@Dezzy
Yeah, looks great and happy that I can get raytracing on a £249 console, amazing value.
Got my shipping email for Series S so looking forward to playing on Tuesday

@Magonigal

Mine was apparently dispatched on Friday, so might arrive tomorrow!

It's been almost a year since Gears Tactics was announced for consoles at the Game Awards and now it's available.

How is old @ThanosReXXX doing actually? Haven't seen him around in a while.

Old ThanosReXXX is doing just fine, but thanks for wondering/asking. Had some rather nasty personal stuff and issues to take care off, so I needed the time off, to get my head back on straight and stuff, but I'm good now. And back, more or less...

Not diving into that backlog of comments, though: when I just came back in, I started on page 575.
Yup, even for me, rummaging through 15 pages of old comments is a bit too much of a good thing...

Dibs on his Dreamcast collection!

Srsly though I've noticed his absence and he hasn't posted on the farewell thread so it wasn't a planned absense. Probably the new nasty office hours killed gaming for him, he'd mentioned something about chatting less.

And with that lukewarm joke about a still rather touchy and pride-reducing topic, any and all chances of a certain grumpy hermit to get anywhere even remotely near my Dreamcast collection, have instantly evaporated...

Imao this forum thread shouldn't exist on nintendo life

Can not think of signature

@ThanosReXXX That's ok....only 2 days until my XSX arrives (sadly, not looking like release day delivery....oh well!)

@redpanda0310 NL has a PS and XB fan thread. Push Square has Nintendo and XB fan threads, and PureXB has a PS and Nintendo fan thread......there's a pattern here.....

@NEStalgia Yeah, probably for the better. If your backlog is anything like mine, you'll be more than busy with your own collection already...

@NEStalgia Don't forget each company following each other on Twitter and the fact that the GoW director literally owns like 2 Switches and an Xbox One lol

My console is scheduled to be delivered in about 6 hours time! So hyped.

Only gutted that there's not really anything next-gen to play from day 1. The best I'll be able to do is Forza Horizon 4 and Gears 5 playing in 60fps. (which is certainly more than any of my current consoles/PC could handle).

It's too much of a wait. It's expected to be here soon, but I want to get stuff downloaded onto it right now. I suppose I've got the day to be playing once stuff has downloaded. Just the anticipation of knowing something's coming, I guess.

I've been told my Series S is coming 'by the end of the day' and I'm not signing up with UPS and agreeing to a legal waiver to find out when that is
So, who will be the first to get theirs...?

Woohoo!!!! Looks like it might have been me unless everyone is too busy playing to post. The box is actually pretty heavy for such a small size. Have some other stuff to do but might post a bit later on

Mine has arrived and the first update is currently under way. I'll definitely get to some gaming today.

@graysoncharles
Hope you get it soon!
Well, first impression is the Series S looks very nice and compact. I've not been an Xbox person since the original and 360 so got used to the PS4 controller and liked how it felt although have also got a wired Xbox 360 controller for PC and like that. First thought was that the back of the handles and the triggers felt quite 'rough' but after using it for a while i don't notice so much and it will be handy for grip when the hands get sweaty. I'm not quite sure yet about the thumbsticks as they feel quite narrow and have a more prominent ridge than i'm used to with my other controllers so my thumbs don't seem to rest as naturally so might take me a while to get used to it. Setup was very easy with the phone app and didn't take too long to get going after updating. The interface is taking a while to get used to as I did like the simplicity of the PS4. Downloading some games now and especially want to see Ori And The Will of The Wisps because its actually running at 4k60 so the Series S can do it. Also trying Gears Tactics and some other smaller games for now off Game Pass Ultimate. This is why I wanted an Xbox because I've instantly got over a hundred games to play as soon as i've bought the console and not had to spend over a hundred pounds more just to play something. One thing I wished it did was easily turn off into a Rest Mode like the PS4 as I have to turn on the Instant On power to carry on downloading then turn on Energy Saving power when i'm not downloading anything. I'll post some more when i've played some stuff

Magonigal

Dezzy

It's so small!!! I'm liking my Series S a lot.

Downloaded Forza Horizon 4, Gears 5 and Ori Will of Wisps so far. Those seem like the most next-gen games available day 1, even if none of them actually are.

I really wish Cyberpunk was still coming out in a week though. Playing that at 60fps (presumably) would really make it feel like the next-gen had started.

Octane

@Dezzy It's kinda funny reading your first impression, because I've just had to upgrade my TV cabinet to make room for the PS5 lol!

Octane

ThanosReXXX

@Dezzy There's also the fps Bright Memory Infinite, that at least looks and feels a bit more next gen, provided that shooters are something that you're interested in:

Magonigal

@ThanosReXXX
That's the full game coming next year. The one out now is more like a quick demo and apparently it isn't all that great, more like a poorly ported pc game

Magonigal

ThanosReXXX

@Magonigal Yeah, I know it's just a demo/beta version, but at least it look and feels the (next gen) part, which was more the point than it actually being a great game or not.

But on that note: I've also seen plenty of positive user reviews/comments on PC, that mention that even regardless of its niggles, it's still fun to play, so I guess it all comes down to personal taste/preference.

I never blindly trust professional reviews anyway. I own plenty of games on multiple platforms that scored pretty low according to professional media, and I still enjoyed these games regardless.
