@Ding-Dong: It is mind-blowing how many people fail to figure out the simplest things. It would be really helpful for creators if we could see all of the deaths. One thing you can do is play the uploaded course and die in an area that you want to know about and then it will show you the red x's for that one area. I think the majority of people who play this don't even actually know how most of the mechanics work. A lot of people don't know about Yoshi's floaty jump or even that he can walk on things. They also don't know anything about the spin jump. They might know how to do it but they don't know that it works on thwomps and piranha plants. You could post comments to help out the people who have them turned on. I suggest pictures rather than words though if you do because there are many players who don't speak English and no one plays Mario to read things. I can tell just from the overview that you did a really nice job though. I will check it out tonight.

Nintendo needs to require all new players to clear my How To Mario course ;c)

@Ding-Dong: Yeah I have to use coins to spell out directions in a bunch of my courses. I suspect a lot of people will learn how to blast through walls with the fire clown car for the first time when they play my newest upload... assuming they notice that it says, "HOLD Y," which many surely won't...

BTW, I bet I might be able to guess your favorite special effect in the game based on your screen name haha

I personally wish Fawful was a Mystery Mushroom costume. He even has a sprite already.

Guess who's back! As I promised on Miiverse (and even on this site, I can't remember), here are my new uploaded levels, 21-to-30. Feel free to play them if the premise somehow intrigues you!

And yeah, World 1-1nomaly IS a Gravity Falls level.

@AdamLikesNintend: thanks. I beat and starred all six courses. Robots in the machine is my favorite level from the 6 courses.

Someone around here had a How To Mario course that I actually got stuck on somehow. It was explaining wall jumps, which I know how to do, but they had to be really precise to progress past that section. I tried until the clock was going to run out and there was no way I would complete the course in time and then I gave up on the level. Truly frustrating. If you are going to have a How To Mario course it shouldn't require precision like that. The annoying thing is, I'm not even terribly bad at wall jumps. I'm probably a fair-to-middling Mario player.

But yours looks like a different one so I will try it out later. AGDQ is cutting into my Mario Maker time this week.

Anyways I made this course a while back. It uses a special mechanic that I believe I was the first person to discover.

@Chino2016: Awesome! Thanks! I look forward to seeing them.

@TheLobster: Oh that's interesting. I would like to see it! Mine is one of my most starred to my surprise. I'm glad though because it was a ton of effort. It used to have a similar issue where you had to do a mid-air spin to make a certain jump. It wasn't pixel perfect but I quickly realized it was too specific for beginners and added another block to the ledge so that it is easier to do which seemed to help people considerably. I made a couple of the moves optional actually, like the triple jump (I forget it's tricky for people to learn exactly how to do it). The clear rate is about as high as I expect on a non auto course so that's a good sign.

@Wittgenstein: I'll check it out if you post the bookmark link.

The bookmark says "Super Expert," but I didn't think it was that bad, which is why I put Medium on Nintendo Life.

@AdamLikesNintend: Unfortunately I can't remember the course and I've taken it out of my bookmarks, so it may be lost forever. Good riddance, haha. It did have a lower clear rate than yours. It was "Normal" instead of "Easy." On the low percent end of normal actually but I can still generally clear that.

@dizzy_boy No problem! It was a fun short course

If anyone else would like to see a video of their level, look at the details below

Hey everyone, do you want to see me play your level on my YouTube channel? Since I assume there will be dozens of submissions, I want to narrow that down by a little game.

If you beat one of my levels you are automatically chosen. All you have to do is, leave an in-game comment (eg: Nice level. Try my "name of level"). Clear any Super Expert level and get 2 of your levels featured.

If you cannot beat a level, leave an in-game comment where you die (eg: "this is as far as I can make it " ) and I will play one of your levels and you will be entered in a draw. Every Sunday I will play all submissions and the top 10 levels I like will be featured.

LET'S BEGIN!

PS: Please note, to make it fair it's only 1 level per person (2 for Super Expert). Please don't submit "troll" levels or ridiculous clear rate (like 1/1000) 😔

Here's a level I spent a while creating. It's not getting many plays so hoping to get some people actually playing it and some feedback. Also sometimes I'm not sure how to classify level difficulty. To me this level is a medium, but maybe it should be hard? If you know how to use Yoshi properly, like his flutter jump, and also wall jumping, then you should be fine.

I bookmarked it, going to be awhile though before I get to it.

If you like challenges that aren't all based on pixel-perfect timing and insane jumps, then try this level out. I wanted to create a level that seemed like it could fit in Super Mario Bros. 3, except for the length. There aren't really any "long" levels in that game, so other than that (and the occassional pipe that distributes powerups so people don't get stuck) this should kind of feel like it would fit in that game.

I designed it to have three difficulty levels, though all are difficult. The first is simply to get the end, which is a challenge in itself because of the length and no check points. I strongly considered adding checkpoints, but it would compromise the other two "difficulty settings". The second difficulty level is not only beating the level, but also finding 7 green mushrooms. None are in trollish, impossible to guess areas. They are in locations that would fit the spirit of a Mario 3 level. The final and most challenging difficulty level is to find all 7 green mushroom, and earn 100 coins before you hit that end square. Again, I haven't included any impossible to guess locations, as most are in plain sight, but they will take some skill (and some problem solving) to figure out how to get them all. No doubt, if you want to master the level, a few completions will be required.

I enjoy playing these types of levels (they're my favorite to find on Mario Maker), and I enjoyed making it. Let me know what you think, and if you are stuck anywhere or want hints, let me know.

I looked at my Fortress of Trials level on the bookmarks site and it's labeled Super Expert. I uploaded it here and tagged it as Medium lol. I really don't think this level is that hard. Towards the end there is a part with large spinies on a path and you have to spin jump and stay bouncing on it as it winds around. It's not really that hard though, just tap the stick as it moves and you'll stay bouncing on it just fine, you just bounce straight up and down so it's not tricky.
https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/F172-000...

I guess I need to take my difficulty estimate and make it one more difficulty level higher than what I'd rate it myself. I consider myself to be an average player. I grew up with old school Mario though so maybe it's different for me compared to other people, don't know. My Cannonball Climb level is probably accurately labeled Super Expert, but I've played a lot harder Mario levels I never managed to beat (and not because they were cheap, just required insane precision). It took me forever to upload Cannonball Climb but that's only because I had to do the full clear. It can take a while nailing down the timing for the fast cannonballs.

Edit: My bad, you're actually bouncing on large spinies not the saw blades I had originally posted, don't know why I put saw blades.
