*How important are they when considering buying a new Game?

*Do you keep them or sell them on?

*Do you still keep them even after selling/trading said Games they were from?

I missed out on a few pre-order bonuses from a few Switch Games and have been and am now getting them off E-Bay.

Once I get them, they go into a box but they will be displayed once a room has been redecorated.

I'm not bothered about the vast majority of pre-order bonuses, etc, @BlueGBAMicro .... I return any bonuses when I usually trade the game in after playing! I've only kept a couple of key-rings & a couple of postcard sized art works, since I don't have a lot of space to spread posters around

Ya, 95% of preorder bonuses are either useless tat or in-game bonuses I don't care about.

But there are exceptions. Back when Fire Emblem Awakening released on 3DS, there was an artbook preorder bonus from Gamestop- one of the best I've ever gotten. Even turned the middle fold out into framed art on my wall. What a banger.

I also like the steelbooks that are sometimes given as preorder bonuses- Monster Hunter Rise had one exclusively from Europe, Persona 5 Strikers and LEGO Star Wars got one from BestBuy, Pokemon games usually get one from at least one retailer... I think most of the good stuff was given back in the day. The Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon art cell, for example. More and more they're turning to digital preorder bonuses. Which I do care about for Monster Hunter, but not for anything else.

Also for Pokémon, they usually have cool mini figures as preorder bonuses from Amazon UK. Unfortunately, I live in the US so those are hard to get. I did manage to procure the Sword/Shield figure of Scorebunny, Frankie and the grass type all huddled together, but missed out on the other games' figures.

Most of this stuff just gets tossed in a box, but if it's in that 5% of good stuff I display it.

@JaxonH I've just got that Galar Starter figure/statue and I'm waiting on the Shield Steelbook and a Keychain for the Galar Starters.
Once they arrive, I'll have everything to do with 🗡🛡

For some reason, I'm now into Walk-Through Guides...

I appreciate an art book, a soundtrack CD, a t-shirt. If the box containing it all too is nice then that's a bonus, but it also becomes a bit of a burden, as I feel compelled to protect it from any signs of use to maintain that materialistic feeling of niceness, and its value.

Anything digital or plastic has to be pretty amazing to be of any interest. And I just don't really understand how steelbooks have caught on as much as they have, they should at least be big enough to fit the standard case inside, or alternatively fit inside the standard case, having two cases for one cartridge is nonsensical to my mind. Hasn't stopped me seeking out the occasional steelbook edition of some games, but I really don't know why I do.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

@BlueGBAMicro They are not important to me but if they are for my absolute favorite franchise I must have them (if I have the money ofc!)

For example the ridiculously expensive Castlevania Classic Collection and Castlevania Requiem collection from LRG are must haves for me

I told myself "I would never spend so much money on crap" and when I saw those trinkets (goodies) I just lost it

I toss all the pre-order nick nacks in a box. I might see them again someday. There are just so many bonus items. Hard to collect them all before they end up only on eBay.

I've only gotten 2 in my lifetime but they were pretty good. A steelbook for both Pokemon Shield and Legends Arceus along with a surprise Arceus figure for PLA as well, all of which I still have today. Hopefully Scarlet/Violet comes with a steelbook as well so I can add to the collection.

I never did preorder or whatever it called.
I bought the games once they were already available.

I HAVE BEEN CHANGED.... FOR GOOD. 💚💗

I miss the cool limited editions we got before amiibo were a thing.
Ganondorf with WWHD and Blue Shell with Mario Kart 8. I feel like after amiibo came out they just bundled their games with amiibo instead of cool figures.

I pre-order these editions from time to time. I'd say maybe 5-10% of my games are limited editions, including the ones in the past. They're not that many.

*How important are they when considering buying a new Game?

- Only important if I really like the game and it comes with an art book; art books in special editions have always been my priority.

*Do you keep them or sell them on?

- No, I never sell them. So far I've managed to keep every special edition I bought.

*Do you still keep them even after selling/trading said Games they were from?

- I've never kept any special edition contents once the base game is sold, and if I ever sell them, I would sell both the game and the contents in one go. I get kinda OC about this. I think I prefer keeping the base game then selling the contents, than keeping the contents and selling the base game.
