the nintendo DS has been doing tremendously well, couldn't agree more with that.
i'm a fan of the N.E.S and so i'd go for 3rd gen- however, the SNES vs megadrive/genesis era almost makes the nintendo, sony, microsoft rivalry almost obsolete.
very hard to say. is nostalgia winning me over the latest more complex generation of gaming ?
i would say the fourth generation gave me a new world of game. Fifth with the playstation was quite good too, gave me incredible RPGs.
im a fourth generation fan ! nostalgia got the best of me. the Touch generation goes very close, and it reminds me a lot of what the fourth gen gave me.

yeaaah damn right. i remember all those TV ads where sega was bashing nintendo. dont remember nintendo bashing anything altough. did they ?
Tricky question. As Samholy mentioned, nostalgia always seems to be a controversial topic. I like how many good games came out for the NES and SNES, but I probably played my N64 more than any system. While some of my favorite games are on the N64, it's library overall was fairly weak imo. I felt the GCN/PS2 years put out some of the most innovative games. I haven't had a chance to play a whole bunch of games in the current gen, but most games weren't very appealing, HOWEVER, the games I thought were good were incredible (NSMBW, Galaxys, DKCR) so it's a toss up. I was very anti-new gen for a while, but I changed my bias and now look for good in all systems.
Was born in 1989 so I can't speak a log for the NES generation or before that (but they did have awesome games). Still, can't decide between the SNES era or the 64 era. Used to find the Nintendo vs. Sega war kind of fun actually (always have went with Nintendo). I just never really have liked Sony at all though.

The 4th generation is my favorite. I love the SNES and if I downsized to 1 system that for sure would be the last one standing! The 3rd generation with the NES is a very close 2nd. Everything else is a distant 3-7.
6th Generation. Nothing will ever be able to beat that generation. It was the era where Nintendo was the most creative, and where the best platformers were created on the PS2. It was the era that saw tons of great SMT games, tons of great Tales of Games, and of course some of the most reknowned FPSes in history. It was where the GBA brought the best of the 16-bit era to handhelds, as well as introduced tons of lost gems. There's no way they'll ever be able to top that gen in my eyes.
I have to go with the 16 bit Gen. Just something with the SNES and the Genesis that overall they both had alot of games that I wanted to play that Gen. The current gen has some but not as many as the SNES and Genesis IMO. Besides the whole 16 bit war was great it made publishers really crank out top notch games to compete with one another.

4th gen, hands down. Though I can't say I'm without bias; being born in '89, I'm a 90s child who grew up with SNES as my first console ever (and loved the Genesis at my cousin's house as well). I did enjoy 5th gen a lot too, but 4th gen is where I started. So I have the nostalgia factor. In addition, I don't feel those classics will ever be topped. SMW was my favorite Mario title, the DKC games were the height of DK (though DK64 was so amazing and I will forever wish for a sequel there), Paper Mario could never live up to Super Mario RPG, Kirby Superstar was the PERFECT Kirby game... sure, there were a few new IPs later on that I loved, like Banjo Kazooie, Pikmin, Smash Bros, and more.

I vote sixth generation. The Dreamcast and Xbox were phenomenal. That's when 3D gaming really hit its stride. The PS360 hasn't done much to improve on it.

The.....I........What
-The Advent of Digital Distribution on consoles.
Taking consoles from a niche 1 only thing device to some of the best media centers on the market. Stuff like the Motion Capture technology from L.A. Noir or the Tech Demo of Alan Wake from 07. More community interaction and crazy online interaction between players not seen before. Console MMO's Game Demo being at the ready before launch.
I could go on. While I can see you enjoying the sixth Gen more it would be greatly inaccurate to say that the 7th Gen hasn't improved upon it. I mean take say Halo 2 and God of War 2 and compare them to Uncharted 3 and Gears of War 3 difference is night and day.
