I honestly could not believe my eyes today. I still firmly believe I am dreaming. Someone pinch me. You mean to tell me Nintendo finally came to their senses and are actually providing an itemt to counteract that cheat of an item that is the blueshell!??? It may have taken them 7 games since MK64, but boy am I finally happy.

LOL so many fans demanded and roared at Nintendo to deliver a counterattack to the Blue Shell and now we have it....

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

@HaThready No, you couldn't use the D-pad, but you could plug in a nunchuck controller to avoid the majority of the motion controls. (Still had to shake the wiimote for wheelies, tricks, and to avoid the POW block.)

@HawkeyeWii Not that it's a big deal, but did you know you could actually counter the Blue Shell in Double Dash!! with a drift boost? And that a mushroom boost or drift boost could help you avoid it in MKWii? Mind you, this was nearly irrelevant as the timing was nearly impossible to nail down, but there has technically been a counter since Double Dash!!

For people wondering... YES. You can use the D-Pad on the Wiimote sideways (a control scheme that wasn't in MKW).

Why would anybody choose to use the d-pad?? It's archaic!

I've got a question bout the demo that gamestop will be hosting. Do you think it would be ok to record footage of myself playing the game and then upload it to youtube?

Yep I did know that. But yeah that does kind of defeat the point. It was incredibly hard to pull off. Now they have finally given us a concrete way to counter it. At last! I mean I am sure I will still get hit by the blue shell a lot due to not having the horn at the right time, but it will be significantly reduced!

I'm curious as to what place you have to be in to get it too. I can't imagine it being a 1st place item

I've seen some videos where right on the 1st lap, CPU's get the Super Horn pretty early. I personally think the Super Horn isn't as rare as Nintendo makes it out to be. It's possible to get it in 1st place too.

Well in the Nintendo's facebook they say that Super Horn is more common in the first places.

The full idea of it is to avoid the blue shell.

GameXplain says they've gotten it in first place and they've also said that it's uncommon, but not rare. Saying they got it a few times, but considering how many races they went through, it seemed like you couldn't really just hope to get it.

Wow. Kinda surprised to see the Mario Kart 8 reviews have just gone up. Fairly predictable (but good) score.

But anyone wanna explain to me the logic of having the reviews come out 2 weeks before the game? I can understand 1 week before. Let people see the high scores and then get ready to go and buy it. But 2 weeks? Some people might see the high score and have their attention grabbed by something next week instead.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

Easier to build up preorders if people are on the fence? OTOH, that strategy would only work if they are sure that the reviews are going to be generally favorable.
