I don't have an OLED but I love my lite for when I travel. Just seems so easy to carry around (still wouldn't fit in a pocket but comparatively light). And honestly feels good to use.

@Novamii I also can't wait to see the new UI, cuz I have been seeing so many faked UIs for the supposed Switch 2 on a bunch of threads here and they all look very generic and off. I just want to see what the UI will actually look like! I wouldn't really care if they made it a bit minimalistic and simplistic like the Switch UI, but I think some people have been wanting some pizazz with the Switch UI since its been stuck with two themes for seven years now.

@Novamii Yeah, cuz the colors black and white alone are already basic lol. I wouldn't mind more themes for the Switch 2, I think that would be nice, but I would be fine if it didn't have any.

Given the system will have 12 GB of RAM, the OS might not have to be cut to nothing to fit in it's allotted portion. Still... I don't expect too much, I think the Switch's OS being snappy is a huge improvement over the lethargic Wii U and Wii menus.

They will mix things up and add basic grey.

Without question. I believe the Switch reserves ~700MB of it's 4GB for the OS. Which includes space for video capture, the eShop and such. The UI generally would be part of that. Wii U and 3DS didn't really have as much reserved which is why the navigation generally between basic OS functions was much slower. It wasn't already loaded

With 12GB RAM on Switch 2 they can afford to reserve more for the OS. I think there's a fairly good chance we'll see themes come back. Personally I couldn't care less about it but plenty of people do so, seems like something they should do

I have no big asks for the Switch 2 UI tbh - as far as I'm concerned, the Switch UI is pretty much perfect. The more time I spend playing games and the less time on the UI, the better.

That said, if they can pull of Xbox's Quick Resume on the Switch 2 I'd be quite happy. Not that I'm always switching games (nor are save points nearly as far apart as they have been in the past), but it's a neat little feature that I'd at least get some use out of.

Night Mode / more accessibility options would be a nice addition also.

I say I don't really care about themes, but let's be honest... I'll get every theme they put out lol

You know, between TTYD, Echoes of Wisdom and The Plucky Squire? I have no regrets picking up the OLED at the start of the year. I'm also glad that I, for whatever reason, never got around to finishing Luigi's Mansion 3 when it released. Because damn did it look good on the OLED. I should've picked it up far sooner than I did, I was way to optimistic about the Switch 2 timeline (and far too cheap to part with my money heh)

@rallydefault
Yeah, I've been fairly..... firm in my opposition to people who beg for themes on the Switch over the years. As I have a tendency to be. I'm very much a fan of the Switch UI being significantly snappier than the 3DS and Wii U were and the themes didn't add THAT much. But when I spun up my 3DS a couple of months ago and was greeted by my Shovel Knight theme? Yeah.... if they did it again I'm getting all of the themes aren't I.....

Guys, anybody ever see this?

In my Saved Data Cloud list, there's an entry that's literally just a gray icon and a question mark. If I go into it, it has no other information available, but it does let me download the data, but even then, I can't tell what the data actually was lol

In regards to UI I've always liked it - basic as it is it is fast and efficient.

Aside from the eShop I'd say that the biggest change that needs to be made is to the accounts system. These are communal devices (especially in the early years) but they don't function like that at all. I'd rather my kids don't see everything I've been playing (not that I've been playing any of those games...) and the sharing of games across multiple devices in the same family is - at best - a complete faff and - at worst - impossible.

I know what they'd like is for me (and those in my position) to just say "it's too much effort to handle so I'll just buy the same game digitally multiple times on each child's Switch" but realistically very few people are doing that with any regularity. If one digital game is locked to one Switch families are just dealing with it and picking up the device the game is on. It's taken us backwards - at least with a physical game you can swap the cartridge into the console you actually want to play on.

I really hope that Nintendo sorts this for Switch 2 - especially in the early days when there'll be lots of OG Switches finding their way down to younger children.

So I been catching up to on Nintendo Next-Gen console (Switch 2 rumors) and a few things got me excited that I don’t know how I didn’t think about it myself before.

One rumor is how one way or another we are going to play with Dual-Screens either like the DS and 3DS with an accessory or supposedly there going to be another screen like on the Dock, or like they said a ‘Reverse’ Wii U so all the idea they had for the Wii U could now be implemented better and more where you play your Main screen on the TV and a second Screen on the Handheld.

Another thing is how they are going to bring these games for DS, 3DS, Wii U even Gamecube (not Remastered or Deluxe). Is it going to be through Nintendo Switch Online? NSO might make sense but you won’t own it. Supposedly we are heading where everything in the future is going to be a subscription (plus Online?).

After years of bemoaning my falling behind in keeping track of how many physical Switch games I've bought, I've finally just about caught up with them all. There's still a few tucked away somewhere that I haven't accounted for, but I suspect I've breached the 550 mark. An absolutely absurd amount for a person of my means and circumstances, but there it is. And it's not over yet. Got about 8 more on order, and there's plenty more in the 2024-25 pipeline. Long live Switch! A dream fulfilled and then some.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

Really all they need is a faster UI, specifically the shop. Other than that keep it simple and just as a video sharing capability. If S2 does have 22 GB off ram it would be nice to have 11 available for game development.

Haruki_NLI

22GB of RAM? Odd number, and also....very excessive.

And if you want 11 of that to be for games, what the hell is the OS doing to take the rest?

I'm starting to think Nintendo never released Mario Galaxy 2 and Zelda Wind Waker HD on the Switch because Switch game purchases are going to carry over to Switch 2. And they're just trying to space these classic game releases over the course of two console generations.

(Or maybe I jinxed it, and these two games will release before Switch 2. Or I'm still wrong, and we'll never see these games on Switch.😆)
