Thank you for answering! Seems like I’ll be buying the previous Xenoblade games
But since I’ll only have time to play 1 game before Xenoblade 3 which one would be perfect to play before 3? The DE or xenoblade 2? Sorry for the many questions

@Kaioken If you're short on time Xenoblade DE is a shorter game by a few hours (at least it was for me) so I'd recommend that one. It has a nice casual mode if you just want to cruise through the story as well.

@VoidofLight Ok I might get Torna, or watch Chuggaaconroys let's plays on the previous 2.

@Kaioken I'd say 1, if you want a game that has more simplistic combat, and don't want to deal with Gacha mechanics. 2's combat is poorly explained, so you need to usually look up a guide for it in order to get a better tutorial than what the game offers.

VoidofLight

@Kermit1 I wouldn't get Torna first, since it's a prequel to 2 that spoils the rest of the game.

@VoidofLight Ok, I'll save my money and watch Chuggaaconroys let's plays instead sense their the only series's that I have not watched yet

@Matt_Barber In that case, I'll probably steer clear of this thread just a bit longer. My hope is to get to Torna within the next month or two since XC2 is still relatively fresh on my mind. Last time I checked in with this topic, I was maybe halfway through.

You'd probably finish the games in less times than it takes to watch Chuggaaconroys videos.

They're certainly fun though, and his commentary adds a lot of insight into the more opaque game mechanics.

@Matt_Barber Yes, I bet I would finish them at a good pace, Right now I've got to decide what's my summer game (Money does not grow on trees). And yes Chuggaa's video commentary is great that's why I like him.

Fun Fact: So the trailer theme actually has both Engage the Enemy and Counterattack in it. If this song ends up in the actual game, I feel like it'll be this game's version of engage the enemy.

Also, another thing I'd like to add. I'm extremely happy that this game is an actual sequel to 1 and 2, instead of it's own thing. It pays homage to both games, and so far from what it seems, there's a ton of quotes that can be connected back to the first two games. Like, the guy in my pfp, the one Ouroboros that has metalface vibes, actually mentions the passage of fate from Xenoblade 1.

@Kaioken Out of the two it's Xenoblade DE easily. It's the first game in the series and it still holds up incredibly well. I'd say it's better than 2 honestly. The combat is more simple than 2, it's easy to pick up and play, and there's no contrived gacha mechanics as @VoidofLight says.

Plus, the addition of a casual mode if you just wanna breeze through some boss fights, I remember when I played the game on Wii out of the thirty-or-so bosses I got stuck on three or four and had to grind a little.

@Kermit1 Even on a limited budget I'd recommend the same, get Xenoblade: Definitive Edition. It's such a good game, and IMO should be experienced outside of the new "obligation to play it to see how it connects to 3".

@Vortexeo Thanks! I panicked when all the new stuff released, so setting it was pretty quick. Pfp's are meant to be expressions of ourselves and this was a good opportunity.

Oml dude I was amazed when I found out about this! I'm convinced this soundtrack is gonna be another banger.

Unrelated but I just found out that the new Digimon game is also releasing on the exact same day as this lol. Summer is REALLY packed

@TheJGG The main theme for this game is really good. I don't know if I like it more than 1's main theme or not, but I still think it's good.

@CactusMan I'm definitely on board for more Mor Strain; that was one of my favorite areas in 2. Needless to say I'm looking forward to it!

So I was watching a combat analysis video and they said it looks like using arts will charge up other arts alongside auto attacks. Of course, this is just speculation but if this is true combat is going to be a lot faster!

@Vortexeo The combat seems weird. I watched an analysis that was like an hour and 40 minutes long, and there's a lot of similarities to Xenoblade 2, but quite a bit of stuff from the first game's battle system as well. Like, now there's both diamond shaped arts and circle shaped arts, with no understanding how the two differentiate.

@VoidofLight Was that the Luxin video? His analysis videos are so long so I can never watch them entirely 😂. Normally Enel is my go-to for Xeno-related content.

I am quite curious to find out what the different shaped arts mean. I did find out the meter shown when party members fuse together is an overheat type of thing.
