Hi I don't know if there's a thread for this already, but if there's not I wanna make one. Is it true that Super Mario 64 was called Super Mario FX? I heard people said yes and some said no. Please provide proof. I wanna say yes due to the code name of the FX chip. I mean come on, the could've made a sweet Mario game outta that.

I have read that Super Mario FX and Super Mario 64 were are two separate games. Apparently, Miyamoto was working on FX and it was going to be the first 3D Mario game, but it was pushed aside for Super Mario 64.

I read it here : http://nintendo.wikia.com/wiki/Super_Mario_FX

Of course, I hadn't heard about it at all until you posted this, so I have no clue if it's valid or not. D:

@NintyFan that was the article I read. Also, if you go on Super mario Wiki/beta elements/Super Mario 64, it said SM64 was called Super Mario FX.

Super Mario 64 was going to be developed for the Super Nintendo. The development team thought it was going to be better to make it on actual 3d rendering software
