and talking about Pyra being a prostitute.. someone talking about the differences in translation said a part in English Pyra says "ill help out in any way i can" and the Japanese version supposedly has Asurda asking "you don't mean to sell your body?" Or something like that.. i don't understand Japanese so i can't verify, but i believe it to be true unless proven otherwise so in your face with that one guy.
Just finished it after 116 hours. I think I enjoyed it even more than 1 and X, story really picks up mid way. Environments are not as good as X but everything else felt better to me.
Whoever designed the map functionality should be shot though.
Um, the ones we've been pointing out to you all along?
Is dressing revealingly a political statement?
No, dressing revealingly is not a political statement. Nowhere in my posts did I say that women can't choose to wear whatever they want. Perhaps you should remember that the women we're talking about here are not real women with agency, but fantasy characters in a work of fiction - a work of fiction conceived, directed and mostly designed by men. How they choose to dress the women IS a statement of gender politics, as are the roles they assign to those women.
Heck, part of the main story plot makes a point of chastising Tora for having a maid outfit his father made for his robot in his closet, and Tora himself reacts ashamed and stressed as if knowing it's problematic.
Wait, I thought you said none of these things were problematic? I thought you said it was all in our interpretation? I'm really confused now.
I never said you shouldn't voice your opinions, I've simply been arguing against them.
No, you've been deflecting, derailing, strawmanning, ignoring the point, calling me narrowminded, accusing me of being out of touch with reality and generally acting like nothing I said had an ounce of validity.
This will likely be my final words on this topic, as I'd prefer this thread returns to talking about the actual game's contents and not slide ever more into the gender politics quagmire.
We ARE talking about the game's contents. That's what character designs and plot points are. What makes you think this is any less valid a discussion than the several dozen posts about whether or not the resolution drops in handheld mode are within the acceptable limits? Why is it more important to talk about framerates and resolution than how the game treats its female characters? And why do you think you get to make that call?

To the other guys: again, I'm not here to attack the game. I've said repeatedly and will say again, this game looks pretty great and is on my wishlist. I'm also not out to have the game censored or banned. The things I mentioned here are things that are problematic to me. That doesn't mean they should be suppressed in any way. It just means it makes the game a bit less appealing to me. And I think these things are at least as worthy of discussion as things like framerate and control schemes.
That said, I'm out of here. It's not worth the stress.
@Galenmereth The interface is just horrendous, and the mini map basically shows nothing of value. It's the only big issue I have with the game really, a lot of the menus just seem to intentionally waste time.
@Inertiacreep
Ok, thanks for spoilers didn’t go that far to see all the kinky stuff. But looking forward to play further for that scenes alone
I didn’t want to be aggressive with my reply and it wasn’t all on to you but on people in general these days.. my English is bad and I find difficult to express myself so maybe I sound harsh sometimes..
Another oversight are the Ardanian soldiers and the Phantasms in particular for their constant repetition of using the same two lines over and over again to ad nauseam.
I was in stitches when this happened the first time, it's very annoying but pretty hard not to laugh. Especially with SPINNINGGGG over the top.
I agree it's almost entirely just QoL stuff that should have been dealt with, and hopefully will. The blade thing wouldn't be so bad if you didn't have to sit through the same animation every time, again just seems intentionally slow.
I have about a hundred little complaints about the game, but, to its credit, the core experience is fantastic enough that it overpowers almost all of them. The occasionally really terrible handheld resolution is a pretty big hang-up, though. It'd probably be my second favorite game on the Switch if they'd patch the resolution issues.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
Personally i wanted this game to come out so bad i can forgive all the little things we could nit pick about it quality and design wise.. overall the quality i feel is amazing docked and handheld mode is just whatever to me.. the map sucks but oh well, I'm over it.
Probably old information: Breaking 4 elemental seals in a chain attack leads to a devastating and flashy combo. I just annihilated ol' Rotbart with it.
I haven't been that invested in a JRPG's characters since I first played Tales of Symphonia in 2011 (Well, maybe Elena from Pandora's Tower, but that's not a traditional JRPG).
They really did fix my biggest complaint of the first game, in that the characters didn't seem to have much of a personality, and I wasn't all that invested in their struggles.
Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F
Regarding the little orbs that spin around the ZL/ZR prompt, I can't remember the game telling you that explicitly. It might have been simpler just to put a number in a bracket to denote the special attack's level.
Almost 50 hours and still confused about that spinning orbs. Thanks for the link btw @Knighty_IX.
I wish they release official manual for gold points on Nintendo Account. I know that half of the fun comes from discovering battle mechanics on your own as you play but still...
@Tsurii if you use the opposite element it will only take 2 attacks.. all other elements still crack and break it but you need 3 hits... the only thing idk is if you can target certain orbs. I'm assuming using the opposite element will always target the orb it's strong against regardless of if that orb is the 1st 2nd or 3rd.
Breaking an orb allows you to do another chain attack, and if you can manage to break 3 or 4 (the guy specified how many a few posts ago) then you do the super ultimate COOOOMMMBBBOOOOO BBRREEEAAKKKKEEEERRRR
I actually did break one orb once I guess because I was allowed to proceed in second round of Driver Combo. It’s so satisfying when I hear in English things like Driver Combo, Excellent, Great etc.. (playing with Japanese voices) it really lift up tensions in battles. Also reminds me of some shooters like “Monster kill”, “Triple Kill”, “Unstoppable” if you know what I mean..
Btw anyone getting Metroid vibes when bounding with cores? That music is from one of the Meteoid games, I swear..
Does anyone have tips on bonding with blades? I understand there are 3 tiers of crystal (common/rare/legendary), and that you can apply boosters, (which each character has an inate bonus for) but to what effect?
I haven't played much so far, and I've so far bonded with a few blades, but the ones I've gotten so far are nothing special. What effect do the boosters give? Can you get a unique blade with a rare crystal, as opposed to a common one?
Don't know how but my play time just shot up. I don't think I left it running unless it didn't record the sleep mode properly. Jumped up from like 20hrs to 50hrs.
Always feel a little off when the time recorded isn't my actual proper playtime.
It records while in sleep mode. It's technically still running. You'll want to hit HOME first before going into sleep mode to stop the in game timer.

@JaxonH really??? I don't think this is an elegant implementation... some times I just hit the power button and put the switch in the pouch when the train arrives to the station... now I need to worry about going to the home menú first??
@cambotero
It's one simple button press of a button you're gonna hit already for sleep mode. Wouldn't exactly categorize that as a "worry". And even then, only if you care about a play timer.
It's good practice for all games, not just this one. I always back out to the home menu first.
