So by the time the Vita comes out, the 3DS will already have a 1-Year Library. :X
With the games that the 3DS will have by then I can't believe you would use that as an argument.
Zelda Ocarina 3D, Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Starfox 3D, Kid Icarus: Uprising, Resident Evil Revelations, Bit Trip Saga, Cave Story 3D, Luigi's Mansion 2, Paper Mario, Animal Crossing, Pokemon Rumble Blast, Sonic Generations, Dr. Lautrec, and Tetris say the 3DS will see drastic improvement by the time Vita hits. Plus any great VC titles or 3DS downloads that come out plus a bunch of less notable 3DS releases that many are still excited for. The 3DS will have a very solid library going by the time Vita is out worldwide.
You can tell me the release date for all of those games? Go for it.
@bboy 2970 Oh, what about all my DSi games that I couldn't transfer to my 3DS when I traded up to a 3DS and didn't need my DSi any longer? All those games were simply lost like I never bought them and Nintendo will NOT let you redownload them to you 3DS without owning both systems, and the same thing when I bought my black Wii. I've lost OVER $300 in total to Nintendo's wonderful online stores!
I'm not even going to comment back to some of the earlier post above! Every system has its ups and downs and how exactly does a system win? Sales numbers? If that is the case then, Zumba Fitness is the best game in the entire world right now as it's been destroying the sales charts. Funny thing is, the game is garbage and it's not even an actual game, but instead a fitness game to help you workout.
Oh poor you. What about my brother who has 30+ PSP games ( and bought them on release day), and is getting the Vita? That's 30 multiplied by 40 which is $1200? Right? Thanks Sony for taking ALL that money away from my family.
I still feel bad for you though.

The Vita is not in trouble as far as I'm concerned. I'll parrot what others have said: I think the Vita not releasing around Christmas time is a misstep, but I'll still buy one nonetheless. Based on what I've seen for release games so far, it should be a release day purchase for me.
Zelda Ocarina 3D, Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Starfox 3D, Kid Icarus: Uprising, Resident Evil Revelations, Bit Trip Saga, Cave Story 3D, Luigi's Mansion 2, Paper Mario, Animal Crossing, Pokemon Rumble Blast, Sonic Generations, Dr. Lautrec, and Tetris say the 3DS will see drastic improvement by the time Vita hits. Not a single one of those games is a MUST BUY for me. That's not to say, I won't play any of them. In fact, I'll probably pick up Mario Kart, Starfox, Zelda, and Super Mario in the used bin (or a BOGO sale at Toys R Us, etc.). Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars is a much better game than those that you have listed, but that's just my personal preference/opinion.
I have quite a bit of money invested in my PSP and UMD collection but I'll make some of that back when/if I sell it and the loss won't lessen my enjoyment of the Vita at all.
The only thing I'd like to tell Sony: HURRY UP ALREADY!

No, I cannot give you exact release dates of a lot of those games. However, its safe to say that the majority of them will be out before or very very near to Vita launch which goes back to prove the initial point: 3DS will have a strong library by the Vita launch.
My god, do you not play video games at all?! How is not a single one of those a must-buy?! Almost all of them are must-buys for me.
Different gaming preferences I guess. ::shrugs::
If it makes you feel any better, Twilight Princess was one of the reasons I purchased my Wii at the midnight release! I think I've just "outgrown" (not an age crack) Nintendo's core franchises. They just don't hold the same appeal to me that they used too.
@Kid_Chrono Don't feel bad for me! I knew I was losing the games with the systems and I was using that to make a point: Nintendo is just as faulty with gamers loosing games to digital downloads, but in Sony's defense, do you really want to pay more money, add weight and bulk to the Vita just so you can play UMD's? I don't!
@Hyperstar96 Nintendo has and is relying on sequel after sequel to the same franchises for years and some people get tired of them. It's not just Nintendo either: Uncharted 3, Resistance 3, Killzone 3, Mass Effect 3, Gears of War 3, Halo 3 (then Reach is 4, with 5 in the works), Modern Warfare 3, Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3DS (8 I believe in the series), etc., people just grow tired of the repetition and Nintendo has some of the longest running franchises. It isn't hard to believe at all to me.

More like the 3DS will have ports and margainally updated Nintendo franchises by the Vita's launch. I don't think it'll have anything to worry about. Besides, I don't think the two handhelds are really competing against eachother. I honestly don't think most of the people attracted to the Vita really care about the games on the 3DS, and vice-versa.

Amen brother. I think there are just different demographics at work amongst the three camps. The first two are the large 3DS and Vita camps where one or the other is purchased and then the smaller third camp in which both are purchased. Maybe it'll be as cut-and-dry as a 45%/45%/10% division.

Sounds about right. I would be in the Vita camp if I didn't get a 3DS.

Whatever you think, that is a list of really good games, some of them system sellers and that isn't even every notable release. I'm not necessarily arguing Vita is in trouble but I am saying 3DS will have a respectable library by the time it arrives. Regardless of what you think of Nintendo's franchises (which evolve A LOT more than people like you give them credit for) you can't deny they are still great games and will all go a long way toward improving 3DS's library.
still more changes in the unoriginal 3DS sequels than the unoriginal Vita sequels. Seriously, I've tried to ask how LBP or Uncharted is any way better or worth getting compared to the PS3 versions, and no one has been able to give worthwhile examples other than "LOLZ HANDHELD NOW".
Notable differences actually exist with the Mario Kart game. The trailer was basically "yep here's Mario Kart...and now new stuff!" And complaining about Nintendo sequels in general is pretty laughable because if ANYONE has proven they can keep a series fresh, it's Nintendo.

None of which will effect the Vita in the slightest.

Everyone gets what they paid for. You want an affordable system with your classic franchises? 3DS. You want a powerful device that promises cutting edge everything? Vita. I personally purchased the 3DS because none of the upcoming Vita games interested me.
yes the major handheld video game system finally having lots of games won't affect the other major handheld video game system.
Also, PS3 costing 600 dollars at launch didn't effect 360 or Wii sales despite those sales going up compared to last gen and Sony's going down.
Yes, because those two things are even remotely comparable. Sheesh. They're two different demographics, so why would the 3DS' games affect the Vita's performance?
