Spoilers for The a Minish Cap

I'm at the end of The Minish Cap. I've really enjoyed it, and I've almost obtained everything in the game. I tried fighting Vaati but I cannot figure out how to damage his second phase. I've used a walkthrough a few times, so I know there's a mirror shield to be found somewhere. But I don't have it yet, which I think is curious. Looking at the attack, I can see how the mirror shield would be used to reflect the dark beams.

I have every other item, all four bottles, and six tiger scrolls. I've ordered my seventh swordsman newsletter at the post office, but the lady says Swiftblade is waiting to pass on a technique to a new student, presumably me.

I've met two other sword masters who won't teach me yet. One is Greatblade in North Hyrule. The other is Swiftblade in the Castor Wilds. Is there are a third swordsman I haven't found yet? I feel like I've done everything there is to do, so I don't know where he'd be hiding.

There are only a couple of places I found that I cannot reach yet. On the river at the north of Trilby Highlands, there's a digging cave in the river bank that doesn't have a pad so I can't enter. There's also a couple of buried tree seeds that haven't sprouted. And think there's a briar tree that is still locked too. So my only conclusion is that I need to fuse more kinstones, but I've talked to every single person. Nobody wants to fuse. Am I missing something?

Thank you.

Ok so I got lucky finding a couple more people to fuse with. there was a little girl in the hotel who unlocked the cave in Trilby Highlands, But nothing of significance there. I also checked again with the forest Minish in the Eastern Hills, and fusing with him grew the tree outside. I'm positive I'd already checked with him though, so I don't know what happened this time.

I can't help you much since I haven't replayed this since it first came out, but I believe I can explain your last fusion experience. Some fusions are what I've seen fans term "fickle". They won't be available every single time you visit that person.

So you probably did check with them previously, but weren't offered the opportunity to fuse since they're one of the fickle fusions.

I've always wondered if it's possible to permanently miss fusions.
I recall on my OG playthrough I got 98% (if I remember, Tingle tells you how many you got?) and just couldn't find the last ones.
About Mirror Shield, I've heard it's the prize for 100% gacha collection, and then I've also heard it's not, maybe one of the fusions I missed. I've finished the game and never found it.

One thing I've heard is that the European version (and maybe Japanese version, since it was released a week before it) has some bugs that make at least the big bomb bag unobtainable. Unsure what else is glitched.
The US version was released two months after the other two regions and fixed some stuff, though it for whatever reason removed the language option, and also added a rather annoying feature where the game will force the sidekick hint message on the player every time they reload a save game.

I don't believe there's miss-able fusions, at least in the improved North American release like I played

Some fusion opportunities change during the course of the game such as late in the playthrough when the village area is evacuated. But they're always replaced by new fusion opportunities.

The one thing I recall being referenced as miss-able, are the light arrows. Some quest revolving around a ghost is how they're earned. I recall having heard about that back when the game was new and made a point to make sure that was done in order to not wait too long and be unable to earn the light arrows.

I need to fire up my cartridge one of these days and fully wrap up my save file. Everything was done including the figurines, but one heart piece eluded me back then. These days there's probably a well done YouTube walkthrough I can reference that's only about the heart pieces, making it a fairly simple task to finish that last .1% of the game.

Figurines were a lesson on gacha to me, thankfully before companies started charging real money!
The probability of getting a new figure decreases with each pull.

I didn't go through the figurine quest the conventional way. I just always spent enough to guarantee I'd get a new one every time. Took a bit of effort, but it's probably the quickest and easiest way to do it.

Took a lot of trips to Link's house though to mine rupees to pay for it all (There's a great spot to dig right outside the window that nets something like 50 rupees every time).
