Next NA Splatfest, would you like to travel to the PAST or FUTURE?
You could exploit going back to the past but I'm sure future will win popular. This will be one of the few times I'm most likely going popular vote. I say leave the past where it belongs, in the past lol.
Future is where it's at, baby!
I love that Marie always has the theme I vote for, even if she loses half of the time. Carrie is a big meh.
Speaking of which, when are we going to get a Carrie vs. Marie Splatfest?
@Spoony_Tech: WOW! That's really an awesome theme! By far the best theme of all, if you ask me. I just begged NoE on twitter to give us that theme in Europe, too.
Although both would be tempting, I'd definitely travel to the past. I don't regret everything that has happened but I'm generally a person that tends to lament and brood about past choices that proved to be wrong later.
Also, I think traveling into the future would spoiler you and give you information that you're not intended to have.
My GOTY? Legend Of Zelda: Splat of the child. Ah no, I meant LoZ: Breath of the SPLATOOOON!
I'd travel back to the past just to see my reaction of how different I am since I was much more different 4 years ago outside of still liking video games.
@Spoony_Tech: Oh wow, what a hard one... Time to break out the pros and cons:
Past
Pros:
_ Could visit any famous deceased person or ancestor I wanted, including my grandparents (or myself?)
_ Could learn so many things about life on the past in different time periods.
_ Could see Jazz being played back when it was that edgy bane of society.
Cons:
_ Can risk negative effects on the future.
_ Assuming I couldn't go forward again to the present, I'd be stuck without vital living conditions such as internet and toilets.
_ It would probably only be fun for a few weeks. My interest is limited to events in time I've heard about in history books.
Future
Pros:
_ My interest in the future limited only by how far humanity goes. Assuming humanity doesn't end before the planet does, there would be a lot more human existence to explore.
_ Access to advanced technology.
_ possibilities of a more progressive and peaceful society.
_ I'd get to play a bunch of awesome "new" Nintendo games right away.
Cons:
_ The future may be so incomprehensible that it is frightening.
_ I may learn something I didn't want to know.
_ The future might suck (humanity ends, alien overlords, atmosphere is fatal, no one speaks English anymore, etc)
_ Pretty much everything in the pro list is based on guesswork.
So in conclusion, the future is so much more interesting, yet way riskier and could suck. Am I feeling more adventurous, or do I feel like taking a much safer vacation?
Definitely past. Back To the Future II shows why. You would easily become a millionaire.
You would get to spend time with your grandparents and whoever died, and you will feel smart about everything where in the future you will be like Fry from Futurama... a nincompoop. Of course future is more tempting than present but past will win.
Future would definitely be my choice. It would be amazing to see what technology they have. I'm in Europe though, so I'll have to wait longer for a mediocre theme.
@crimsontadpoles: I can't help but feel that if Europe did get this; people would complain and call it mediocre anyway just because of Europe Splatfest track record in themes.
Once a LuigiMan, now a Dreamy representation of the Goddess of Nature.
Retired Palutena Gem Provider. Mario Maker Levels
_ Assuming I couldn't go forward again to the present, I'd be stuck without vital living conditions such as internet and toilets.
Oh, hadn't thought about it that way! If that's the premise, then I would definitely choose the future. Often in my life I felt like I was ahead of my time (e.g. using smartphones back in 2002 when almost nobody except the mobile telephone freaks knew what a smartphone is - I always had to explain myself to people) and I still hate that progress (not only technical! just any kind of improvement) in the world is going so slow when a lot of things would (technically) be already possible but the people's will is in the way.
My GOTY? Legend Of Zelda: Splat of the child. Ah no, I meant LoZ: Breath of the SPLATOOOON!
I'd travel back in time to the mid-00s to be able to play Paper Mario TTYD and a number of other great GC games I never got for a reasonable price seeing as Nintendo has no interest in putting GC games on VC. The future has the large downside of the NX.
@crimsontadpoles: I feel with you... @DreamyViridi: I can't imagine that and I was always one of the fiercest critics of the NoE Splatfest themes! Let's show NoE that we would love this theme by tweeting them. ^^
My GOTY? Legend Of Zelda: Splat of the child. Ah no, I meant LoZ: Breath of the SPLATOOOON!
@Spoony_Tech: Thats a tough one for me I like both but if i had to pick Future. I love reading about various future inventions and Non Fictional stories too. When i was in 4th grade i remember reading a book on future inventions. One that peaked my interest was a phone that was also a music player and a video player.(this was around the time those green led carbon phones were the latest in cell phone technology XD )
@DreamyViridi: I would be totally in favour of that! They could just expand the Splatfest to 48 instead of 24 hours and it would also make sure to have enough players for the Fest (not that there were too few players, but during nights you often run into the same people). It would be nice if all regions would at least get one final Splatfest together at the end of Splatoon 1's (or the Wii U's) lifetime.
That said I just realized that Splatoon 2 has to be a launch title for NX. Otherwise millions of players would stick with the old console and not buy the NX until Splatoon 2 is out (similar to people who only buy the system for Smash).
