I've recently finished the main story. My hr cap is gone and I'm at 38 or so.

Great game, and the investigations and upgrade paths make it a true monster Hunter. No way I'm able to win out against the heavy ones yet.

I noticed there was a hr100 minimum cap quest recently. Has anyone here actually reached that and beaten that?

@Tsurii heh, I skipped the 4 series entirely because I had no 3ds and time for it. That makes this one much more fun for me I guess.

I'm going to main different weapons now too. The charge blade had me intrigued. I used to be all hammer, switch axe and long sword, getting charge blade and insect glaive in there will be a challenge:)

Anyway, reminder to fight all of the tempered monsters at least once. Once you fight five of a given difficulty level you'll unlock its specialized mantle. I still hadn't bothered and I've like 280 hours on my save file XD. Going by the drop tables it's also worthwhile to fight harder tier non-elder dragons if you're going for decorations and not streamstones.

I really hope the next one gets a simple pause option...

Haru17

Yeah, pause is kind of a bummer. I usually just fast travel to a camp and let it idle offline since time limits are so lax.

Oh, people are speculating that the event quest "A Simple Task" isn't about gathering shroomcaps, but is in fact the first quest Deviljho will show up in. It starts on the 9th at midnight UTC, here's the schedule: http://www.monsterhunterworld.com/eventquest/MHW_EventQuest_E...

There's a Monster Hunter World presentation on March 14th 8 pm Japan time.

For leak speak, we can probably expect Alatreon, Lunastra, and Oroshi Kirin as well as Deviljho. I doubt they'd show an expansion or new area so soon, and those monsters all fit into existing zones pretty well. I wonder if Oroshi and Deviljho won't be able to be fought in the Rotten Vale too!

Apparently an update is planned for the gathering hall. We might see something on it in the spring event.

Splat

Yeah, no one uses the gathering hall. It's basically a waste of space as of now. I hope they do tweak it.

(At 300 hours) I can't stop learning new things about this game. I just found out that you can excite the glowing blue objects in Odogaron's nest with barrel bombs or monster attacks. They're Dalamadur meteors! They'll burn anything that stands in their fire for rapid tick damage. They even have their own unique idle and walking animation, different from the ones for heat, miasma, Vaal Hazak's effluvium, and acid water.

So Deviljho and a bunch of weapon buffs are live next week on the 22nd. Then there's going to be an in-game event from April 6th to the 20th. All event quests will be up for the duration and Bnahabra armor seems to be the special holiday armor. I need my prism suit once more!

I knew the new game was extra realistic, but I didn't expect Monster Hunter: Modern Warfare.

I really want to get the Platinum for this game since I love it so much but those crown trophies are so frustrating.

Just wait for the Rotten Vale tour event quest on the 30th. Then from April 4th to the 20th all of the tour event quest will be back — they have a greatly increased chance to spawn giant or tine monsters, so farm them for those achievements.

I'm crafting and running gunlances, bows, and hunting horns now. Gonna see which of the other weapons I can get a feel for. Farming a lot of LR quests for Rath scales and Legiana and Tobi claws.

Tempered Deviljho is a beast... Good times.

After that, the creature designers look at the landscape where the new animal will dwell. Monster Hunter World takes place on an isolated island with a huge range of environments to explore, from humid swamps to arid wastelands. There’s a back-and-forth process, with creature and level designers working in tandem, and the two evolving alongside each other. A change in a creature’s movement could inspire a change in the landscape, or vice versa.

“The next step is to go into each area of the map and look at the terrain to see how a player or monster may use that area to their advantage,” says Fujioka. “For example, a monster designer will speak with a level designer and say, ‘We are looking for this amount of verticality so we can have a monster behave and interact as intended there,’ and they will go in and make those adjustments to the area.” It’s only after those details have been sorted out that the team starts working on the actual visual concepts for the creatures.

I've been reading through some of the interviews I missed while gem farming and I came across my favorite part about 5th gen. The author goes on to discuss how the monsters feel like they belong in their respective environments, which I feel like I've been talking about forever.

On a tangentially related note, consider that;

1st gen brought giant scale dragon battles and using monsters as traversable terrain.
3rd gen introduced Uragaan rolling on flat ground.
4th gen added more unlevel ground and added Dalamadur, the new monster could act as terrain.
5th gen introduced mechanics for slopes an Uragaan relative that made use of the rising and falling skeleton of that Dalamadur to roll.

We're one degree of separation away from an elder dragon and an Uragaan kin teaming up for a yo-yo combo attack.

End game is getting pretty boring compared to other MH games. The tempered elder sniffing tracks is getting real old real fast. Even with that limited event quest to get some if that was permanent that would be even tedious. To the point should be unnecessary should be like guild quests where you get a good one and can keep it forever.

I'd grind those tempers folks before its over. You get them fast but its still super boring. Also while your doing it do bounties that get armor spheres that you can collect while your doing it to kill two birds with one stone.

'Permanent investigations' are just guild quests in non-crap levels, which makes the endgame all lvl 140 GQ rooms again — loads more repetitive in my book. Anyway, if you're bored just take a break until the next monster comes out this month.

But anyway, I noticed that there are way more than just one Dalamadur tail in the Vale. There's like a dozen of them. Did something happen there or is it just a case of limited assets for elder dragon corpses? There are also Rathian, Diablos, and Legiana corpses you can find, but I think that's it for large monsters.
