It's going to happen. We all knew this was going to happen. Maybe next time Nintendo will see why releasing a console more similar to the previous gen than the current gen is s bad idea.
I don't care if PS4 outsells the Wii U. I care for what games the Wii U will get. The PS2 beat the GameCube as well, but that didn't stop GameCube from having some good games.
Blasphemy! No one thinks about fun or games. It's all about the sales these days!!!

Pachter would be more interesting (and arguably more effective) if he made predictions that were less obvious. What would be incredible, as far as game analysis is concerned, is if he predicted the 3DS would rebound after a troubling start. That would be miraculous and his victories would be easier to celebrate, his words more valuable. Any monkey reading entertainment media can make predictions like, 'The PS4 will outsell the Wii U'. Yes, that certainly seems to be the case. This isn't newsworthy nor is it particularly illuminating information for anyone unless you just don't pay attention to the gaming industry. Which brings me to the question - whose benefitting from his 'data'? He's also made huge errors in predicting the outcomes of gaming media. He consistently seems to have trouble making predictions that support Nintendo despite their many successes.
Pachter is a guy not even worth a facepalm. He does pretty bad job too with his "predictions" - and when he's right it's not prediction, it's stating the obvious.
Local Gamestop here puts the Wii U in the very back by the PC games, which isn't remotely close to the entrance or the registers. The PS3 and 360 and Wii are still up there with the PS4 and Xbox1 where they are very visible.
He's pretty much written off Nintendo- which historically isn't a good thing to do. Just b/c it had a slow start doesn't mean it's doomed to failure. FWIW, there is a chance that the Wii U outsold the XBone the week before Christmas: http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2013/12/31/wii-u-outsell...
Donkey Kong, Smash Bros. Zelda and Mario kart are system sellers. The Wii U is more compelling now than it was back in Sept. and will be very, very compelling next year at this time. I'm confident that the Wii U will eclipse the number that was given by Patcher of 20 million lifetime sales.

Sales directly effect games getting sequels look at the Pikmin series after Pikmin 3 performance I'm worried that we will never see another game just like Starfox and F-Zero even if they have excellent games in their respective Serieses.
This isn't crazy at all. He's probably being generous. PS4 surpassed Wii U in the UK on day 1 and is surely about to surpass the 1.5 million Wii Us in North America considering they sold a million on day 1.
As for people complaining his 'predictions' are too safe... are you for real? His job is to advise investors. It's not to make crazy predictions. He uses real data to tell them how things are going. He's down on Wii U sales because it's performing at Dreamcast levels. He's not saying it won't turn around, he's simply stating 'if things continue on this path, then...', because that's his job.
