Ive updated the concept art of what a fully realized monochromia could look like, and it looks even better:

It lacks some infill detail in the big dark red areas, some background objects and some variation in the tiles but thats about it

I've toned down the red a bit, how does it look?

@Snatcher no problem! I agree, the red looks a lot nicer and doesn’t hurt the eyes!

I don’t know exactly what you mean by “is this a new stage”, if you’re referring to the green image, that’s an entirely different game unrelated to this one I’m making, I just figured id mention I’m putting the tileset in the concept art of what a fully-realized monochromia could look like to good use!

Okay, i have finally decided that i am gonna make Monochromia into a commercial game with better visuals and exploration elements, after im done with V2 of the OG version, im gonna finish another small game i wont name right now and then ill plan it out completely (marketing, worlds, story, world layout, progression, blah blah blah).
The concept art is also no longer concept art

Reminds me a bit of VVVVVV meets Monuments of Mars (the latter being a very early Apogee game, the makers of the Duke Nukem series).

Also, I’m curious. Does the black outline of the character bother you at all? Does it look a bit out of place?

Also, in the image below i experimented with using a dark red outline instead, how does that look?

Just discovered the existence of this very obscure thing called "Lighting" and am slowly but surely making my image look better

... i just gotta make the lighting texture less rough lol

i do notice a bit of lag in the scene though now, i can tell by the emitting particles, so i gotta make sure to fix that
