Very nice! I need to pick up a ROB again one of these days. I wish i still had my original, but he has sadly been lost to the sands of time. I do still have my original Gyromite cart though!
@HandheldGuru97
Congrats, man. I definitely want to get a Gameboy Light one day, but they are fairly pricey. I'm basically waiting to see if maybe i can come across one for a decent price before getting it.
@KingMike
Definitely true. But honestly, those were only two easy to compare examples — everything in the store, from the popular games, to the commons, to the rares were all insanely overpriced to a ridiculous degree in most cases. I mean, part of it is because the store's in NYC, so they do need to cover their overhead (as i said, store rent alone in the city is insane). Everything is always more expensive in NYC, but their pricing was more towards the greedy side of things.
Cut off the front? Did you want the whole box to be visible or just the front cover? If it was the latter, you could've just flattened the box (taking the contents out, open both ends then folded the side over). For the former, I guess opening along the glued end would've been the least damaging.
I recently separated my CIB Super Famicom games to save space (carts, manuals, trays and folded boxes each in separate storage boxes).
And I saw your post about the GBA SP and remembered that was the same day the DS launched, so that's also 10 years old.
And I feel old now... that means when you were born I was playing Breath of Fire 1 the first time... first game I ever bought on my own.

I assume this part of your post wasn't directed at me ... considering that when i was born, the Atari 2600 hadn't even been released yet. i am be da oldest GET OFFA MAH LAWN!
Placed an order for a CIB Japanese Rolling Thunder 2.
I guess it seemed silly to have just the other two games, although both of them loose (I had originally got just the FC RT1 cart, but some time later picked up a RT3 cart when I found it in a shop and it seemed like a cheap price).
BMX XXX (XBox) - some of you might recall this infamous game, which tried to parlay "controversy" over the fact that it has unlockable nudity stripper vids into sales. It failed miserably in that regard, and is now basically nothing more than a footnote in gaming history. Anyways, i was reading some random stuff on the VGC's site and saw his review of this game and thought "Hmm. Let's see if i can get this game cheap, just on principle." Remember, buying games purely on principle (generally along the lines of "This game exists. People spent time and money to make this. It is real.") is a thing of mine — which is why i own "Who Wants to Beat Up a Millionaire" for Dreamcast. So i head over to eBay and see a copy with a bid in at like 50 cents. I throw in a bid for $1.05 ... and won. Got it today, and honestly, much to my surprise ... It's Not That Bad (copyright Derek Alexander). It's not good — make no mistake — but it's basically a fun game that is a ripoff of Tony Hawk 2 &3. I am thoroughly loving this horrible game.
Wasn't that one of several questionable things Acclaim did? You know it's bad when the guy that had been endorsing that franchise told Acclaim to keep his name off that game.
I heard that Acclaim promoted another game by offering to pay all speeding tickets somewhere for a day, and another where they wanted to advertise on real gravestones.
At long, long last ladies and gents of Nintendo Life I present to you:
The Japan only Gameboy Light for just about $110, no games, but no need. I set a goal for myself 5 long years ago...complete the entire Gameboy Line by the 10th anniversary of when I received my first Gameboy; the Gameboy Advance SP on November 22 2004 my seventh birthday...I did it...I actually did it Wow...unbelievable...I'm over the moon happy right now. I do have to wait until until my birthday to open it though, but that is just a small price to pay for this little machine.
Quick update to my little story! I got the Light today...OMG, OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Works like a charm, screen has a few scratches, but in great shape overall! Can't play it until the 22...but I was allowed to test and make sure it functioned! Now to wait......
Formally Square-enixFan, Neo-GeoFan. A lover of fine games and handheld systems!!!!!!!!!! The New 3DS XL is amazing, soon the NX will be upon us! Backloggery Check my Youtube channel out! http://www.youtube.com/user/Ha...

Yes, if memory serves, it was originally developed as another Dave Mirra BMX game, but without his consent/input/being paid, so they had to release it without the Mirra name attached. Gotta love Acclaim! (full disclosure: Acclaim was Long Island based company, so i always have a soft spot for them ).
Honestly though, as i mentioned, it is actually an enjoyable game if you can look past the obvious faults (camera issues, clipping & other graphics issues, etc). The in-game soundtrack definitely makes up for it as well (if you enjoy the music — classic Green Day, 311, Sublime, Motley Crue, etc). I am a huge fan of Tony Hawk 3 (possibly in my top 10 post-2000 games), and this game plays so similarly — and has that extra "so bad it's good" factor going for it — that i can't help but love it.
I'm actually playing it right now, delivering hookers to their pimp. When i wipe out, they deliver such wisdom as "You suck harder than i do!"
Also, @HandheldGuru97 - i am honestly jealous of your Light. I need to get one of those stat.
@the_shpydar thanks man, it is above and beyond amazing!! (from the teeny tiny seconds I got to see it in action! ) If you're a handheld collector (or a Gameboy fan or a Ninty fan in general!) you owe it to yourself to get one. Now granted they are a little pricey... $100 for a Light...I'd say its worth it, but thats just me.

I've been looking for Life & Death II: The Brain for a while now. I really enjoyed the first one (Found it on a compilation disk in my grandpa's attack) and really wanted to try the second. I never really thought about getting it in box, and I never really considered buying Theme Hospital or the original Life & Death either, but I found this on eBay and couldn't pass it up. All the games come with everything originally included, (Although some of the floppy disks clearly aren't original- but I still got the games so who cares?!?! ) and it's all in great condition. I manged to get all the games running in DOSBox too!

So for my latest retro gaming excursion, I have recently gotten Kemco-Saika's SNES port of Zoom's A-RPG Lagoon last night. I'm not going to lie, the very close combat system with Nasir's tiny sword is a bit annoying sometimes, but aside from that I'm getting into it all right... even if it is an Ys clone, even if it isn't as good as the traditionally best the Ys series has to offer (mainly Ys IV: Mask of the Sun). I love its immersive music, and so far not bad, imo.
So there's this powerup in the second town that's supposed to raise the HP/MP recovery rate, but it doesn't seem to do anything. But it costs 10k and you can only buy it then. I recall it took me like 5 hours of gold farming to get (as the enemies only give you like 3-5 gold each). I think I recorded myself singing the music by the halfway point.
@WanderFan91: I was enjoying Lagoon a while ago until my battery died and I lost my save I don't think I can ever go back and start that game over again.
To blessed to be stressed.
80's music makes me feel fabulous.
What Would Duane Do? Rynoggery
My one recent retro purchase would be Gauntlet for NES, "licensed" version.
Though I kind of wonder what the pedantic who believe Nintendo would call it, as Nintendo has denounced Tengen as ever releasing any licensed games.
"ex-licensed"?
I probably overpaid, as the unlicensed version seems to be more abundant and cheaper.
@KingMike: But more expensive versions are always better, for a collector anyway.
Picked up Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures. I recently realized it was developed by Factor 5 so I knew I had to get it. Plus, who didn't want to be Indiana Jones as a kid of the 80's?
Also, doesn't really count here but recently downloaded Sonic CD and Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 on my PS3 when they were on sale last week. My PS3 is quite the retro Sega machine.

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.
And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)
