@meleebrawler Yeah not sure how many minigames there are. It did seem like they were scrolling through a few of them during Treehouse, but that doesn't really tell us much.
People spend ridiculous amounts of money on electronics today.
Happy to say I've never spent more than $100 on a phone, of course that means that in the unlikely circumstances that I pay for Nintendo's online services, I won't have a phone capable of using the multiplayer apps.
Now that we know most major information about the Switch, it's time for you guys to head out to the stores, which they hold Nintendo Switch try out.
Alright, so the question that I'm going to ask: Will you be getting the Nintendo Switch? For me: Buying it? yes. Day one? unfortunately no. I'm more conservative now after the Wii U's small selection of software. But who knows: perhaps this month and the next will change my mind.
I'm only getting it because of Zelda. Nintendo knew what they were doing. They knew if they didn't have one big game at launch that people like me would have waited. Cuz as it stands Zelda is literally the only game until Mario Odyssey that I see myself getting day 1. If Mario Kart has more than just a battle mode, I may double dip for that as well.
I'm already getting a Nintendo Switch day one just for Zelda and Bomberman but... I'm feeling really depressed. This is giving me a Dreamcast vibe in that it's likely Nintendo's last console if they don't do something to increase the launch line up and keep a good flow of year 1 games.
Yes I'm aware of E3 but they need the system to sell day one, otherwise people will call it another Wii U fiasco. And that's already kinda happening.

Overall, the presentation was a little disappointing. There are two big reasons:
1. Price. The system is $300. IMHO it should have been $250 (especially if it's packing the Tegra Maxwell X1 processor, which it probably is).
On top of that, online multiplayer is paid, and will be presumably $40-$60 per year (about equivalent to PS Plus or Xbox Live, but without all the additional free games benefits).
On top of that, an additional controller will set you back a whopping $70 (for the Pro controller) or $80 (for another set of two Joy-Cons).
All of this on top of buying $60 games. This isn't even including a microSD card that you'll need to buy if you're planning to go digital.
2. Games
Considering Nintendo hasn't announced anything major since 2015 for the Wii U, I expected there to be a good number of games planned throughout this year. But in terms of major first-party games, all we have are Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, Arms, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (yes, there's also 1,2 Switch but it doesn't look like an in-depth experience). Two of the aforementioned games are ports of Wii U games.
Are there other first-party games for 2017? Nintendo might have more planned to show during E3, but IMHO they should have shown all first-party games coming out in 2017 during this presentation, and save E3 for 2018 and beyond. Where's Smash Bros.? Where are the rumored remastered versions of Xenoblade X and Bayonetta 1&2? Where is the rumored Pikmin 4? If the rumored games are true, they should have been presented. AND the launch lineup is pitiful, essentially featuring just Breath of the Wild, a game that could be bought on the Wii U instead. Not much justification for all the costs for the console, online multiplayer, and additional controllers.
So it seems, unfortunately, that Nintendo may stumble on price and games a bit with Switch, which is disappointing considering the two years they sacrificed Wii U game development. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if a 3DS-like scenario plays out, with the Switch receiving a price drop of at least $50 by holiday 2017 if sales aren't that much.
The system itself is excellent, and I'm sure the games that come out will be really good and much more than the Wii U ever had, but Nintendo didn't handle this presentation well at all (spending a lot of time on two games that are Wii-esque is not a good message to send to gamers).
People act like this is the confirmed 100% lineup of games we're getting in the first year lol. Do you all forget that E3 exists?
Also, when do we get details on the paid online subscription thing?
Did you forget E3 is in June? Did you forget the Switch releases in March?
I didn't, sweety. I'm just pointing out that they're not gonna reveal every single game available for the first year when they still need to have something to show at E3.
According to David Young, NOA's assistant manager of public relations, Miiverse and Streetpass will not be on Switch. “I can answer that we’re not going to be using Miiverse for Nintendo Switch." Streeptass isn't planned for Switch since it's not a dedicated portable like the 3DS. http://venturebeat.com/2017/01/13/nintendo-switch-wont-have-m...
Sounds like Miiverse is coming to an end.
Losing Miiverse is a real shame, it felt like it was just a short step away from perfecting it.
@skywake
I think we will get more at E3, though that thought scares me because that's what we kept saying to ourselves during the Wii U days...
@shaneoh
I'll be honest with you, I do most of my gaming on PC, and I am a big MMO gamer so I'm used to paying per month (I'm a WoW and FF:ARR player - both still use subscription, though WoW now has tokens).
I think the bottom line is that everyone, including me, needs to just wait for Nintendo to reveal what the online system is going to be. AND it's going to be free at first, so you have nothing to lose to take it for a spin.
My hunch is that you won't need it if that's not your thing. Honestly - what did you play online on your Wii U? I played Mario Kart 8. I never really got into Splatoon.
That was it.
So I see this hitting Splatoon players the hardest.
And who knows what Nintendo might change now that they're hearing initial feedback? For 10ish bucks a month, if I get a free SNES/NES game that (if they listen to us and change their tune) I get to KEEP, then yea, sign me up. If not, then meh - I can do without, but I'm not going to write off the entire console because of it (not saying you are - but others are, for sure).

To be fair E3 2013 had announcements such as Smash Bros, 3D World and Mario Kart 8. Every new game of that caliber announced for the Switch would be awesome.
The Joy Cons feel so small. Like I couldn't get my hand around it correctly, at least when it was sideways, I didn't try holding it like a Wii Remote. The Joycons and the system itself seems really small, like holding a tablet, which I also find uncomfortable. At this point I just wish The Switch was a Home Console and was the Wii 2.0, which is what I have kinda wanted. The next step in Motion Gaming. Right now it feels like a Frankenstein.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Okay sweetheart i thought you did for a second i was worried. And no console can last without games for months on end just to wait for announcements.
The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
