 3K! I guess after all that practice with the Splatcharger, you kinda get used to the motions, even when it's horribly slow.
It took me a little while to get used to due to the slow charging speed, but now it feels pretty normal to me. And the Splat charger now feels like it charges so fast haha.

Since October 30, it's winning % times 6. (The August update had winning % times 4.)
The problem with the initial 2 multiplier, was that it was that the popular side won too much even when they played bad. I have no idea why it was changed to winning % times 6. Times 4 seemed like the correct balance to me.
@TheXReturns: I'm not sure I'd qualify anything as worse than eliters, though.
But yes, I've already suffered the wrath of some excellent Dynamos, I'm getting nightmares of those guys standing on the pillar on Skatepark and splatting me from way to far away.
Oh, and I second your opinion on Blasters, they are nasty too. And while I can use some of them (Rapid and Luna) to some extent, I don't feel as comfortable as with the Nzap.

@Lycidas The N-zap is a nice well-rounded weapon, with a good rate of fire, and is my go-to shooter when I'm not using a roller. I can just about make a go of a ranged blaster, but not magnificently. But honestly, E-Liters aren't the worst things out there on certain maps. If you learn how to deal with one (unpredictability is key), then it gets easier.
@TheXReturns: Yeah, the firerate is what appeals most to me. If I want to take a change, I'll go for the sloshing machine though, with clothes more or less exclusively focused on ink saver and special up.
Predictability, that's something I'll have to work on, I must be way to obvious. ^^
But that's a great thing, showing that quite a lot of weapons are very viable at the top. Now my curiosity is awakened, I might watch some S-rank match to get an idea of those awesome players.

@Blue_Blur: Ah, you saw... XD
Yeah, don't like Blasters (Lunas in particular) on Tower Control. "Oh, Im'ma just stand here and just shoot the Tower with guaranteed splats". I picked up the Tri-Slosher and said "Screw that noise!", getting decent results.

@Lycidas What I mean is that, as a roller, before I even see the targeting laser, if I think there's a sniper on me, I'll jump left, right and all over to put them off, whilst heading in their general direction, ensuring never to travel straight for too long. It sometimes works, but the moderately good ones who would've just missed the moving target will hit, and the extremely good ones won't even give me a chance.
...and I get splatted by others as well, which is always fun. XD
Splat/ Krak-on Rollers aren't actually that viable at the top. I doubt I'd ever make it all the way to S+. (That's mainly due to me going virtually exclusive with one weapon though, which is apparently a big no-no. XD ) If there's a roller in Ranked, it's mainly a Dynamo, or occasionally a carbon. I don't tend to see them that often at least, but I mean, hey, I now know of a Bamboozler user. Every weapon deserves some love.
Another weapon I don't see often is a nozzlenose. Anyone main one of those?
@DreamyViridi You were more than good! You carried us to some pretty good victories whilst I messed about with a range blaster. XD
@TheXReturns: Thanks, you did catch me off guard for a second when I entered the squad and saw you with a weapon that wasn't a roller. Trying weapons out of one's comfort zone is good, it can make for a fresh experience; even if it doesn't compare to your main go-to.
I just tried the Tri-Slosher for kicks, I didn't expect it to be a decent answer to my Tower Control problems.

@DreamyViridi Yeah, people have kinda got to expect me just as a roller, so I wanted to change it up a little. From experimenting, I've gotten pretty good with an N-Zap, Tentashot and a .52 Gal, and fair with a Slosher, Tri-Slosher and a Carbon Roller. I'm still getting to grips with some of the subs, I can't use a Burst Bomb, Splash Wall or a Disruptor very effectively, but I'm decent with a point sensor now.
I've settled on my equipment, I just need to get three subs on each (I think I read there's a 3.8% chance for three of the brand's subs, so I'll just save up some money and try and get it all sorted.)
...Still can't use chargers though. XD
EDIT: @Defhalan Like I say, you may want to try the '85 as well. It's used in much the same way, but it has slightly different specials and splat bombs instead of sprinklers.
I think the N-Zap 89 is just the perfect weapon for me. It is great at painting and attacking. The special helps with getting objectives too. Haven't found a weapon that I like more yet... I would be up to squad if I wasn't at work... Just 6 more hours until I am home lol

I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
@TheXReturns the only roller I can use decently is the carbon haha. I'm thinking of working on a secondary weapon, but not sure which one to try.
Aside from chargers, I can use the SSJ, brushes and the carbon roller decently, but I don't know exactly how good I am with them.
@YokoKazuo If you can get more splats than deaths, you're better than most rollers. If you can use burst bombs well, with the Carbon (Hit someone with a burst bomb just before you're coming down for a swing and it's likely to be a OHK) you're definitely better than most Carbon Rollers. I personally prefer the Splat for it's more consistent killing ability and suction bombs, which are a lifesaver on TC, but I can use all rollers fairly well.
The trick with Dynamos, (And it sounds counterintuitive...) is to swing, then jump to get the maximum height, as if you jump first, you'll have touched down before you finish the swing, resulting in a much lower height (as you'll have just landed, thus the paint will be on a downwards curve, and thus fly down) If you're up high, the reverse is true, as you want to get the paint as low as possible. Due to the Dynamo's uneven splash pattern, you'll actually want to aim a fraction of centre to get the maximum damage at range the most consistently. I'm only talking a very small amount, so it's probably easier to just aim centrally and hope for the best.
I tend to find that Carbons make the better up and close brawler, so you'll probably want to be on the front lines, and Dynamos mainly depend on whether there's a Sniper in play. If there's a Sniper, sneak attacks from behind probably work the best, but if there isn't, being loud and visible might serve you well. Splat/Krak-ons are far better support and close-quarters than they are on the front lines. I've sometimes sat in a small piece of ink on Splat Zones (I'm thinking Moray Towers here) for ages, constantly setting up Suction Bombs whilst the opposition have no clue where I am. It's great fun.
Obviously, that's just my own experience, and your playstyle may make you play differently, but I would highly recommend to anyone thinking about giving rollers a shot to go for it, even just for a little bit, just to have a different experience with Splatoon.
EDIT: I sound like a commercial for Rollers. XD I only meant to give few quick pointers on Carbons, but I guess I got too wrapped up in it.
@TheXReturns haha, well thanks for the pointers. I do usually use a burst bomb with my swings with the carbon roller. I've tried jumping with the Dynamo, but overall I'm just terrible with it. It swings too slow for my liking.
