@NEStalgia Yes. Ultimate is the way to go in Forza Horizon 4 because you get all the cars and most importantly the two future expansions, while Ultimate doesn't include the expansions in the last game. You can buy Forza Horizon 4 Ultimate Edition or if you have Forza Horizon 4 on Game Pass you can just buy the Ultimate Add-ons Bundle so there are two ways.

EDIT: LOL Now I get it... $100,000,000.00

@ReaderRagfish Yes but I played the PS4 edition which is the remake and it's a messy combination of real-time super fast boss battles and turned-based thinking. I had fun after some hours playing normal battles because I learnt how to use the cards, sleights and items in an efficient way.

EDIT: You can play Sea of Thieves on your own but it's an online game always.

I love how FFXV Mobile Port is $20 and FFXV Royal is $25.....

The reasons why I love Final Fantasy are the stories, characters and fantasy themes... and soundtracks. I don't think that any of them is a gameplay masterpiece but I haven't found many games that are better as a piece of art. What I love about Kingdom Hearts is its simplicity compared to something like Xenoblade is bliss for me and also the stories and how the Final Fantasy characters are relatable and the Disney characters make sense in their worlds and, most of all, how brilliantly Square Enix combine their stories and write the script. I came late to both franchises and I don't think that any of them are overrated.

@NEStalgia "I have to say the FFXIII remaster is GORGEOUS on X. It looks like a brand new 2018 game".

Nice to hear you say that because I just bought the three of them, I was going to wait until I beat these games I am playing but I didn't resist the Black Friday deal. Last night I started 358/2 on DS so it seems that I am resolute that I play every single Kingdom Hearts game (in their definitive form). Playing a 3D DS game today is not great but the developer really designed clever controls. The other DS game is shorter, I can do this.

@Yosheel Shame Diablo: Immortal isn't available on XBox yet....

@BlueOcean yeah, FF just sticks in your head. Even if you don't like the game, you can't forget it. And Uematsu soundtracks are amazing. Especially back when other games really didn't have deep soundtracks it stood out twice as much. Now there's a lot of excellent composers in gaming, but back then, it was peerless in that kind of memorable scoring.

KH is interesting in that it's technically part of the FF sphere, yet is different. So it feels familiar yet unique. Plus it's of course an ARPG, where Xenoblade is a full on heavy RPG like FF but with ATB tweaked into a more "real time" system (Of course the Monolith guys were the ones responsible for a lot of FFVI, FFVII, and FFVIII, so there's a lot of crossover between SC and FF thinking. And Nomura, the director of XIII trilogy and KH3 is the designer of the world of Torna.)

There's a certain magic to Square stuff. It's memorable and timeless. Though the story writing goes too far off the boards and gets too pretentious. The Xehanort arc personifies that. When you get to DQVII you'll see how masterful Enix used to be at this. The thing is written as a novel. The script overflows an entire bookshelf at their HQ. It's a whole library volume, all printed text in the game. It's amazing (they never did that again )

Haha, yeah, I'm envious of you sticking with KH actually. I intended to do that before III comes out but it doesn't look like that's happening But you're definitely going to be pleased with how XIII trilogy looks. XIII itself...has its issues (gameplay is excellent, just slow to wind up. But the on-rails part gets old. Play base XIII not expecting an FF RPG, but enjoying the overall world and the well designed battles. So far I can say XIII-2 feels much more FF already though.)

I'm annoyed I just payed twice as much 3 days ago, though

@JLPick Well, I don't know what you consider to be a large price tag, but around 45 bucks is the average price for it in any (web)store, so you'd have to take that into account.

Here it is on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Kinect-Adapter-Xbox-One-Windows/dp/B07...
You could also check out the cheaper option also mentioned on the page, unless of course you're a stickler for original peripherals only.

According to this article, the ever-rising prices for these peripherals is due to Microsoft not only canceling Kinect 2.0 itself, but also the adapter, so because it's not manufactured anymore, it's slowly becoming more rare.

The article also mentions some games you might want to look into. Seeing as you have kids, I would most certainly also check out Kinectimals, Kinect Rush: A Disney-Pixar Adventure, Kinect Adventures, Kinect Star Wars, Kinect Disneyland Adventures, Kinect Joyride, The Gunstringer and Wreckateer.

And perhaps you yourself might also like Fable: The Journey.

I do have to confess that I haven't got the slightest idea how many of these titles are backward compatible, so you'd also have to check that before you buy any of them, obviously. Unless of course, you still have an Xbox 360 lying around as well...

If I were you, I'd just look up some YouTube trailers or preferably gameplay vids of these games, and see which ones you or your kids might like. Most kids do seem to like Kinectimals and the Disney games, so these might definitely be titles to consider.

Oh, and if you're either pretty tech-savvy or feeling particularly brave (or if you know someone that could help you with that), you can also modify the Kinect sensor yourself, so it can be connected to the Xbox One without the need for an extra adapter.

Here's an article that links to a tutorial on how to do that:

@NEStalgia I know, I wasn't expecting the deal so soon. It's interesting that people have different favourite Final Fantasy games. I didn't finish VII on PC but what I played I loved and will play the full game next year on Xbox One. FFX touched me so I can't say anything negative about it except perhaps optional fights that I gave up and that ridiculous Chocobo race that I never beat but I beat the other mini-games that didn't have awful controls. I played FFIV and DQIV around the same time (on DS) and I liked DQIV quite much and more than FFIV, so DQVII must be wonderful.

About FFX being linear, I hated Xenoblade Chronicles' massive flat maps with a lot of backtracking (I only beat the game because of the great story) so if I have to choose I'd choose FFX's linearity but I admit that it could be more open like other FF games (that I haven't played yet).

I don't think that FFXIII will disappoint me after all the things I have heard about it so better not to expect more than a linear experience. Good to hear that FFXIII-2 fixed that. It's funny that although some Square Enix ex-workers worked on Xenoblade Chronicles and The Last Story they are so different games. It's also funny that I liked Pandora's Tower much more than Skyward Sword and The Last Story. The Last Story is not bad but it is a bit flat in my opinion and Skyward Sword is just so disappointing with the small repeated areas, repeated bosses and forgettable music (except one or two pieces). The only fun thing I can remember about that game was rolling bombs under obstacles with the Wii Remote Plus.

@BlueOcean A sale 3 days after launch is kind of cruel to the eager first buyers. Serves me right I guess, I should consider it the "Deluxe edition" with "3 day early access"

Yeah DQVII (unless you hate reading tons and tons (and tons) of text on a 3DS screen is just a pure masterpiece. It may not be the deepest story ever told, but the characterization of all the people in the world make it so alive. It's sort of a bunch of separate short stories that all fit into one whole, as your party is dropped onto different islands each trapped in their own dimension, reliving separate past events.

XCX was more or less an MMO as a single player game with a central hub and litany of quests. It reminds me of Sword Art Online (which ironically, is not an online game....it's the name of the anime it came from where the characters are inside an MMO.)

Yeah, the guys that founded Monolith were all ex-square. Xenoblade is really a spiritual successor of Xenosaga, a Square game, and when they wanted to continue that series, Square told them, basically, no, their role is churning out endless FF. So they left, and started Monolith with Bandai. But then Square kept hiring Monolith to work on FF (back before they were Nintendo.) The Monolith guys are also a lot of the guys behind Chrono Trigger. That's why everyone was so excited for Xenoblade, because it was the continuation of work by a lot of the folks behind classic FF and CT, while the actual FF teams went in the more linear FFX direction. "Borrowing" Nomura to work on XC2 & Torna is pretty amazing though. The former FF and current active KH producer taking time to actually work at Monolith as a character and world designer as a favor to Takahashi took some serious string pulling. He does build some magical worlds though. (He designed the Torna organization, and I believe the world of Torna, at least in terms of their design templates.)

I liked Skyward Sword for what it is. The areas were too small, but the puzzles were some of the best to date which made up for it in some ways.

@Ryu_Niiyama Maybe not EVERY car, but most of them! The Ferrarris, McLarens, Lambos, Porches etc would eat half of it at least. I mean even those max at like 2-3M a piece. The Bimmers barely make a dent in that sum! We'd have to exclude the true exotic prototype supercars though...those are probably close to priceless as engineering proofs.

NEStalgia

Banjo-

@NEStalgia Sorry, I mean Xenoblade Chronicles, I haven't played XCX. I edited that. I don't know if I'll ever want to play XCX...

At least you used the "3 days early access"!

EDIT: Has anybody played Sonic Forces? Is it that bad? Worth £17.50 or $€20? At least Digital Foundry says it runs great on X at 60 fps and higher resolution...

@DarthNocturnal And the next four cars in line would be the weirder and more rare models. Would probably include some of the older three-wheelers as well, such as the 1950's Messerschmidt.

'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'

@BlueOcean At $27, it's still cheaper early access than AC: Odyssey and Just Cause 4!

Sonic Forces....hmmm....how big a Sonic fan are you? If it's Banjo levels of hype, then "maybe". If you keep posters of various Sonic Deviantart fandoms around your bedroom, then "definitely", if you just remember old Sonic games and wish for the good old days, I'd like to point out that The Witcher 3 is also on sale......

NEStalgia

DarkRula

@BlueOcean I'd say Forces is worth a run through at that price. It's not bad [except for Classic Sonic levels and the weird physics] but you could certainly do better in terms of Sonic games on the system.

DarkRula

@NEStalgia @Darkrula I have The Witcher 3 GOTY Edition!

Nothing beats Banjo I think, I even pre-ordered a $429.99 Banjo-Kazooie statue. No, I am not rich, this is the first and last time I do this.

I love Sonic, Sonic CD, Sonic 2, Sonic 3&Knuckles, Sonic Generations, Sonic Mania. I like Sonic Advance and Rush too. I was disappointed by all the 3D Sonic games except Sonic Generations which is awesome because it has the addictive 3D Sonic gameplay/speed but it's much better than any other. I couldn't beat some of them because of the camera but there's something addictive about Sonic in 3D.

EDIT: You have also supported Square Enix in this difficult year. Everybody buy Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III.

@DarthNocturnal Well, the UNSC isn't the Pentagon....I'm sure they can manage cheaper.

@BlueOcean Whoa, that has got to be some statue!! I thought my Skyrim dragon statue and Sonic Mania Sonic on-Genesis statue was overdoing it a bit

Yeah, classic Sonic, and Generations (and Mania) are fantastic. Forces is...modern 3D Sonic. It's actually not bad, it just suffers from that "generic Sonic" problem Sega has these days. It's better than Boom

Hah, heck I even bought XV Mobile Port on Switch.....it was $18...I couldn't say no to playing around in XV redone with "proper FF graphics"
