Fifth for me! So many legendary games; Mario64. Oot, Half Life, Star Fox 64, the list goes on....
Oh yes, the fifth generation because the N64 is my all time favorite and the list does indeed go on and on - Goldeneye 007, Perfect Dark Banjo Kazooie and its sequel, TLOZ Majora's Mask, F-Zero X, DK 64, Conkers Bad Fur Day, Mario Kart 64, Turok, ISS 64, ISS 98. These are just some of my favorites but there was so many more excellent titles released for that console, anyone remember Rocket Robot on Wheels?
6th Generation : Game Boy Advance, Gamecube, and Playstation 2
Love them all. So many memories. GBA : Great handheld, Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire is all that needs to be said. GC : A very underrated Nintendo system, with the best games. Metroid Prime, Super Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker, Super Smash Bros. Melee, the list goes on. PS2 : When Playstation had the coolest platformers, along with a series I love, Kingdom Hearts getting a start.
The 4th and 5th generations are both near and dear to my heart, but for pure quantity of games that I love, it's probably the 6th generation. The GameCube had a much stronger library than anyone seems to remember, the PlayStation 2 may very well have had the strongest gaming library ever assembled (and it was an absolute haven for RPGs), the Dreamcast was an amazing cult system (and the last great place for fighters until the genre's recent revival), the Game Boy Advance was an excellent source for ports and 2D gaming, and even though it didn't really cater much to my gaming interests, the original Xbox still had great stuff like Jade Empire, Jet Set Radio Future and KOTOR.
And if we're throwing the DS overlap into the mix, end of story. I'd take the PS2' and DS's libraries over any other console/handheld combination ever.

I want to say this gen, but the difference before and after 2008 is like day and night. It started awful, it is now amazing in almost every way.
Major nostalgia bias but I'll say 5th gen. Well kinda nostalgia bias, as in it had the most awesome games I played (playing my friend's PS1 often and basically every N64 game). And every game I've replayed, I think is still as good, if not better than what I thought as a kid (with the exceptions of FF8, Mario Kart 64 and the still really good OOT. Somehow I knew Smash Bros. 1 didn't live up to its potential as a 10 year old). Especially N64. What it lacked in quantity it more than made up for quality. No nostalgia bias for Bomberman 64 or Jet Force Gemini (wasn't a fan of either as a kid), they are seriously underrated games that need more love. Glover is the perfect example of a game that I should hate now, but no, it's still a good game, I don't care about how lazy and dumb it looks. It rules. And you know the rest of the games, seriously.
Banjo games, Diddy Kong Racing, Majora's Mask, MISCHIEF MAKERS, Yoshi's Story, Mario 64, Mario Parties, Paper Mario, Chameleon Twist, THPS2, Donkey Kong 64, Battle TANX, Episode 1 racer, Megaman 64, Wacerace, Micro Machines, Star Fox 64, Wipeout 64
The Crash and Spyro and Gex trilogies, Tomba 1 and 2, Ape Escape, Tekken 2 and 3, Twisted Metal 1 and 2, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant story, Croc, Crash team racing, MGS1
just to name some. Quite a few PS1 games I remember enjoying that I don't know the name of honestly.
And there's lots of games I never even played (or played for like 5 minutes) that people love like Goldeneye. Conker's Bad Fur Day, Symphony of the Night, FFIX, Silent Hill, old school GTA, Xenogears, countless other PS1 JRPGs, Croc 2 etc.
