Topic: Which game should I play next Thread

@Dusk if you end up playing Caligula Effect I’d like to hear your thoughts. Would it be the Switch Overdose version?

@JoeDiddley even though the games aren't tied together i might run with 9 since it's next in line for me( as i played 7). And wouldn't mind the cartoon (ie) art style. I do have X in my switch travel case just in case I change my mind 😂

@JoeDiddley Yeah, I game exclusively on the Switch nowadays. It's the console that got me back to gaming.

@NintendoByNature I can't recommend FFX enough, man. It's a JRPG masterpiece.

@NintendoByNature I’ve not played FFIX myself but it looks like one I’d really enjoy. I already had X in my backlog as I’d picked it up on sale a while back. It sounds like a really good choice as your next game.

I’d probably play IX next myself if my tightness didn’t make me begrudge paying full price when I know it’s regularly half price. I would if I REALLY wanted to, but my RPG backlog problem is bad enough that it’s good to have some restraint I guess.

I hope you enjoy the rest of ToM. I’ve not played any in the series yet. Would you recommend it?

@Dusk I hear it had a big overhaul from the Vita version so some impressions might be different depending on where you play it. It’s the Switch version I’ll get to one day.

@JoeDiddley Yup, I just bought it cause people said it's a knockoff Persona. I don't have any problems with knockoffs as long as they can sate my craving. I'm still debating whether I should pull my PS4 and buy Persona, but I just hate immobile gaming.

I'd suggest IX next in your FF games, @Dusk .... Aren't you going to try X-2? Or didn't you like that?

@Dusk I’m also handheld exclusive pretty much. I have a young family so I don’t get much tv time. Consequently I’ve beaten P3 (PSP) and P4 (Vita) but I’ve only got past the 1st palace on P5 (PS3 as I don’t have a PS4).

Especially with my 3DS I still have plenty of SMT games to play.

@JoeDiddley God, I love those games. Any RPGs with great social elements, really. Tale of Wuxia and Fire Emblem got me into that. I'm just busy with work, and I like doing stuff simultaneously (watching tv and playing, reading and playing, reading and watching tv), so the Switch basically was just an upgrade to freemium mobile games on my phone. XD

@BruceCM I thought FFX-2 was a given. Of course I played it and thoroughly loved it. Honestly I own the HD remasters on like 4 different systems XD

@JoeDiddley yea I finished trials last night. It was so good in my opinion. My favorite game of 2020 so far. It's really action oriented, more than anything. Final fantasy adventure was another good one in the series. Secret of mana fell short for me, at least. It was probably the AI getting stuck or not helping during battle. There's also an energy gauge for both ffa and secret of mana that has more powerful hits when it's filled up. Trials of mana does away with that which is nice.

I can't recommend trials enough. The characters (aside from Charlotte), are really great. The English voice overs are really cheesie but i enjoy it. It felt like you're playing an snes game with modern graphics and quality of life features. So if you're into 16bit jrpgs, you'll probably enjoy it.

Started up ff9. Figured it's best to see the final fantasy series' natural progression gameplay wise. As well as see how it grew from 9 to 10 as opposed from 10 to 9.

Cool, @NintendoByNature.... How far so far?

@BruceCM yea I like the setting and tone so far. 1 hour in and searching for the princess with Steiner? Only 2 battles though which I was hoping for a few more by now to get my feet wet. I'll prob shoot you some questions in the main thread shortly.

@BruceCM yea i figured. I just recalled 7 jumping right into action from the get go. I'm super excited to see what the rest is like though.

So the next game I'm playing I know is gonna be Tetris 99. I got the retail version just because, and its my excuse to get the online instead of directly paying for Nintendo's lackluster service tbh.

After that I'm not as sure. I wanna get a lot more indie games, there's so many I haven't played yet. Golf Story is the one that's the most long overdue to play (out of stuff that didn't exist before Switch's release at least) but I'll go for anything that...isn't another 2d platformer. Between Celeste and Sonic Mania, playing another 2d platformer right now would just be guaranteeing I like it less via comparison.

I also have Mario + Rabbids = X...com, I'll get to eventuallly...
