Having recently replayed Access' divisive genre evolving cult classic Deadly Premonition and I can't help but wonder if this is a studio Nintendo could work with. They made an exclusivity agreement with Microsoft for D4 so maybe they could make a similar deal with Nintendo?? I know its unlikely they would be bought out by Nintendo but if we could see the directors cut of Deadly Premonition which came out late on PS3 ported over to test the waters maybe it could lead to a great exclusive for the WiiU or maybe a launch title for the NX??
Not sure about Deadly Premonition (didn't get it get a 2 out of 10 score from IGN?), but I enjoyed Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces on Wii. It had a nice atmosphere to it.
Deadly Premonition is one of the best games of the last gen, but from what I've seen from D4 it doesn't look as interesting. Very linear and QTE heavy. But a new Wii U (or successor) exclusive would be welcomed. I doubt it'll happen though.
Hey dude you're playing ISS64? Love that game. Here is a cool tip. Go near any extremity of the halfway line and do a long pass (c-left) diagonally (with the d-pad) to the adversary team's goal. The ball will go directly to your striker alone and running to the goal

Hey buddy its always nice to see a fellow ISS fan I've got that tip and a few others under my belt but thanks all the same. Going a little off topic here it's amazing how even after all these years N64 ISS has aged so well. It was years ahead of the FIFA games on PSone and even now its still smooth and fun and the commentary was spot on. 64 and 98 were both so ahead of there time. I played Pro Evo a lot and while I still prefer it to FIFA I would love to see them take the series in a new direction. Embrace the cheese give back the precise control of past slow down the pace of the passes a little and up the shot power a little football games don't need to be hyper realistic to be great but they do need to be fun and maybe the guys making football games these days need to realise that.

I think Nintendo have room for two horror franchises and it would be great if Access was responsible for one of them but like you say its unlikely to happen but if it ever did then get ready to see me at the front of the line it was a spooky game for sure but I loved the humour and the characters were well written and the whole thing felt like a labour of love and yeah I'd really like to experience something unique like that again

I had forgotten that was them your right it had a great atmosphere I guess these guys really know how to create a feel whatever the setting
I agree with you. Modern soccer games are unplayable for me. They're way too complex. I have the feeling I don't control anything. I wish arcade soccer games went back
And about Access, well they're typically the middle-sized studio that needs a big wallet to support them if they want to exist in the actual market where only AAA and indie games get all the attention. They make good games (except Drakengard 3. I'm usually an easy audience but this game is really a piece of poopitypoopoop) but they're just AA games and they don't sell very well.
So yeah they would probably be happy to get a partnership with Nintendo. But has Nintendo the money and the envy to work with them that's another question.

I think AA developers are the often forgotten side of the industry. Realistically AA games are easier to secure for an exclusive rather than a massive AAA release and I think a good catalog of AA titles can really make a difference to a consoles success IF there is also the AAA big hitters to go along with them. Nintendo have provided a lot of quality first party AAA releases for the WiiU but I think the lack of a solid AA every month or so has hurt it. As for Access I think Nintendo has the money in the bank to make something like this happen but I think they are a little risk averse (after all its that attidude that has kept them financially stable) but I think going forward they will need to take these risked if they are to succeed long term. The deal with Platinum games was a good start if we could see a few more deals like that and importantly the marketing and support from Nintendo to go with it then I think we're onto a winner.
Regarding football games (I notice you call them soccer ) FIFA 13 was a big meh for me. A fee good ideas but the core gameplay was lacklustre. I think there is a market for both the ultra realistic and arcade experiences. Mario football games are fun but they feel more like a party game to me. I think there are developers out there who could make that great arcade football game and it doesn't need to be an annual release just support it well with annual dlc paid and free and everyone wins.
