@Adam - to sign out, hit "Triangle" over your Account Settings option at the top of the PSN collumn. I consider the Triangle button the PS3's "right-click" of sorts--I tend to default to pressing triangle while selecting options when I can't figure something out, and it tends to work. Sign Off is an option in the following pop-up menu on the right.

During the Mag beta from Qore I had no lag whatsoever when I was actually able to join a game.

Thanks, Swerd! I haven't used the PS3 in a long while except for the few minutes I spent playing Shooter, so I've forgotten basic stuff, and the disappearing friends list just disoriented me.

I'll have to try MAG tomorrow. It's probably just pulling a Fat Princess on us while they work out the kinks.

@Adam..... sounds like your having the same problems I am and its internet problems, lagg causing really stupid stuff. Mediacom has one more shot with this technician out Friday and it doesnt work, I will have Direct Tv by next weekend.

@Strofan..... Demon Souls just arived today finally. Im at the dead end of Dead Space and had to turn it off, so Im goin to finish it up before I start Demon Souls, that is if I can pull myself away from my new severe addiction to MW2. 48 hours online and counting Demon Souls is more of a fighting/hack and slasher RPG, not a full on RPG. Its also BRUTALLY HARD, just be warned before you buy it, if you dont like that kinda thing. I stick to all my RPG games on DS, playing Chrono Trigger at the moment and loving it.

@paper.... Nice Shot the other night. I was like dang freaking guy just screwed my 15 kill streak I got goin on and then was like..... oh, I know that guy lol.

You can play without internet access. That is primarily how I played it, in fact, though I did eventually try out online mode. Online is neat, but I think the game excels most at single-player since you get this feeling of being alone and surrounded by creatures that could pop out from anywhere. I never got to try the mode where you stalk people, and I never was attacked by an online player either, but I bet that was cool.

Good, because most of the time the ps3 port are inferior to the 360 one.

First off, I never said the Japanese voice track was the ONLY issue caused by the mere existance of the Xbox 360 version of FFXIII; it's just the easiest to explain, or for that matter, prove. The way I hear it (and this is getting a bit deep into info you have to be LOOKING for, or have a serious FF nut friend who tells you), it impacted the development of the game itself. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they had to pull back on the PS3's power to get the same game running on 360.

Also, I said I was mad on PRINCIPLE. You ARE familiar with that concept, yes? Keep in mind: Everyone I've talked to who's heard the English voice cast says it SUCKS. I'd play in English regardless because I have a problem with games still in Japanese, but I know people who wouldn't, and I have every right to be indignant on their behalf.

And yes, Adam, Xbox 360 has multi-disc games. The current record holder is Lost Oddysey, which has FOUR. That's what they get for using DVD.

the underpowered one is the PS3, not the Xbox 360 lol

And anyway, I think that not including the Japanese voices is more for technical reasons than anything else... remember the PS3's drive and internal components are quite slow, so most games repeat data on multiple parts of the disc so that they can be found faster, effectively reducing load times of most PS3 games to somewhat normal levels, by removing unnecesary stuff, they have more space to do this... They don't have to do this on the Xbox 360, but they have less disc space available there so the Japanese voices won't be there either.

Yea, I've heard of principle, thanks. But if any slight change can be exaggerated by principle, then that would justify being angry because a single word in a game was removed or anything else insignificant. So I don't know that principle alone makes much sense to me.

As for the development thing, as you said, it's hard to prove. It would seem out of my way to get upset about something I don't know is true. Still, your first post implied English voices, which you don't care about, was your only reason since it was the only reason listed and you didn't say, "for instance" or "this is one of the reasons" or whatever to indicate otherwise, and the wording of the last couple sentences seemed to point to that as the reason. But if you really believe it has delayed the progress or hindered the development of the game, that's quite reasonable to be disappointed about! We just did not understand your post the way you intended, is all.

Aight guys, enough with the 360 vs PS3 stuff please. It never goes anywhere and people just end up getting pissed off and threads dying. Truth to the matter is. Regardless of of wich system the game is on, the differences are more than likely so small that nobody that even gives a s*** would notice in the first place .

@Strofan..... I actually just got Iced out of work today because people were starting to get hurt (Mississippi Coast that just doesnt happen)! So Im off to finish Dead Space and on to Demon Souls. As Adam said before the online part is optional, but it supposively is really cool to use the online elements as you can team up and fight bosses etc. No online shouldn't be a factor as not to buy from my understanding.

@Strofan..... well I just finished up Dead Space (flippin awesome ending), and dropped a few hours into Demon Souls and all I can say is go out and buy it! Its phenominal. The online element is so subtle but great. Basically little glowing messages on floor you click on and pops up a message from another user that gives you hints. Sounds crazy, but with a game so hard and so much hidden it helps ALOT. You can also leave messages and they get Recommended wich is pretty cool as well cause enough Recs and your message will appear in Lots of peoples games. Bloodstains to help watch people die can be very usefull too. Controls are excellent but going to be very hard to master wich is great, and story seems really cool so far. Atlus has a major winner with this game, and the online community wont be going anywhere for a long time.

Should I get demon's souls or darksiders. I am leaning toward darksiders as I don't like too hard games that take too long in places and I also don't like games that I will never platinum besides maybe killzone 2. It has to be really amazing for me to buy it over darksiders since I wanted it for a long time.

@DarkG: Ahem. This is the PS3 fan thread. Please do not spread your 360 propaganda here.

@Adam: Yeah, I'm sadly pretty good at not making myself clear. Basically, the principle is: Squenix says the PS3 version will not be gimped IN ANY WAY. Then, they gimp it to keep it close to the 360 version. Regardless of how major or minor the differences are, the fact remains that they made themselves liars.

@Strofan: They're re-releasing the Limited Edition? I bought it close to release, before they ran out. TOTALLY worth the $10, since it's the ONLY way to get the official player's guide, which is INVALUABLE, IMO.

Well, this is a Nintendo site, and people are free to criticize Nintendo as long as it is done intelligently and politely. I think as long as it isn't rude, mindless bashing it should be fine, but that's just me. I don't understand a word he's saying, so I have no idea if he knows what he's talking about or not.

@Strofan: Well, there was an incident with the original guide where the ink on the vast MAJORITY of copies came off on customer's hands without provocation. The outcry from this resulted in a re-printing and exchange system. It's POSSIBLE that the re-printing produced too many copies and they decided to re-release the Limited Edition as a result. It's also possible that there were some copies lost in a warehouse somewhere, or even Target is simply mistaken. I don't know. But I DO know that if you DO get a chance to buy the Limited Edition, you most DEFINITELY should.

@Adam: Since we've had that debate on other threads already, bringing it into this, our decidedly pro-PS3 thread, is completely unnecessary. I would question the difference between "mindless bashing" and "utterly misinformed bull" as well...they're sadly quite similar. I expect the reason you don't understand what he's saying is because it makes no sense, which is because it isn't true. Well, that's not ENTIRELY fair. SOME developers do, in fact, put redundant data on Blu-Ray to reduce loading times. Bethesda did that with the PS3 version of Oblivion, for example. The idea that the PS3 is weaker than the 360, though...that's simply BS that needs not be spread around here starting stupid arguments.

My Backloggery Updated sporadically. Got my important online ID's on there, anyway. :P

DarkG

but the PS3 is indeed underpowered, with the details given before, but that's not what's important...

I was simply trying to give a logical, technical explanation for Square-Enix's decision to not put the Japanese vocies on the international release of FFXIII (and as far as I'm aware, there are no English voices in the Japanese version, more proof to the point), and given the weakness that the PS3 has bandwidth and speed-wise, it is a logical one if they are aiming for a similar experience on both consoles, otherwise they could end up with the 360 version having reduced load times (and even shorter when installed to the HDD) versus long loading times for the PS3 version (something that most people wouldn't like, me included, I can't stand games that take forever to load).

I don't know why some people get so hurt about some facts, or why they don't like them... I simply used those facts for my theory... whether you like them or not, they won't change, even if you say they are BS as much as you want.

On a non-FF related note, I now have only $2.10 left on my PSN account, anything good I can get from the PSN store for that (no DLC for LBP please, I refuse to pay for sackboy skins)

@DarkG: I don't see any facts given, just you saying the xbox 360 is better and the ps3 is underpowered with long load times. I would also like to say I'd like to see one less locked thread.

y2josh

DarkG

sins? or skins? lol I wrote skins, I'm sure lol

@y2josh I posted those facts a good while ago, and they are publicly available kinda everywhere (PS3's underpowered GPU and memory shortcomings and all that)

Even if you disagree with the guy, discussion is entirely civil at the moment. I'm pretty sure if I said the Wii is better (which I do think, and I'm sure I'm not alone here) that no one would flip out on me. Maybe he's misinformed about how the Bluray is used to avoid otherwise slow load times. I wouldn't know, but a calm, polite, misinformed argument is a farcry from the typical "lol ps3 sux an ur mom 2" kind of bickering that gets threads locked, and it was spam that convinced me to request locking the previous PS3 thread.

EDIT: Whoa, I could have sworn you said "Sackboy's sins." I had no idea what it meant, but it was hilarious. You should change it, haha. But yea, I wouldn't pay for skins either. That's ridiculous. The MGS expansion for LBP is good though, assuming there are any good levels made with the Paintinator by now.
