1) Double Dash Loved the courses, the x2 rider concept and the big driver selection upgrade. Plus the 'All Cup Tour' was the #1 way to kill an hour of free time for years.
2) Super Mario Kart Probably blinded by nostalgia but even replaying it recently this game is just dripping with charm so no matter how dated it looks I think it'll always be a ton of fun.
3) Mario Kart 64 Honestly it feels like it's aged worse than SMK but for it's time it felt downright revolutionary. I'm also still a little bitter about Wario replacing Koopa Troopa, that wasn't cool Nintendo!
4) Mario Kart Wii The online just isn't a selling point for me and it feels like it became a bit too chaotic for my tastes. Still fun but not up to it's predecessors level IMO.
5&6) Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart Super Circuit Maybe I just have big clumsy lumberjack hands or something but I can't stand playing faster paced games on handhelds.
1. N64 - Best multiplayer by far, 4-player battles on Block Fort will never get old, liked it so much I bought it again on VC 2. DS - Quite possibly my favorite in terms of tracks, had some real gems on it, really liked the retro tracks too 3. Double Dash - Don't know why everybody bashed the "pairs" mechanic, out of the three games with original karts these were my favorite, loved the special items and strategy to it, preferred racing to battles in this one, but loved Bob-omb mode 4. Wii - Online was perfect, tracks were good for the most part too, didn't mind the bikes, just wish the music and sound effects were better. UGH! have to play with the volume turned down and the stereo playing something else 5. Super Circuit - Too many tracks to unlock, wish it were more original, liked the tracks though especially Sky Garden (made it to DS!) and Ribbon Road 6. Super Mario Kart - Wanted to like this one, and they're all great, but I was spoiled on the other ones and played this one last. I think if I had played them in the right order I would have enjoyed this one more

Yes. This. I did the same thing. And I can't pass up this opportunity to promote this video of me and my friend playing. I still watch it from time to time and thing it's hilarious. I hope you feel the same. But maybe it's just annoying. I apologize in advance. [youtube:JtyD6h_XlW0] Super Circuit wasn't particularly great, but it was alright. Still, it's probably my least favorite. Double Dash was fun, and it looked great, but I didn't like the way the karts controlled. I've never played the DS one, since I don't have a DS
1. Mario Kart 64 2. Super Mario Kart 3. Double Dash 4. Mario Kart Wii
It's a tie for first between Super and 64 for me. Next would be the DS one, and since I haven't played Super Circuit Wii and DD are tied for last. They just aren't really all that good.

@grenworthshero: Double Deck is my second favorite course. Those two are definitely the better ones. Never play on Big Donut and is it just me or do Skyscraper 4-player matches run on steroids?

No, It's definitely a lot faster on Skyscraper. Big Donut is pretty much worthless, and Skyscraper is almost as bad. I used to think Double Deck was the worst and Skyscraper was the best, but when I started playing at least 40 matches per day for two years straight, I changed my mind. Double Deck is the best for two-player matches, but Block Fort is probably better if you have 4 players. Me and my friends always shoot off a ton of green shells on ground level so it becomes almost impossible to drive for more than a few seconds without getting hit. That makes it more exciting because we're pretty much limited to the top two levels.
I have played all of them except Double Dash and DS. The Double rider thing didnt appeal to me when it first came out and I just never got around to the DS one. Anyway in order and the reason they are in that order.
1. Mario Kart Wii: Even though I cant use the wheel (what can I say I grew up on the using controllers for Mario Kart games) I like the online capability plus I like the different vehicles plus the retro tracks are a nice touch and brings back memories.
2. Super Mario Kart: Ah so many memories with this game. Even though the other ones have more tracks or drivers, this one has had some of my best racing moments and its hard to top some of them. I would still go back and play this one if I still had a SNES. Besides its the only Mario Kart that has the Koopa Troopa as a driver untill Mario Kart Wii.
3. Mario Kart 64: To me what Super Mario Kart did Mario Kart 64 improved on. This was one of the few games that made me get and keep my N64 for sooo long. Plus I remember my first time doing the 4 player battle race my friends and I were so amazed by it we must of played that for months.
4. Mario Kart Super Circuit: This one reminded me of the SNES one alot and again the retro tracks brought back alot of memories. Wish I still had this game.
5. Mario Kart Arcade GP: Its Mario Kart in the Arcade what more can you ask for plus it was neat seeing Pacman Mrs Pacman and Blinky in the game as well.
