so i got a new pc. this is my first good pc with a proper graphics card.
quad core proccesor at 3,8GHz
8GB RAM
GeForce GTX 750 with 2GB
can you recommend any cool games to me? i have never been a big pc gamer but with this new baby i wanna play all the games i have been missing throughout the years. on my old pc i mostly played age of empires 2, rollercoaster tycoon 2, minecraft and gta san andreas.
what are some must have PC games from the last years?
No one else is gonna ask what he is specifically is looking for? Seriously? Okay. What genres are you interested in? Does it need to be a graphical powerhouse so you can flex your PC's fancy specs? And do you care if the game can be played well enough on a current gen console?
Ya, good luck finding a $399 PC that will run GTA5 at those specs.
Your lack of logic is SERIOUSLY embarrassing
Your logic is worse it is basically impossible to spend more on a PC over the lifetime of that console. Get a desktop not a laptop or ipad (Presuming most people need some way of accessing the internet). $399 worth of GPU will get you that.

Freedom of the press is for those who happen to own one.
@HollywoodHogan i spent 450€ on my new PC and it fits the recommended system requirements for GTA 5. but i dont have the game yet so i cant tell how good it actually looks on my pc.
@CanisWolfred i play a lot of different genres. but i dislike fighting games, JRPGs and adventure games.
the last 10 years or so i have only played on nintendo systems (Wii, DSi, 3DS) so i missed out on a LOT of stuff. i think every pc game from the last years will look mindblowing for me currently playing borderlands on the highest settings and it looks reallly nice except for the tearing i think (is that normal in borderlands?). i sure wanna play some games with uber graphics like crysis but it is not a must for a game. i think i will also get a 360 controller for pc. so dont recommend games that can only be properly played with keyboard and mouse.
If you have screen tearing, and if you dont like it, you should activate Vsync which pretty much tries to "stop" frames from going higher than your monitor refresh rate (which causes the tearing)...
Be noted that if your FPS doesnt reach 60 o +, it will be essentially cut down to 30 (half the refresh rate), in that regard its much better to activate "Adaptive Vsync" on the Nvidia panel, which does the same as a normal Vsync BUT only if the frame is higher than 60+ (Or whatever HZ your monitor has)

If a PS3 was upgradable like a PC, you would have a point, but it is not. Therefore, when one is comparing buying a PS4 or similarly powered PC, the only fair way to do so is by directly comparing the price of a new PS4 to the cost of buying a new PC which can run the game. You can't say "Don't buy a PS4 for 399, just buy a $200 GPU (or whatever) for your PC instead" because the GPU alone can't run the game, and the person deciding on what to buy may not even own a PC in the first place. There are hundreds of dollars worth of other components needed to build the computer.
@Faruko where can i find those settings? ...nevermind i found it. thanks!
is metal gear solid 5 coming out on PC? or just MGS online?
A) Vsync is avalaible on every game in the settings department
B) Adaptive Vsync is on the "Nvidia Control Panel", you should have it installed, if not do it from Nvidia site
C) It is coming to PC !
@Faruko
A) there is no option for vsync in borderlands. i have searched for it multiple times.
B) yeah i have clicked on adaptive vsync in the settings of nvidia and there is no tearing in borderlands anymore
C) YES YES YES !!! i am so hyped for that game !!
Now let's see how it looks on a $400 PC (don't forget the cost of Windows and all the other things required to build a complete PC from scratch) and we'll have a fair comparison.
Challenge accepted. According to this benchmark test, you can run GTAV at 2560x1600 while maintaining ~48 fps on the Radeon R9 280x with "Very High Settings", a good step up from consoles. Lower the resolution to 1080p and you'll see similar, or better, performance on the Radeon R9 280, a slightly toned down version of the 280x. You can build a machine with a 280 inside of it, as seen here and on PcPartPicker for roughly $430.
My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

You forgot to add the cost of an OS (Windows), keyboard, mouse and a controller. Maybe even a monitor and speakers too, unless you plan on hooking it up to a television.
When you buy a 399 PS4 you get everything needed, right there in the box, to play a game on your tv.
Now try handing someone only the computer tower you designed and say 'here, play GTAV with this'. Not possible, without adding extra costs.
Why would you need a controller ? a Mouse+Keyboard combo costs about $10 dollars and you can find Windows 8.1 for less than $50 OR use Windows 10 for free, which is going pretty well on my PC
If you use Win10 and the $10 M/K, thats $440, considering you pretty much need PS+ on the PS4, thats $450-460 (Oh, and the GTA 5 PC version its actually cheaper than the PS4/XB1)

Proof you can't have a reasonable debate with a PC gamer. They are incapable of understanding that someone would rather play a 3rd person console action game with a controller than with a mouse and keyboard.
Also lol @ a mouse and keyboard that cost a combined $10 being of good quality. You will tell me that's how much one costs, while it's very likely the ones that YOU personally own cost $50-100+.
That's the other thing I find about PC gamers. When the higher costs are brought up, they will explain how a 'powerful' PC can be built for $350, while their own personal gaming PC likely cost them $600-800 because they want top of the line stuff.

Just grab steam for linux (a free OS) OR opt into the windows 10 beta for free if you must have windows. The monitor is roughly the same as the expense of a TV, though the speakers for PC are usually cheaper for equivalents on console. I run a $20 mouse/keyboard combo. After purchasing the first game on a steam seasonal sale for $15 3 months after release instead of the console priced $60 (or used $55 after release), my setup would pay for itself, controllers included. A year-old game is $5-$10 typically on PC for me, as long as I snipe deals on Amazon/impulse/gog/steam/direct2drive/origin/uplay/humble bundles. I kinda like the 360 controller and love a joystick for flight simulators, so my college money-saving rig added those and started being cheaper after the 3rd game. Throw in all the good FTP titles you have on PC and free online access, and you should be saving a ton of money gaming on PC compared to a console at launch, with a heck of a lot more exclusives to boot. Additionally, you don't have to purchase a PC for work (with google docs or open office, the pc can double as your primary workstation at no extra cost, letting you divert a second expensive purchase to your gaming habits). I also ditched cable and a TV for streaming options online for news stations, the weirdness that is youtube, and even TV shows like the Colbert Report at the time.
That said, while I did save money by upgrading an existing work-setup for gaming while in college, my current PC setup is more expensive for the hardware than console gaming, as it's designed for local multiplayer and multi-boxing.
I like Nintendo excusives, and their console has managed to still appeal to me due to the ease of access to local multiplayer and different hardware options. I do play local co-op games with controllers on PC, though (Left 4 Dead, Rayman Legends, Trine, etc) and sometimes virtualize older titles and run a virtual LAN with VMWare to make games not designed to have local multiplayer have it (DDO, WoW, Jedi Outcast). My pc ruined the appeal of the xbox/playstation consoles for me completely.

See ? it works both ways lol. Here you are being completely desilusional because it can be the other way around, what if someone buys a PS4 and wants to use the M/K combo ?
My PC cost more than $400, yes it does, but thats besides the point, the point here is called "options". Untill 2-3 months ago i was playing with some terrible Mouse and Keyboard, not untill i found a DeathAdder 2013 for cheap... my keyboard still cost about $10 dollars
See? You try to explain how cheap it is to get a gaming PC, yet you yourself wouldn't personally want to own the one (or parts) you describe. Your computer and it's components cost a hell of a lot more than a PS4, so don't bother comparing them.
At least be honest when you try to debate.
I remember when I downloaded GTA Vice City on my laptop like 5-6 years ago, and found that it only officially supported a mouse and keyboard. When I went to a message board to see if I could use a controller, I was met with a bunch of arrogant PC Master Race-types who were incapable of understanding why someone would want to play a game on a computer using a controller, even though said game was previously only playable with a controller for the past decade.
Now let's see how it looks on a $400 PC (don't forget the cost of Windows and all the other things required to build a complete PC from scratch) and we'll have a fair comparison.
BTW, I'm not against PC gaming at all. I have a respectable PC for it. I just laugh every time I see someone compare the graphics quality from a $400 appliance against a PC whose GPU alone is most likely more than the cost of the entire console.
That is not a sensible comparison to make the only sensible one is total cost over x years. People who only play say one sports game / GTA / CoD are about the only people who might not be up over the lifetime of the console for a better product.

I've never met a PC gamer, myself included, that's ok with using a $10 keyboard/mouse combo. Are you honestly telling me you're ok with that and that a $10 keyboard/mouse is a fair comparison against an XB1 or PS4 controller?
I use a mouse + keyboard and play on my PC a lot. In some ways it can be better.
Games are "cheaper" because you can't rent or sell them. If you never do that, then yeah, it'd be a cheaper deal, especially if you buy a lot of games. That doesn't apply to everyone, though, or even the majority of gamers.
And yes, parts can cost less than buying something all at once, but you could be spending a lot over a period of time once it gets to the point of needing to upgrade, especially if you ever need to upgrade major parts like the CPU or the freakin motherboard (I had to trash a 7 year old PC because everything needed to be upgraded, yet a PS3 that came out before it could've produced better graphics, cost $100 less, and would've only needed a hard drive upgrade at some point. And the damn thing would probably still be functional now, where as my old PC fell apart in early 2014). So really, for the most part, it's not cheaper than consoles, especially if graphical performance is so important to you. It is a different experience, however - one where you get more out of it the more you put in.
Been using my original gamecube adapter for the wii u to play some PC games, along with the x360 controller emulator.
I must say, it works nice for the most part.
Most of the games I play dont use or use the D pad for unnecesary things, and since the gamecube is missing exactly 4 buttons from an x360 controller, I remap them onto the D pad.
I downloaded Geometry Wars 3 Dimensions and is pretty awesome.
Nice arcade shooter with a cool twist, but damn, its really difficult for the most part. Some of the scores are insane.
Im looking fowards rpelaying Skyrim with the DLC with a gamecube controller, as I first played it with the keboard and mouse, and it was asdf.
New Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, a remake of Super Mario Bros 1 and The Lost Levels for NSMBDS.
new 3DS: 0276-2211-7514
Linux is free, as is SteamOS. While not optimal, you don't need to spend $100 on Windows. And, odds are you have an older computer sitting around, and unless you pirated the OS on it, you can transfer the old OS onto the new one.
If you're counting the controller, that's on you. I for one prefer a Mouse/Keyboard combo, and so it's not necessary for me to buy a controller. If you want one, you have to deal with the extra cost of wanting an alternative form of input. You have me on Keyboard/Mouse though. If you don't already have any, you'll likely be looking at ~$20 more, bringing the cost of everything up to $450.
Maybe even a monitor and speakers too, unless you plan on hooking it up to a television.
When you buy a 399 PS4 you get everything needed, right there in the box, to play a game on your tv.
I think you fail to see the hypocrisy of this. You try and count monitor/speakers for computer gaming, but don't factor in the cost of a TV for your console. If we're going to add monitors and TVs, ~$100 for a good monitor and ~$150 for a good TV. Makes the total cost of a PC $550 and the total cost of a console $550. Equal pricing.
Now try handing someone only the computer tower you designed and say 'here, play GTAV with this'. Not possible, without adding extra costs.
Same can be said for consoles. If the person you're giving electronics to doesn't have a TV, there's added cost. Plus, it's ~$50 a year to play online (with a few added freebie games). If you do that for 5 years, the price of your console becomes $800, where games are given away for free constantly on PC (just look at Origin) and you don't have to worry about your subscription expiring and losing all your games. If you want a lot of games, just go to Humble Bundle. For $1 I get 5 AAA games. If I do that once a year for five years, that brings my total cost up to $555,$245 cheaper than the PS4.
