@Tsurii @CanisWolfred Don't forget the pseudo-zombie games. COD BLOPS 4 and the 3 expansion, Dishonored/2 is kinda-zombies. Metro. Fallout has zombie/mutant things. TLoU/2. Resident Evil. Of course TwD Telltale series.

I mean the whole industry has been zombies zombies zombies zombies zombies for years and years. Remember when dragons and space marines were cliche? We've jumped a new shark. As someone who hates everything zombies it's been kind of oppressive. I don't do horror, but I mean at least there was Vampyr to break up the zombie thing with a vampire thing. Mummies haven't been done to death. Vampires are more interesting. Ghosts? I mean I won't touch any of it, but the zombies thing is seriously overdone.

It take back the ghosts thing. Usually when the entertainment industry does ghosts they just make them into invisible zombies.

@Ralizah Yeah gen 7 was really really dull in almost every way. Nintendo was doing the kids and grandparents thing. PSXBox was doing the "hey we've got really sucky editions of PC games!" thing. This gen is great but if you like both Western and Japanese games it's also kind of overload. Far too much stuff coming out all at once that is appealing. Plus the revenge of the past: great classics coming back in HD.

BTW speaking of Western games I remember you going on about how fun FC4 was (which is totally shocking given it's you... ) Have you tried 5? Impressions? I started it a little, but I was curious of your take on it since you enjoyed 4, hate western games, and I haven't tried 4 yet

@CanisWolfred I can't believe Days Gone is still a thing. I mean they showed that for years now at E3....it looked bland. They keep pretending it's the next Uncharted. I thought it came out 2 years ago....

@Cobalt Man, Spyro just looks so amazing. Like Crash Trilogy was a great revival and all, but Spyro is just so much more of an ambitious game. Too bad I probably won't get to play it until this summer when it inevitable releases on Switch. I'm getting PS4 Black Friday (finally) but I'm definitely not falling for the double dipping trap they're setting.

A bunch of PSVR games are really cheap right now, most of them only €9.99. I'm tempted to buy them. The problem is, I don't have a VR set lol. It's going for around €300 with the camera. I'd like to wait for a Black Friday deal, but those games will be gone by then. Decisions, decisions...

@redd214 @Octane I have absolutely no Sony nostalgia so I need a list for this one. I do wonder if it will take a dS1 controller though. (I know the controllers that come with aren't DS1).

redd214

@Ryu_Niiyama well it has just regular usb ports on the front so I'm sure just about any controller will be able to used (some, like the ds1 would of course need an adapter). Perhaps not out of the box but based on the nes/snes classic I think this thing will be hacked and home brewed in a matter of days after releasing.

redd214

Ryu_Niiyama

@redd214 hmm didnt notice that the front ports were usb...that's disappointing.

@Ryu_Niiyama an adapter costs 10 bucks if you want an authentic experience and being in this thread I assume you have at least one dual shock 4 that could theoretically be used as well. Doesn't seem that bad. Also of note for whatever reason it doesn't come with an ac adapter. Not the end of the world for me as I probably have 50 in my house but should definitely be known

redd214

Octane

@redd214 It comes with a USB cable, just like the NES and SNES Classic. HDMI and USB go into your TV and you're good to go. No need for external power supply.

Octane

redd214

@Octane yes I'm aware of that it comes with a USB cable. Doesn't come with the ac adapter (power brick) like the snes classic however. Use the USB on my TV for chromecast so and I'm sure others already use them already as well.

redd214

Octane

@redd214 Well, in that case, can't you just buy a USB hub if you don't want to switch them all the time? Sure, it's another device you need to buy, but chances are your wall plugs are all in use too. I've got more power strips and extension cords than I wish I needed..!

Octane

redd214

@Octane like I said in my post it wouldn't be a problem for me but it may for others, just sharing the info, thanks.

On another note for my US folks, target will be doing their annual buy 2 get 1 free all next week. Hopefully it's as exploitable as it has been in the past. I remember getting 6 ps4 launch games for under $200 years back!

*excludes red dead 2 and some nine do games, also works with board games

@redd214 never said it was the end of the world. just disappointing. I made an observation. No adapter required (I don't even know if I am going to buy the console as is).

@Octane Remember when were were told daisy chaining power strips and running cords all over was a bad thing we shouldn't do. LOL. Kind of impossible to function in the electronics age without at least 30 outlets on every one wall outlet. Especially not with generations of consoles, hard drives, video switches, displays, chargers.....

@NEStalgia Trust me, every time I plug in a new device and turn it on, it feels like I'm playing Russian roulette.

@Tsurii Wait so the lights aren't supposed to go out every time I flush the toilet?

RCDs must be a Europe thing. I've never heard of them, and googling it I just turn up a bunch of UK sites. Of course here in the US we don't run 220v to anything but an oven, stove, or water heater.

Soul Calibur VI (I went to BB to get a charger for my surface pro but ended up buying games...and no charger...sigh. Good job with the budget there Ryu...) I'm worried about the input lag but its SC so I kinda don't care. I don't try to play SC high level anyway. (I'm a decent Mitsu but its my casual franchise)

@Tsurii Yeah everything is 110 here except for a few major appliance lines (dryers, ovens, etc.) You guys have that crazy voltage that is horrifying in a residential setting in every socket! I've been zapped at least once by the full 110....it can kill you, still, but it kind of depends how much - my contact was brief while unplugging something from an extension cord and I happened to contact both prongs. My arm buzzed for an hour or two but that was about it (obviously just sticking a fork in the socket, you won't last too long....)

We ended up with 110 because it's the older system. Our first power plants were Edison's DC plants, and 110 lit his light bulbs. When transmission distance became a problem and we switched to AC the idea was 110 was backward compatible with the existing wiring and bulbs so it was the logical way to go. Of course it would be nice if we could have stuck with DC forever....it was actually ahead of its time for the electronics age, and presented no shock risk. Except we'd need a power plant on every street corner.

NEStalgia

@Ryu_Niiyama What happened to the old charger? (plugs ears and doesn't want to hear.)

So. You finally got SCVI! It's worth it. You won't touch Surface for a while....trust me
