@PikminMarioKirby I still highly doubt Z-A is coming to Switch 2. GF are notoriously late adopters of new hardware. I won't say there's no way it's a cross-gen release, but I doubt it.

@link3710 Yeah if Nintendo wants to show console power, then avoid having a Pokemon game near launch XD

I expect it to be backwards compatible but not cross-gen. Wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo WANTED this to be another low-quality game to emphasize the strength of the next console.

@PikminMarioKirby I think Legends Z-A will only get a trailer in an August Pokemon Presents if it's releasing in Early 2025. If it's later on in the year, I think they'll save next info for February Pokemon Presents. Maybe they have Switch content being a NSO drop, there's still some GB/GBC/GBA spinoffs not yet on NSO like the 2 Pinball games and Puzzle Challenge (Switch doesn't have a mic so N64's Hey You Pikachu wouldn't work).

@PikminMarioKirby To be fair, I've been replaying Legends Arceus and while it might not be a powerhouse in graphics, the art direction in that game make it quite pretty to just play (unlike ScVi). Another Legends game could end up being very nice looking... or not at all, who knows.

Anyways, I don't think it'll come out until November next year anyways, so I doubt it'll show up in August. I think most people are expecting Gen 10 to be timed to be announced for the 30th anniversary (and to give GF another year to develop them thank goodness), so holidays seem right. Though Spring would put Z-A halfway between Indigo Disk and Gen 10 releases so I suppose that's not off the table.

@Grumblevolcano @link3710 I’m expecting a H1 release for Z-A, although depending on the route they take, H2 is still in the cards. Gen 10 will most likely be November 2026.

I could definitely see more Pokemon NSO additions this year (probably side games like @Grumblevolcano said), but I’d love to see Gen 1-3 on NSO at somepoint. February 2026 isn’t a bad guess, but I could see GameFreak and Pokemon Company not wanting those on the service at all.

@PikminMarioKirby I think they'll show up. They had Let's Go in the work and rereleased RGBY on VC, I don't think they see the original titles as threats.

Frankly, I could see up to Gen V being available by on NSO by the end of next generation. (VI and VII are unlikely even if Nintendo adds 3DS BC to NSO next gen IMO)

Got the 1.5 TB microSD during the Prime Day deal. Problem is, my laptop doesn't have enough free space on the internal drive to complete the transfer (only a 256 GB SSD). Sooooo it looks like I'll be doing it the tedious way and redownloading everything.

I should probably start clearing out some of my Switch backlog given that Switch 2 is almost surely within a year from now. Even though I expect it to be backwards compatible and maybe even have games that run better on Switch 2. Even so, might be hard to backtrack to Switch once we have shiny new things on offer

Currently ~30% of the games I have on Switch can be finished and are unfinished. A lot of those are little indie releases but there are some big ones in there. Certainly better than where I left the Wii and obviously better than the state of my PC backlog. But much worse than where I left 3DS, DS, Wii U

...... I think if I can finish off Luigi's Mansion 3, Prince of Persia and Metroid Prime Remastered I'm in a good spot. And definitely Metroid Prime Remastered, I really do need to play through that before I can justify to myself picking up 4

edit: also, speaking of microSD cards. The most recent card I got was a fairly cheap 512GB card. SanDisk but cheap. I might need to get a better one because the load times off this card are just brutal. Learnt my lesson there, don't cheap out on the SD card. Whether or not I do this before Switch 2 or not? Don't know. I can probably live with "cleaning out the fridge" for now

I'm giving myself until the end of next year, since there's basically no way I'm getting the Switch 2 before then even if it launches in March like last time. And even then I'm still gonna play it in handheld sometimes after that so I don't even feel the need to finish my backlog, I just want to finish the games that make the most sense to play docked (so mostly AAA games and certain N64 games on NSO).

Right now those games would be, Xenoblade: DE, Xenoblade 3, Super Mario Wonder, (doing the remaining shrines in) TOTK, Pikmin 4, No More Heroes 3, at least the two original Kirby platformers, maybe Captain Toad, maybe Warioware, Paper Mario:TTYD, Doom Eternal and Alien Isolation. And some games I'm just too inpatient to wait another year and a half to play anyway even though I'd be fine playing them only handheld.

I'm very worried about needing to play two Xenoblades in that time after 2 took me 2 1/2 years (even if that was because I took several long breaks, but it was still 250 hours including Torna).

What if the official Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Charger was made so you can still charge your Joy-Cons even if they don’t fit on the Nintendo Switch’s Successor?

What pro controller should i get? All of them ive found say they have drift after a few weeks/months.

sucineGX

My Nintendo: izzy

FishyS

@sucineGX I quite like my regular Switch Pro Controller... just regular cleaning with compressed air tends to fix my sticks. However... the d-pad isn't great and tends to have random up inputs in games which require finicky d-pad control. That wasn't even drift, it just started like that. There are only a few games I've played where it makes a difference so I tend to swap to joycons for those games.

@sucineGX I've had the official Pro Controller for 6-7 years now and never experienced drift.

I don't imagine it's a common thing to have drift in just a few weeks/months?

[Edited by Buizel]

At least 2'8".

link3710

@Buizel Oh it's super common. A number of my controllers have gotten drift in under a month. Others lasted for years. It seems like a total crapshoot.

link3710

Lazz

@sucineGX My Nintendo Pro Controller started drifting after a few years. I picked up the 8Bitdo Pro 2 years ago, and really like it for 2D games. I really like my GuliKit Kingkong 2 Pro Controller. It has been every bit as good as the Pro controller, and I highly recommend it.

I got a Switch Lite a couple weeks ago and have been using it pretty much exclusively until today.

Today I picked up my OLED to play some Pikmin, and holy cow it feels massive lol It feels like I’m holding a tablet with handles, honestly, whereas the Lite feels like an actual
handheld console.

Magician

@rallydefault

And by contrast, the Switch OLED will probably feel lite compared to what the Switch successor will likely be, chunky. I assume it'll be slightly smaller than a Deck.

@Magician
Yea, and I'm kind of torn on how I'm gonna feel about that.

My Lite is definitely, well, much lighter - but it does also feel a bit cheaper in its materials and construction. I do like the snappiness of the buttons, but at the same time they feel cheaper than what you get on normal Joycons. The relative weightlessness of it all is impressive, but it also feels a bit flimsy in the hands. It COULD fit in some pockets, but not smallish ones. Regardless, it's a true handheld console that I would take anywhere and play anywhere.

And then picking back up the OLED, and it's like...woof. I instantly feel the weight, and the screen seems massive. In comparison, it really does feel like I'm holding a dang tablet with a couple controllers slapped to the sides lol No way this puppy is fitting in most pockets. It does feel much more sturdy, but after having both systems, the OLED for me is the limit of what I would consider a true handheld console. I do take it places, but I don't walk around with it at those places, if that makes sense.

Anything bigger than the OLED... yea, probably gonna stay docked, and I'll hope they do another Lite version.
