I am going to hold off to around Xmas until I get one, hopefully it'll come with a game also maybe some good bundles. I am not going to make the same mistake as I did with the Wii U (wait for games) all the games I am looking forwards too come out much later anyway apart from Zelda. As it is I don't mind paying to play online seeing as you get discounts, around four games a month which are a mix of AAA, indies which are new and other benefits. You also get to keep them games as long as you have the online service, Nintendo service on the other hand are NES/SNES games which you can play only for "ONE MONTH" and there online service is a app. Now depending on the price that does not look good at all, I am hoping thing's change or it's a lot cheaper than Sony's & Microsoft services.
Nothing in last night's reveal screams Day 1 purchase for me. I'll probably get a Switch once Super Mario Odyssey arrives!! That trailer was pretty bada**!!
Weirdest thing about the Switch is that the online features are done through a companion smartphone app. I imagine this is due to the form factor and them wanting to have as much of the RAM for the games as possible.
I have a question for the handheld-only gamers. What do you think of the Switch? Especially its price? With a 65 million install base, you'd think that it's easy to get this system going, but I fear that the price may turn a lot of people down.
@Octane Not handheld only gamer here, but I am not interested in the Switch as a Handheld system. I would be more interested in a Home Console with these controllers than a weird Frankenstein machine we currently are getting. The Switch has more identity issues than the Wii U does, but at least Nintendo's marketing has gotten better...
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
@Whitewatermoose Probably, I think a lot of people think the same. It all looks interesting, there are good points; no region locking, Zelda and Mario looks good. However, the price of the console, the accessories and games are on the expensive side, paid online services, 32GB internal memory (expected, but still means you need to buy expensive SD cards) 2.5-6 hours of battery life, let's be honest that means 2.5 hours for 90% of the time. It all felt like one step forward, two steps backward. I'll probably get the Switch eventually, but not right away (not that I can anyway, it's the NES Classic all over again). I'll wait until the holiday season and get it for Mario. Zelda is still a Wii U game too, so I'll only be missing out on Arms, but that's $50 and the content, while fun, looks a bit shallow for $50. And hopefully by then we know about more 2017 and 2018 games.
@Octane as a handheld it's awesome and powerful. It's too expensive though. It should have been released as a straight up handheld without all the bells and whistles.
I'm not a pure handheld gamer as I do very occasionally play my PS4, but I rarely ever do so. So I guess I'm basically a pure handheld gamer. I really like the Switch, since I'm usually always busy or tired and never really ever have the time nor energy to play on my home consoles. Which is why I like my phone and 3ds so much.
Since the Switch seems so simple and is a handheld I'm really looking forward to it. Not to mention it'll have BotW and I don't own a Wii U. So that's my view. For what it's worth.
I'm hoping the fact there's a Fire Emblem Warriors Direct next week that launch may be somewhat close to Switch launch. Hyrule Warriors was enough proof that Fire Emblem Warriors will likely be extremely useful in a large game drought period.
Treehouse sold me on 1,2 Switch. Was laughing the entire time, especially at the cow milking and eating contest minigames. Looks like a very fun party game and quite possibly the drinking game of the year.
Just secured my NS preorder! Still can't get that master edition of Zelda though.

@IceClimbers This. Dissing this game just for it's premise means you have no soul. It's not for me, and the potential price is a legitimate concern depending on content, but that doesn't mean it can't be fun.
I love it that when they showed off snipperclips we all hated it the first minute we saw it, followed up with this abundance of appreciation for this AMAZING ARTFORM CALLED SNIPPERCLIPS xD
@Spanjard Not just Snipperclips... Arms was immediately slammed before anyone even began to explain it, probably because it was not the Mario or Zelda they were expecting.
