@DarthNocturnal: I was expecting a reply like that, so I ran a little test for myself, you can go on to call me a liar if you want, but I'll say it anyway. I presume you're referring to my "pages and pages" about Star Fox Zero comment? Well after typing that to prove my point, I chose a random number to look at a page in the SFZ thread and I chose 24 (because 249 is Lugia's Pokedex number) and waddya know, halfway down that page, someone compared Star Fox Zero's graphics to that of a PS1 game. A hyperbolic statement to be sure. I'm not kidding either, go have a loom yourself if you want, and while you're there do the same thing I did and pick a random page to look at and no doubt it'll have at least 5 comments about graphics.
Nothing at all wrong about criticising the game, I'll say it again that at this stage this game hasn't won me over and I sure as heck ain't buying it day one. But just as they're people like you (or worse than you as there are those who seem to like criticising games from companies they hate but still come back here daily for some reason) who want to criticise the game, there are people who want to give it a chance and not be constantly drowned out by the 'TTYD is God Miyamoto is Satan' brigade.
There's no parity here at all. Just constant whinging, complaints and negativity.
Some of us don't want that, at least not all the time and at this stage.
@Meowpheel: If there are enough reasons to have a bajillion NX threads I think this is a good idea to keep people from going at loggerheads at each other. There's been enough people who've said already they'd be in favour of it so I find it difficult to believe there is "no need" for it.
I'm sorry, but having this thread simply means that we can also have a thread exclusively meant to say negative things about those games, or about any other thing
@DarthNocturnal: and I agree with you, I know you're not one of the idiots, and for the reasons you and I have listed having seperate threads for a game like this makes sense, which is why it's disappointing the appreciation thread has just been locked.
Back to the Sticker Star memes everyone! Paper Mario is dead!!!!! Ayieeeeeeeeeee!
But as I was saying, I'm excited for this game because it's Paper Mario. I can't wait to see what more is revealed. I'm cautiously optimistic, but I like what I saw so far. I liked the realism it kind of had in the trailer, I didn't expect that. But the WiiU will do that. /looks at Pikmin 3
I have been reading this thread casually, but I haven't found anyone going completely full negative and angry about anything. At most they're saying they think the game will be bad (which in the grand scheme of things, is completely useless information), but that's it.
If you think anyone is going overboard or trying to silence others then please report them so we can review the comments.
Let's remain cordial and logical about the whole situation, please.
@Meowpheel: well you only need look at the very first page and one of the very first comments to see a "Paper Mario is dead" comment, and the aforementioned terrible, annoying memes are on the previous page. It's kinda hard to stay even a little positive around all that noise and negativity, that's why I think you could have had special circumstances here and justified a seperate thread.
Oh well having such low standards for this site ain't my problem to worry about so I'll just ignore this thread from now on so that once the memes return I'll be well away from them.
I have to agree though, I stopped looking in this thread because all I could see was "paper mario is dead", memes, a bunch of crap, and the fact the discussion turned into "what they did wrong with Sticker Star and why you're wrong if you liked it". I only looked in again because of the news article from this very website, literally pointing out the drama and hate for the game already. Which ironically is being defended and ignored now.
Lol double post just chillin for ages.
I definitely got a Sticker Star vibe from the video (as did everyone else apparently) but Sticker Star really only had 2 problems: no partners, and stickers (and therefore attacks) weren't reusable. The video from the direct seems to suggest that cards don't just go away. If anyone is familiar with Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories on the GBA, you basically made a deck of attack/skill cards that could be recycled after each battle. Some attacks could be reshuffled into the deck but others could only be used once per battle. It's possible Color Splash goes a route similar to this, which is fine. Doing so isn't all that different than having things like flower points. Either way, as long as the cards are reusable and you can't run out of attacks, I'm fine with the battle system from Sticker Star.
The lack of partners is concerning to me, but this is the first we've seen of the game. Paper Mario's personality basically comes from your partner, and having that variety helps keep the game fresh, never mind gameplay implications.
I see some people have taken an argumentation course... Regardless of the points being made, I'm here to unequivocally offer something to remind (or inform) us how awesome Paper Mario used to be when it still lived as the soul successor to the short-lived Super Mario RPG.
It would be almost incomprehensible to imagine they wouldn't pick up on the fact they've upset their fan-base with Color Splash's reveal being met mostly with disapproval. Nintendo should be primed to release an HD port of TTYD if you consider the Dolphin rendering looks stunning without any texture mods! I would absolutely throw my money at it.
I usually don't care about buying the same game again in HD (Wind Waker HD was a nice bonus I could download when I bought Mario Kart 8) but I would definetely buy TTYD HD just to support the old Paper Mario formula that worked so well.
It would be great if David Wise made soundtracks to all future Nintendo games.
@Luffymcduck: For me it would be the same. Although the game would be a nice VC release. On the GamePad in 480p is looks so great! Too bad we didn't get any GC games so far.
