Topic: SNES not powering up!

Hi everyone. I’ve got a SNES (from 1995) console which until today was working fine.

Basically, last week, I unscrewed it’s to check it was a 1Chip SNES (after researching online). After carefully unscrewing certain parts I was able to confirm it was a 1Chip. I carefully put it back together and put it away.

Today, I plugged in the power supply and when I turned the console on the red light doesn’t light up. I’ve changed the fuse in the plug but it’s not solved the problem.

Could I have inadvertently damaged it with static?

Also can anyone recommend someone who can repair a SNES in the UK, preferably not far from Manchester?

Many thanks in advance!

You will probably have to post it to get it fixed to a company like this: https://consoledoctor.co.uk/

I've got to do a similar thing with a broken Game Gear.

I'm also going to be opening up two of my SNES' that I suspect are 1chips. Hopefully I won't break them.

Good luck with the repair!

@CaptainNorth20 It's difficult to troubleshoot over the internet, of course, but I would tell you that while it is possible the SNES has been damaged, you may want to investigate the power supply, and perhaps you already have. Things to consider: is the power supply correct in terms of amps, volts, and polarity(I think it is center negative, which is less common)? Can the power supply be faulty? Can the connection to the console be loose? You can check with an electrical meter if you have one on hand to see if the power supply provides power. I had a power supply for my old Game Gear that severed internally and could only provide power with the cable positioned just right. You can plug it in and move the cable around to see if the console gets power. Also, the SNES itself has a fuse that can cause that, I believe. If your power supply is incorrect, you may have blown the fuse. That's all that comes to mind. You should be able to check youtube for troubleshooting a SNES that won't power on to see if there are other things. Good luck to you.
