lol at the surprise that Raccoon City was a dud. No one was surprised by this? Especially when it was made by Slant Six.
I wasn't so much surprised but hopeful. Maybe when it drops in price I'll pick it up with my friends and have fun with it. From what I have seen it does look interesting though.
QUEEN OF SASS
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
My only concern is the AI. According to reviews and people on GFaqs, it's not good at all. I hate terrible AI...
I thought you liked Resident Evil 5
Oh my god no. NO! I probably said it was good and all (because I like to give credit where credit is due), but the run 'n gun gameplay and AI makes it oh-so awful. The storyline was the best part but it never felt like a Resident Evil game. More like a... TPS.
I don't know if you've ever played it. If you haven't beware. It's almost as bad as RE0
Just for you. "I'm just a musical prostitute, my dear." - Freddie Mercury
But yeah. I've had the... pleasure... of playing the least scary game ever made. I can deal with crap AI if the ideas and atmosphere of a game are good. RE 5 failed.
I think you missed my rant a few weeks ago. Okay not RE0, how about... uh, which one was bad? Veronica? No. RE3? No. Those rail shooting ones I guess. Anyway.
Terrible controls and bad AI are the worst thing about games sometimes. I can live with them though if everything else is great. Resident Evil 5 didn't really touch base with any aspect. More like Resident Shooter 5...

With any other genre, I would agree with you. With horror games, though, bad controls almost work in the favour of the game - in the sense that the developer could, potentially, make deliberately bad controls to increase the tension when you're surrounded by hellspawn.
I'm convinced the Silent Hills games worked so well because the controls (for the first - and best - few games) were just terrible. Forbidden Siren - terrible controls, creepy game. Fatal Frame 2 - most horrific game ever, but clunky controls. Even a game like AMY, I kinda enjoyed, because it had the atmosphere, and the very real possibility that the controls were going to cause lots of deaths.
Totally agree. Resident Evil's and Silent Hill's awkward controls made the atmosphere appear in your hands. Or in English, it makes you feel helpless at times. Though, Resident Evil 5 isn't a horror game so the bad AI isn't welcomed. (As it isn't at anytime though some games are bearable.)
Horror games aren't meant to have great controls IMO. It's just tradition.
This is my issue with user reviews. The majority of the ones who write them are the ones who just love to either overly praise or hate the games. Case in point: Ninja Gaiden III: of the 15 user reviews, 5 of them give a review score of 0/10 and 3 of them give a 10/10. I personally don't waste my time with them.

@Magi Agreed! In regards to Ninja Gaiden III though. It's one of the very few where I can almost understand the zeros, and that's because it's a slap in the face to the hardcore gamers that the series' has always built itself upon. But, even here, I have no use for the over-dramatic.
I haven't got around to playing any of the PS3 Ninja Gaiden games yet. Which is kinda crazy since I was such a HUGE fan of the Ninja Gaiden games growing up. I was so late in joining the PS3 party that there is just so MANY games I have yet to play. Next on my list is Uncharted 3 I hope to get it soonish.
